So that's a 9 point savings on each blastmaster noise marine and 1 point for each other noise marine, which means that if you take two blastmasters in a 10 man noise marine unit you've saved 26 points which is enough for a doom siren and a power sword

Bit problem with Primarines is that they don't get any cheap transports. GW should just make a sprue for the drop pod that replaced the 2 harnesses per door to 1 big harness per door for chads. Maybe terminators as well (for 30k and maybe for SW, if their terminators lose the ability to teleport once again.)

Not when we're arguably the most important 2nd Founding chapter. The fact that BT are so Codex Divergent also helped them get popular and attention, because they're different. I think flamers might actually be the better aggressor loadout if you aren't playing Raven Guard. Yeah, shorter range, but you're never gonna get that double tap when you need to stand around for a turn in range and are a huge, not super durable fire magnet.

Meanwhile once you leap out the transport they're gonna need to be in to make it up the board, you can lump straight into the thick of the enemy with more reliable hits, right in charge and fist range. Assuming survival, your overwatch is a much better deterrent to countercharge.

I've been thinking about them since I saw the new datasheet. I suppose it will depend on the point costs. Unless the Flails are hilariously overcosted, I'd say they are a fantastic weapon. No matter if you're slapping chaff or multi-wound units around, those things are just good. Double-Knives have nothing on Khorne Berzerkers, but they're still decent. The Axes, unless they are crazy overcosted, are fantastic. Plague Marines with Bubotic Axes are basically Chaos Chosen with Power Axes that exchange the Bolt Pistol for better survivability and rerolling 1s To Wound on both the Axes and the Frag Grenades, so a nice enough deal.
The Great Plague Cleaver looks like two of them plus two Meltaguns could make a great anti-tank squad.
The only thing I don't see the value of is the Mace, though I guess they'd make for fantastic Tyranid Warrior killers, but that is a very niche use.

Gauss was always supplementary anti-tank, trying to strip tanks with infantry fire only worked with any reliability when they were already half dead.

Very. You see less tanks because they cost more now, but tanks are very powerful, esspecially tanks for codex armies, who's stratagems can make them into rape machines.
Infantry is good this edition, but the rebalancing effort by GW is seeing them get a lot of nerfs, conscripts are the only major horde unit that has both done well at tournies and remained un-nerfed, and it's on the chopping block.
A good, long lasting this edition wants is a balanced one, which uses a variety of units. Spam armies either get nerfed or made useless by codexes.

I think integrating vehicles into standard combat was fine. It doesn't need to be special. Splitting attempts to run people over off into some separate subsystem instead of just making them shit at combat is adding a large amount of complexity for very little gain.

Black Legion was a funny read. You could see ADB struggling with two conflicting wishes.
