We can hire her on after we kill him, right? We needed an interpreter the last 3 sessions.

It can be funny when C3-P0 does this, but it's just irritating in ttrpgs more often than not
Is she OUR interpreter, or his?
D&D 4e General. Thread starter question: What house rules do you personally prefer for 4e?
If you are GMing, remember...
1. To strongly consider giving out at least one free "tax feat," like Expertise and pre-errata Melee Training.
2. To use Monster Manual 3/Monster Vault/Monster Vault: Nentir Vale/Dark Sun Creature Catalog math. Avoid or manually update anything with Monster Manual 1 or 2 math.
3. That skill challenges have always been scene-framing devices for the GM, that players should never be overtly told that they are in a skill challenge, and that the Rules Compendium has the most up-to-date skill DCs and skill challenge rules.
If you would like assistance with character optimization, remember to tell us what the what the rest of the players are playing, what books are allowed, your starting level, the highest level you expect to reach, what free feats you receive, if anything is banned, whether or not themes are allowed, your starting equipment, and how much you dislike item-dependent builds.
If you wish to talk about settings, 4e's settings are Points of Light (the planes and the natural world's past empires are heavily detailed in various sourcebooks and magazines), 4e Forgotten Realms, 4e Eberron, 4e Dark Sun, and whatever setting you would like to bring into 4e.

I wish I could find people around here interested in 4E.
What's in your collection, guys?
I just pulled my books out of storage. Just remembered I have The Plane Below: Secrets of the Elemental Chaos, and the Death's Reach adventure that my sister got me for my birthday. Haven't gotten to use either yet.

>I wish I could find people around here interested in 4E.
I agree, but it's no wonder really.
There's no new material, the existing materials are actually mostly "transparent". so there's not much to argue about, and home brewing for it is either very low effort (no need for discussion) or very tedious (low incentive to do it).
Oh and I think we got better about edition warring too.
As a neophyte DM, why shouldn't I run Essentials, with the Class Compendium stuff for veteran/rules-oriented players?
Welcome back to the second thread where we take the role of Anlec Falconcrest, a veteran of the first and Second war, who has returned home to a land that is considered a den of traitors by the rest of the Alliance. Put in charge of the town of Strahnbrad, an important trading center of the Former kingdom, you have taken it upon your self to bring the Kingdom to it's former glory.
The way ahead is hard and paved with danger, already, you have made powerful allies, and even more powerful enemies.
Can you make the eagle rise?Pic Unrelated.

This is the map of Alterac. The orange box is the location of tower pointe, the garrison is held by a high ranking noble of alterac with his own household garrison. Prior to the first war, it was the place where Stromgarde was held back by the redoubtable general Hath.
Now, the fortress is not being held by any one from alterac.
>>46866411
the brown block is the location of the forces of Stromgarde. They are encampled there, in striking distance of Tower Pointe, (marked in orange) and are nestled between the spurs of the lower foothills of alterac.
The blue boxes are the fortresses that Uther Lightbringer captured during the siege of Alterac city. It is still being held by Lordaeronian forces, but you have sent your militia to garrison them while the Alteraci army is in tatters. The fortress of Falcon's rest (closer to strahnbrad) has been abandoned and secured.
The encircled area is the hinterland of Strahnbrad, lands that feed your people and let Alterac remain free from the machinations of your larger neighbors.
As the story last stood, your militia, led by captain Garth Ryson, your right hand man was en route to the Falcon's rest. The nearest of the fortresses to garrison it. On the surface, the kingdom of Alterac seems to be recovering well from the war. The new king, Isiden Perenolde is popular enough with the court, despite his long fostering in Gilneas. Due to his closeness with Genn Greymane, there has been a flurry of activity in Alterac city as it is being rebuilt. Large numbers of gilneans architects are finding work there, along with some grumbling from the local alteraci populace who prefer to migrate to Stormwind or to Strahnbrad.
You are personally worried that Genn may be more than just a close friend and might be controlling Isiden from the shadows. Since you vouched for him in the court of Lordaeron, you cannot overtly go against him. Instead you have decided to undercut the gilneans by siding with their rivals, the Naval nation of Kul Tiras. Gilneas is building a navy, and the forests of Northern Alterac are of importance to them. Large parts of it fall under your fiefdom, and you have promised Grand admiral Daelin Proudmoore that you will hinder the attempts to gilneas to take it. In return, he pays you with weapons and money. An underhanded tactic, but it has helped you equip your militia rather well.
Not all has been well however. The dispossessed nobles have gone underground and seem to have organized themselves into a shadowy group that plans to liberate Alterac by killing everyone they deem to be collaborators. Your name is chief among them, as is general Hath's. They call themselves the syndicate and have caused the kidnapping and murder of General Hath. You received his signet ring covered in blood and a promise that you would be next. Your attempt to seek aid from the city state of Dalaran has been rebuffed in no uncertain terms.
You awake to the laughter of children. From the rays of bright sunlight seeping in through the softly billowing curtains of cotton lace you realise you must have slept in. Used to sleeping roughly from your days squiring for Ser Arlen Rivers, at times no better than a common hedge knight, you find the goose-feather mattress and otterskin covers to be intoxicatingly comfortable. So much so that you worry it’s starting to make you soft.
Rubbing your bleary eyes you rise and look out the window into the courtyard. You can see Lisa and Beryl Gauthier laughing as Alan chases Aprille with a stick. Your momentary worry that this might be some sibling quarrel is dashed by Aprille’s shriek of glee as she manages to wrest the stick from your young brother and chase him in turn. A smile tugs at the corner of your lip.
It’s good to be home.

