Nothing on Catalog about this, thought you'd like to know RiotMinds are doing a kickstarter for an English translation/version of their Trudvang setting. Y'all keep posting about their dwarves and how you love the setting but moan about how you can't be arsed with the language. Well here's your chance!
Not shilling or anything, just thought I'd share cause people seem to like Trudvang.
Wanna discuss the setting and share some awesome art? This is the thread for you!
Bumping to help foreign fa/tg/uys get their books across the world!

There's really only one thing I don't get about Trudvang.
Why the fuck can't they translate it? Jesus christ.
Swedes, like the rest of the scandis, are more than proficient in english. it's not that fucking hard, and this has led me to believe they fear wiards of the coast TM. Drackar och fangselshold or whatever.
>>49211653
They ARE translating it. It's right there in the OP.

I was told that casters are no longer master race in 5e, was I lied to?
>>49209282
>I was told that casters are no longer master race in 5e, was I lied to?
Yep.
>>49209282
Yes, casters in 5e are still master race. Wizard and bard are probably the strongest but cleric is still up there.
The strongest non-full-caster is probably the paladin.
In fact, casters are at their strongest throwing one encounter at you per day, because it means your can blow your entire load in that fight.
Meanwhile, warlocks, fighters, monks etc are left hanging, because they expect to have several short rests a day.
>>49209459
>>49209495
Done in two.
Bard is simply the strongest class, IMO.
They get Jack of All Trades, Magical Secrets, Inspiration, Song of Rest, and Expertise, plus some of the best spells in the game, proficiency in some useful weapons, three skills of choice, a d8 hitdie, and two of the better saves available (Dex and Cha), all on top of being a full caster that types off of CHA in a game where Half-Elf got a giant buff (the best race if Variant Human is barred).
Let's assume that it's not a persons actions that make them evil, but the reasoning and mindset behind them.
If that's true, when should a paladin be considered to have fallen?
When he begins doubting in himself and his actions, he starts losing power. This has a side effect of producing single-minded zealots, who don't believe they can do wrong, while any insecure or overly analytical paladins are unreliable - who knows when he starts questioning his actions for a bullshit reason?
>>49208868
When they stop caring about the negative side effects of their actions.
>>49208868
Shouldn't this be the general case?
After all the person is imbued with the alignment. Not the action.

The year is 2354. After decades of trials, tests, and experiments bordering on ethical insanity, it finally happens. Earth has a second sentient species emerge, and it is...
The African Grey Parrot.
What would avian tools look like? How would vehicles designed for birds be controlled? Would it be by beak? By one foot? By hovering and using both feet? Would we build Avian-friendly smart phones for them?
What would life as a sentient bird be like, /tg/?
>vehicles for birds
Are you high, motherfucker?
>>49207939
IncrediblyI was watching planet of the apes, and of course apes can just use human stuff cos we're about the same. But African Grey Parrots are among the smartest animals on Earth. If they could think like us, how would they build things?

