i need YOUR opinion.
First of all, i always dreamed of having a campaign focussed on HORROR and SURVIVAL. and i really want to build up horror atmosphere and make the players feel legit uneasy. Have YOU ever managed to accomplish this?
Second of all, i ALWAYS want to hold campaigns in unusual settings. you see, the first thing that comes to mind with horror scenarios are either killers, or ghosts and stuff. but i'd like to go in another rather unusual direction in these days: Alien abductions.
Do you think this could work or is the theme too outdated?
have you ever held a horror scenario that really made the players feel true horror?
>>49200594
>Have YOU ever managed to accomplish this?
step 1: kidnap your players
step 2: lock them in your basement
step 3: inform them they will not be able to leave until they finish the session
>>49200617
lol
>>49200594
i think it could work, I'm not sure exactly how, but for starters you need to have a goal or objectives for the players.
-Find the aliens craft
- investigate scene of abductions
- see the result of abductions, mutilated mangled corpses maybe if you want easy, if you want to freak them out think weirder.
- stumble across one of their labs
- discover they are among you
- later on have the aliens learn of your interference and try to eliminate you, scary having aliens hunt down the players
i honestly thought of X-COM and Destroy All Humans, check those out for some inspiration.
I think it can totally be done. call of cthulu, but less eldritch and more ayys
>>49200617
no matter how many times i see this its still funny
Why don't they prepare a vessel for him to reincarnate to?
>>49200363
Has there been anything in the books or play editions about cloning the emperor? There's planets out there with the tech to do that- at least for normal people. They mentioned one the later Gaunt books, the planet Felix was from.
>>49200363
because the inquisitors who want to do that (thorians) are at odds with the inquisitors who think that's a terrible fucking idea
disconnecting the emperor from the astronomican for even a brief moment would be absolutely disastrous
>>49200363
It would be extremely unpredictable.
>You don't need talent to become a monk you just need to be hardworking
How the fuck is a hardworking mindset not a talent?
>>49198990
who or what the fuck are you quoting? I've never once heard this concept.
>>49198990
fuckin get good nigga
if you take the massive amount of dick out of your mouth for a fuckin second to put some effort in you'll have an ethic in no time
>>49198990
Fucking everyone is hardworking. You aren't a genius if everyone else is a genius. You are just average. Monks are average.
Anybody play this?
I've played 2 or 3 games before. It's a pretty short albeit fun game.
>>49198783
It is rage inducing.
It is a relationship killer.
It turns friends into bitter enemies.
It made me lose my religion.
It raped my soul right out of my ass.
8/10. Board artwork could use a redesign.
>>49198648
I've only ever played the first version, I liked it a lot. What's in the 3.0 that's different?
Let's get a PC backstory thread going. Post your newest, your best, the ones that caused the biggest effects in-game- let's hear 'em.

bumping for interest
>Her ancestor was seduced by a fey creature
>When she was born, she had sorcerous potential
>The fey decided to kidnap her at infancy for a game
>They placed her in an "artificial" village
>The entire population of which had been kidnapped from other places and charmed/mind controlled to get along and not question this
>She thought it was a paradise
>Eventually the church got wind of this and sent paladins
>Paladins broke the main spell, but half the village went crazy and either attacked them or danced to exhaustion
>During this, her magical potential awoke
>She tried to make everything go back to normal (for her)
>For a little while the fighting stopped but soon the spell faded and it resumed
>She managed to escape the village in the confusion
>Now believes people can't get along unless they're forced to with magic and that magically induced love is the only truly unconditional love
>Adventures to prove her delusions correct and recreate her childhood village where everyone got along perfectly
Fey, not even once.
Current character is a wizard from a country destroyed by a magical weapon of mass destruction. His most defining character feature is his curiosity about what happened that day, taking revenge on whoever caused it, and finding if it can be undone.
During the intro session, the DM dropped me a huge plothook concerning the destruction of my homeland, but the party was outnumbered and we were left with more questions than answers, and our NPC informant killed before our eyes. We're in the big city now, scrambling for what few clues we can find to follow up.
My character's essentially-PTSD from everyone he knew from home presumably being dead makes it hard for him to use lethal force. Unless he ever has a chance to take revenge on whoever attacked his homeland. He may even tip into being evil on his quest for vengeance if none of the other party members try to dissuade him from it.
Pic somewhat related. Someone scratched a khorne rune into the wall of one of the buildings on my university's campus. I want to let them know there is another neckbeard on campus without vandalizing the school further. Any ideas?
Since he's a 40k player, you should take all your cash and put it in a pile, and then set it on fire.
He and any other 40k fans will immediately rush over, and start burning their money as well.