Welcome to House Gauthier Quest, a tale revolving around the heir of a House famed for the beauty of its daughters and gallantry of its sons. Set in the Riverlands 297AL, one year before the events of Game of Thrones, our land is one rich in food and farmland. Our family lives comfortably, our home closer to a mansion than a fort, our town more concerned with this health of this years lambs than whether bandits threaten to raze their homes. Our people are happy, hearty and in good health, having escaped the worst of the conflicts in Westeros so far.
All good things must come to an end. War is coming, and it falls to us to determine the fate of our our people, our family and our House.

Games Workshop decides to make 40K more of a 'Humanity, fuck yeah' universe, and sees Space Marines as an obstacle to this idea (since Space Marines are kinda human but also kinda not).
As a result they remove the Space Marines entirely, and give the role they had (bulwark against the terror) to the Sisters of Battle. Sisters are now the Imperium's most elite fighting force.
Your thoughts, /tg/?
>>46893897
Just fucking kill me maybe?
>>46893897
My first thought would be why do that when sisters models are all old as shit, metal, and expensive when SM are one of their biggest cashcows.
>>46893897
There'd be literally no difference to the setting. SoB would just be Space Marines and SoB as they are now wouldn't exist.
SoB currently are so insignificant their removal to fill the seat of Space Marines would effect nothing.
Your question basically amounts to "what if we squatted SoB and made all space marines cute girls"?
Why don't other non-Blood Angel chapters put their librarians into Dreadnoughts?
>>46891792
Because then BA would have one less thing to keep pretending they need their own codex instead of vanilla codex with chapter tactics.
>>46891792
Because Librarian Dreadnoughts are stupid. The whole concept of a Librarian being powerful was because they could shoot mind lasers and increase their own strength magically. Dreadnoughts are already naturally stronger and can shoot lasers.

I want to get started with gaming in Glorantha. There seems to be a fuckload of different systems and editions and I don't really know where to start. Recommendations for systems (pros & cons) and essential reading are very much appreciated.
Also Glorantha thread if anyone cares.
>>46875526
There are only two main systems: The RuneQuest line and the HeroWars / HeroQuest line.
RuneQuest is based on d100 and the Basic Roleplaying Playing System (Call of Cuthulhu, Pendragon, Nephilim, if you know these), and evolved over the years.
http://glorantha.wikia.com/wiki/RuneQuest
I'm only familiar with RQ3. Seven stats in the 3d6 range (Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, and differently from D&D Willpower, Size and Appearance). There are no levels, instead you have d100 skills, at first based on the stats and on previous experience, that you can increase over time, with situational modifiers (for example, encumbrance gives you a penalty for stealth). If you roll at most your skill value you have a success, very small values give you special and critical successes, rolling over your skill is a failure, the highest numbers are fumbles.
There were drafts for RQ4 but they were canned in favor of the HeroWars and later Hero Quest rules, very light rules based mainly on narration and d20 rolls to determine results.
http://glorantha.wikia.com/wiki/Hero_Wars:_Roleplaying_in_Glorantha
http://glorantha.wikia.com/wiki/HeroQuest
A starting character is determined by a few keywords (profession, cultural background, magical background) that give you a bunch of abilities (skills, items, connections, followers,...), and additional ones can be freely selected (either by writing a list or writing the background of the character and selecting them from the text).
Contests can be resolved in a few ways, depending on the importance of the result.
So, if you want a more traditional game system, go with Rune Quest (6 is the last version). If you want a narration based game, go with Hero Quest.
Soon, there's apparently going to be a new edition of RuneQuest that's paired with Glorantha again rather than being mostly generic like RQ6. That would likely be a good place to start. Otherwise, if you want to start now, pick of Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes for a good, fairly grounded introduction to one of the more popular regions of the setting, Dragon Pass. From there convert it to the system you want to use. The book was made for Heroquest, but it's fairly rules agnostic and would work to convert into RQ6 if you prefer that kind of game.
>>46876294
Pretty much.
Also when we will get more info about other places than Sartar/Dragon pass. Fucking hell every edition is the same.

Make sure you have the five mana open, then.
Just write with a marker on a sticky note.
My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.
Thanks to Theresa, I was able to get a lead on the next place that Faceless was going to hit. And with the help of her Branch, we successfully snuck into said place and prevented him from stealing this gaudy statue thing...
...but I may have maimed him in the process. I don't know what worse- that I did what I did or that I don't feel any remorse for it at all. Like, I feel gross about the whole "maiming" thing but not really guilty for hurting that asshole like I did.

Roused awake by the rays of the sun, I roll around under the covers a few times until I reach the edge of the bed, then I blindly fumble around with my arm until it finally reaches the nightstand where I left my glasses. It isn't until they're firmly situated on my face that I finally open my eyes.
Comfy bed, check.
Girlfriend, check... wait a minute.
She's sitting perfectly upright in the bed... and judging from the bags under her eyes, it doesn't look like she's gotten much sleep at all. And though seeing her like this is cute in its own way, I still feel kind of bad for her.

So what's /tg/'s opinion on mill? Is it a nice strategy or is it a mechanic too old and annoying for today's MtG standards?
The basic fundamental rules of the game make it trash tier and it will always be trash tier, barring combos or printing something degenrate like Mill 20 for U.
>>46879075
Which rules make it thrash tier?
Also, we have pic related, mill 10 for UB, that's 1/6 of a deck already

The Darkhart Folkdom accepts your proposal of friendship. After two weeks, your Homunculi's breeding genes have been improved, and they evolve from small goblin like workers and gain a more humanoid strain.
A month passes, and tragedy strikes. The Empire has crossed into your territory, and have ransacked your cliff city of Dilita.