Are you HIGH, motherfucker?
This is in D&D 5e
TL;DR at the end.
Ok let's get some backstory, there are 4 players and then me, the DM, we'll call the players Y, W, B and S.
Y & W are playing D&D for the first time.
B has played a lot of D&D over several years.
S was playing D&D for the first time, then went off on a trip with friends after our 2nd session and did 2 weeks of playing almost nothing but D&D for 8 hours a day. And they played D&D pretty much -every- day.
I've played D&D Pathfinder a little bit and I've never DM'd before.
Ok I'm a new DM, I've only DM'd 4 sessions ever with this group.
Our session is a premade campaign (Lost Mine of Phandelver) and it has sort of evolved into teaching Y & W how to play D&D and teaching me how to DM entertainingly. B was there mainly to help set up character sheets and advise on how I should operate as a DM at the start, but ultimately left it up to me.
However, since S has come back he rerolled his character from a Bard into a Sorcerer and it's sort of thrown a wrench in the campaign because he's suddenly able to overcome any of the challenges with a slew of new abilities which just make his character sound like some silly comic book hero power fantasy, such as having a familiar that can shapeshift into anything, the familiar being able to turn invisible and immaterial to pass through walls, and said familiar able to cast any of his spells as well as telepathically communicate with him - at infinite range.
He said that the trade-off to this would be being less strong in combat but he still dishes out a very good amount of damage.
(cont. - pretyped)
Additionally he'll debunk any threat that comes their way. I described and sort of hyped up a bugbear to be the main boss of a dungeon, and he immediately downplayed the threat by saying to the rest of the group "Oh that's not a problem, bugbears are easy to deal with". Even though I artificially inflated its stats, hp, and abilities during the encounter to try and make it seem more challenging, I feel like it's taking away from the experience of Y & W - that they're not being challenged at all because S seems to just asspull his way through each situation and the fact that I don't know what's applicable means it feels like he's just bullshitting his way through.
Because of his extra game knowledge he's also being doing things like rolling to figure out what armour the enemy is wearing and flat out demanding the AC value that enemy had - something I wasn't happy with telling him.
B has been rping his barbarian character and trying to encourage Y & W to tackle the objectives to learn more but it almost feels like they're playing second fiddle to S.
I don't want to discourage S's behaviour because this is simply how he is. This is how he wants to play, and I want to be accomodating of it, but I don't know how to entertain him and his character separately (if I should do that at all), I don't know how I can give his character adequate challenges without overburdening Y and W.
Should I add harder challenges that are specifically catered to S and encourage B, Y and W to do the other challenges?
Or is this just something that will get easier with more experience?
I just don't know how to make something interesting for all involved considering the gap in experience between the players and me, the DM.
TL;DR: I'm a novice DM, S player was a novice player, played D&D hardcore for 2 weeks and became an expert, his newfound advanced knowledge means I can't provide decent challenges in the campaign, how do I provide decent challenges that accomodate S but don't disconnect two novice players from the campaign?

It sounds like he's making shit up and being That Guy. Be rid of him.
>Demanding to know AC
No, he's just walking over you because of your inexperience.
Give him two choices.
Either he uses his greater system knowledge to run, or, he fucks off.
any good rpg's recommendations for both gm and player beginners?

fatalSomeone has to say it
Welcome! Today we shall be leading a clan into a journey the likes has never been seen before. The god-talkers are listening and the ringmembers heed the call of you, the utmost spirits, in their quest on the road to becoming the Kings of Dragon Pass!
Choices will be trading off between consensus and d100 vote depending on the vote at hand and how many players there are.
If you are unfamiliar with what King of Dragon Pass is, consider reading the comprehensive manual here: http://a-sharp.com/kodp/ios/KoDP-Manual.pdf
Or just pick whatever sounds the most fun to you...but try not to cheat with things like godquests, as failure is all a part of the magic!
But first we must choose the fate, not of our clan, but of our clan's ancestry, for the lives of our ancestors matters just as much as the lives of our people, and our gods.Disclaimer: I had already tried to do this on /qst/ but it burned out slowly from a lack of people, so now I'm trying to do it here after some advice from several vulgar, yet kind, anons.
There once was a time when gods and people walked the earth together. Your clan traces its ancestry back to those times. Your clan history begins when you joined forces with the storm god Orlanth. Back then, Orlanth was simply one of many upstart, rebellious gods bent upon conquest of the world. Orlanth's unique contributions at that time were personal honor and a close kinship to the other deities who seemed to be on the winning side.
Praise Orlanth
After many tribulations, adventures, and discoveries Orlanth proved himself worthy of marrying Ernalda, the Earth Mother. The two of them created the Marriage Ring and established great harmony in the world through this sacred bonding. Your clan took part in the wedding ceremony. Most clans either whooped with Orlanth, or learned a secret from Ernalda. A few clans stood with Elmal, God of Horses and the Sun as an honor guard.
How did you prepare for the great marriage?
1. Your men and women donned gleaming armor and stood guard with Elmal, to protect the celebrants from Orrlanth's many enemies.
2. Your men whooped with Orlanth and drank the Eight Known Drinks, so that their heads would hurt during the ceremony.
3. Your women withdrew with Ernalda, and learned a List of Names, which they promised not to repeat to the men.
d100 vote.
Have you not learned from Auriela's Fury and Narset Transcendent?
Face it, this cards is average at best. Take off your hype blinders.
>>49206902
>Aurelia's Fury
Apples and Oranges
>Narset
Narset was nice, and did see a fair amount of play in Esper / U/W control lists.
She had a lot going for her, like the very high loyalty, and the fact that you can rebound wraths and untap on an empty board as a control deck. However, as soon as the more traditional control lists died down, and the only real control deck in standard was Esper Dragons, Narset became irrelevant.
The sort of deck that she slots into doesn't exist anymore (except random Shaheen Soorani brews), so she doesn't see play.
Torch of Defiance slots into a lot more decks, mainly because she follows the "how to become a relevant planeswalker in constructed" guidelanes :
+1 creates card advantage, and pressures your opponent / their walkers
- 3 protects her, and works the turn you drop her without depleting all loyalty
- 7 is your typical pressure ulti that forces your opponent to waste all their resources removing her, or losing the game
second +1 is just gravy and works with her main +1 in the way where you can both either draw new cards when your hand is weak, or accelerate your hand when it's strong
She will definitely see ton of standard play, considering how she is better than Flamecaller. Not in powerlevel, but being a 4 drop is way more relevant than being a 6 drop. The simply fact that you can play her on 4, kill a creature, and have a Chandra left is a huge tempo-swing.
I'll most likely try her in various modern decks, see how she plays there.God I want to smell her sweaty, fiery bush so bad
Both +1's suck turn 4. Her second plus +1 is only a rebate if you have something to cast and actually cast it. Her -3 really sucks turn 4.
>>49207210
Exactly. If I wanted to play a walker on turn 4, I'd stick with Nahiri or Gideon. New Chandra is a hype meme, just like Sarkhan, Narset, and Arlinn before her.
What are some good magic items to give to players at lower levels? I had an idea where wizards failed ideas are a hot item in market stalls.
You're welcome.