Tape a note with some chaos/imperium symbol next to it
>>49197842
Tape a dildo with a slaneeshi symbol to a statue using easily removable tape.
Is it possible to play a chaotic evil character in a 'normal' party without being more trouble than it's worth?
A lot of CE deities are gods of deception, and your typical spree or serial killer are normal people before and after they do their killings, so I'd definitely say you could. LE can publicly say they're LE and be accepted in many parties, but I feel like CE needs to hide it.

Those children trusted you, Oak.
They trusted you.

>When you were 10 and taught HM moves to your favourite pokemon.
Man, they are pushing the Chandra x Nissa lesbian ship really fucking hard, aren't they?
Not that I'm complaining...
>>49196211
Who cares?
Magic is shit anyway.
>>49196211
What the fuck? I just noticed Chandra has fucking PANTS on.
Holy shit, way to ruin a good character design, Jesus Christ.
>>49196298
What were you expecting? Hot pants?
Who was most right?

>>49196079
Yang, he practiced everything he preached that and if you pit every single faction against each other in a pure AI fight, Yang always comes out on top.
>>49196079
Miriam.
Lal closely behind.
Zakharov and Morgan can be good or bad depending on the context you throw them into.
The other three are objectively awful cancer of humanity that seeks change over progress.
So you want to tell me what [WARHAMMER 40K] is all about?
(I'm going to be in a Rogue Trader game in a few days, and I need a summary of the WH40K universe.)

War and skulls

cool
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there's nothin' left
'Cause I've been blastin' and laughin' so long that
Even my Apothecary thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never crossed a heretic that didn't deserve it
Me be treated like a hero, you know that's unheard of
You better watch how ya talking and where ya walking
Or you and your cult might be lined in promethium
I really hate to trip but I gotta purge
As they croak, I see myself in the bolter smoke, fool
I'm the kind of marine' that little scouts wanna be like
On my knees in the night, sayin' prayers in the church light
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Look at the situation they got me facing
I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the Angels
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much pict watching got me chasing relics
I'm an educated fool with purity on my mind
Got my sword in my hand and a gleam in my visor
I'm a purged out marine, set trippin' zealot
And my brothers is down, so don't arouse my anger, heretic
Death ain't nothing but 4 heartbeats away
I'm living my life do-or-die, uh, what can I say?
I'm two hundred twenty three now, but will I live to see two hundred twenty four?
The way things is going, I don't know
Tell me why are they so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are heretics and xenos
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Been spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Keep spending most our lives
Living in a Astartes paradise
Power and the relics, relics and the power
Decade after decade, month after month
Everybody's purging, but half of them ain't lookin'
What's going on in the chapter? But I don't know what's plottin'
Thats 40k
Why does every D&D edition since 1e place so much hype and word count in the DMG for "the planes" when nobody gives a rat's fucking ass about the planes and the heavens and the hells unless they're specifically playing in Planescape?
>when nobody
I care.
>>49194850
I feel bad for you for how shit your group is.
>>49194850
The 5e DMG a lot of optional stuff that nobody uses.
Like +2 equipment. And downtime options. And magic item crafting. And all of the variant rules.
Hey /tg/, so I'm trying to write a short science fiction story and I desperately need some inspiration. So please dump whatever cool artwork you got.

Hey /tg/, so I'm trying to visit Mars and I desperately need a rocket ship.
One of the main reasons why Imperium is such a shithole is because it's too fucking large so it can't supply enough food, military forces are stretched too far, a lot of citizens aren't even acknowledged because it's impossible to keep track of everyone etc.
Why these stupid fucking idiotic imbecile retards didn't stop at let's say thousand worlds? What they need a milion planets for? It was obvious the huge size will backfire.
>>49193753
'Cause if you're not expanding, you're letting the xenos win, son.
Imperium is doomed, its been doomed since the day the Emperor was felled by Horus and put on his throne.
>>49193753
As long the enemies of the Emperor still draw breath, there can be no peace. So if you steal their homes, it helps a lot.
What are some good settings that glorify war?
Alternatively, how would you go about making a setting that glorifies war?
Warhammer and Khorne. Literally.
That dude lives for that shit.
>>49194360
Yeah, but both Warhammer settings are intentionally dark and depressing. Largely because there's so much war. It's meant to make war look absolutely abysmal.
>>49194615
Man, you took the words out of my mouth.
Though, a setting khorne would make if he played tabletop might be what I want.
Ok my group just finished playing a long d&d campaign and now want to play cyberpunk. I told them about shadowrun but they said that they want to play some thing different and light hearted. Some one suggested the setting of barkley shut up and slam gaiden. The other three guys didn't know what he was taking about but after some time they desided to play that campaign setting. So now I'm asking you guys to tell me what system will work best. If no body has ideas I'm running gurps.
Try it in gurps
>>49192932
>So now I'm asking you guys to tell me what system will work best.
Exalted, I'm not even lying.
>>49192977
GURPS is the last resort since it's hard to explain to new people nothing against the system it self though
>>49192983
I though exalted was for high fantasy. Or is it a universal system?