What are your thoughts on this game?
>>49205777
It's good.
Bump?
>>49207117
I just don't understand why people on this board find it so difficult to bump a thread with actual content instead of signaling to all of /tg/ "This is a dead thread! Don't bother coming in here!" by writing "bump".
When someone talks about iconic artwork in Magic, what are some of the most prominent cards that you think of?
Dunno generally, but when I think of MtG artwork, stuff like this pops up:
>Copper-leaf angel
>Alpha Dark Ritual
>Susan van Camp's Hymn to Tourach
>Greg Staple's (hue) Serra Angel
>All of Rebecca Guay's artwork
>Mirage lands
What inspires you to either run or play RPGs /tg/?
Where would you realistically like to host a game for atmosphere?
Pic related is a 4' tall castle built in the catacombs under Paris. Would make for a killer session.
Post pics of your inspiration sources.
>>49205533
>Post pics of your inspiration sources.+ 0 post omitted.
I mostly world-build, campaigns that I host are kind of a sideproduct of it and allow me to actually flesh out the settings even more when I see players poking holes in and exploring it.
My main source of inspiration are these:
http://mangafox.me/manga/shuna_no_tabi/v01/c001/6.html
http://www.mangareader.net/nausicaa-of-the-valley-of-the-wind/1
The rest is mostly historical and anthropological research on East-European, Middle-East and Central Asian settings. I'm particularly fascinated by steppe and high-altitude environments and cultures.
For actual storylines, I borrow quite a lot from Thousand and One Nights and some short stories by a name called Borges.
>>49205533
Is it just me, or is talking anything creative just really difficult around /tg/. With the exception of storythreads, which seem to work fine, discussions about creativity, inspiration world-building threads and the like don't really work.
>>49206899
Yep, people will sometimes talk about how they like their elves or similar things, but they won't talk much about why they're attracted to certain parts of the hobby/game for whatever reason.
For me I draw inspiration from old structures and environments, weather it's visiting an old wooden grain mill on a river, or exploring abandoned buildings, or places that look like medieval ruins, being in these places make me want to run games.
Where do new Chaos Space Marines come from?
They're not daemons, so they can't just petition their friendly local neighbourhood chaos god for a new body, and with all the battles against CSM over millenia eventually almost everyone from the original legions has been killed by now, right? Are marines turning to chaos in such a number to maintain a decent amount of chaos marines? Do they turn humans on planets they conquer into chaos space marines using dark mechanicus tech? I must know.

When a mummy bad spess muhreen and a daddy bad spess muhreen love each other very much they do a special hug.
Prett much the last one which is why the csm codex being shit tier is true to the fluff
Didn't the Iron Warriors try and make some new space marine babies in one of the novels and they were all born without skin or something?
All the other races are unanimous in this belief: it is bad luck to kill a crane anywhere near a human.
And then what happened?
Feeding the cranes explosives has finally paid off I see.
