>Psionic
vs
>Wizard

Both are the greatest, top-of-the-line, prime example of their brand. They are both well-versed in the each others powers. A straight up no holds barred fight between these two, who would win?

I'm genuinely curious because I have seen in a lot of fiction psionics being capable of some really nutty shit. End-game psionics get to the point where it's some existential fluff, and they've transcended beyond the mortal comprehension. At least that's how it usually goes; and wizards are just wizards, we all know how that ends.

Are you talking about D&D?
>>
Depends if wizards can project a magical barrier versus the psionic's attacks, and vise versa if the psychic can transcend to a plane out of reach of the wizard's spells. But most likely, stalemate.

You're using words like end-game, so do you have a particular setting or game in mind?

Do you prefer swords over spears? Why or why not?

Spears are nice for their range but I love the versatility a sword provides. Especially a good longsword or a bastard sword.

Longsword you can stab, slash, bludgeon, puncture armor with the cross guard, use the hilt to smack somebody across the helmet, half sword it to stab the weak points. Just a great all around weapon.

Look up Carbon Based Lifeforms, ambient trance that makes great background noise for sci fi.

Some of the DEF CON soundtracks have some pretty good stuff, which is unsurprising considering the culture. Razorgirl from DEF CON 24, if nothing else, is relevant.

Almost anything in the Synthwave or Outrun genres.

I would start with Gunship, Lazerhawk, Timecop1983 and the Drive soundtrack.

hey me and my friends are looking to run a game in space.

I'm looking for something more grounded and less fantasy. one of our group members is looking for something like mass effect.

what are some of your favorite space systems?

we've played gurps, apocalypse world, and 5e but were willing to just about anything.

Traveller springs to mind as a go-to for sci fi games, especially if you're looking for something on the harder scale. I've also heard good things about Stars Without Numbers, which is apparently in a similar vein, but I haven't played it personally.

You could do generic systems of course, but you're not here to get told to play GURPS.

If you don't mind something that comes with its own setting there's Eclipse Phase, which is very transhuman-focused. You could also do any of the Warhammer 40k games (rogue trader would be the one to look at if you want to be flying a ship around), but 40k doesn't translate very well to generic sci-fi, so it might not be what you're after.

Many sci fi franchises have their own rpgs. There's an official Star Trek I believe, and Firefly, and even an unofficial Mass Effect game all of which you should be able to find online without too much trouble.

Hope that helps. If you post more specific details of what you're after I can give it a look in the morning and see if I can help further.
>>
If you don't mind D20 variants then Stars Without Number is actually pretty good, and Far Trek is outstanding. If not, maybe give Rocket Age or Degenisis a look.

What sort of diseases or injuries could make a person regularly cough up blood but not have any significant impact on their overall health or performance in combat in the near-term? Like, a bit of anemia at most.

I'm trying to avoid saying "yeah, it's magic/a curse, shit sucks bro."

What it says on the tin.
How do your sessions/setting handle faith?
Do they have unique pantheons?
How is the church viewed?
How are it's followers treated throughout the world?
How in depth are the religions themselves?
21 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>49249599

There are a few established faiths in the setting but the PCs are free to create one of their own as, such in real life, there were any number of cults and religious movements even if they are forgotten or merely personal interpretations or different views of the main faiths.

I feel that making too much emphasis on certain gods focuses to much story detail to them unless your game/setting involves dealing with them specifically but I prefer distant/no-gods (or at least overt ones anyways)
>>
>>49249599
The Party members are all oddly charismatic and need a quick buck.

We mostly avoid religion at my table because of the diversity which only ends with us having a bunch of ooc arguments. I've done a bunch of worldbuilding about it, but never get to implement it much.

The doors to the abandoned shipping warehouse are blown off of their own hinges and sent scattering across the room, the two guards nearby the door being thrown up into the air just as easily as the cards that were being played between the two of them.

“That’s awfully uncharacteristic of you to be taking the frontal approach like that.” a single feminine voice chides, smoke clearing to to show what appears to be nearly six foot tall figure in a brilliant blue armour all over with small gold trims. The walking tank’s green singular visor doesn’t even glance at the guard on the ground who scrambles to be taking out his smartphone, only to be met with a single shot from what appears to be a revolver that appears to be more of a cannon. The twin barrels of the Revolver flash out, only for the man the ground to recoil in pain as electricity coursed through his body with the Sticky Shock bullet.

“I’m supposed to be at a gala this evening, but no instead I had to be paired with you, walking through a warehouse regarded as one of the vile places in all of Creation, all in order to perform a favor for him.” Another feminine voice rings out from another powered armour that walks alongside the blue tank. A sleek armour with exo-muscular fibers visible all over the body with shimmering silver light armour plate sticking out around the joints, a helmet showing a visor that has a set of four angled eyes that gleam towards a horrified guard on the ground. Holding a chain and sickle in both of her hands, she quickly swings it towards the other guard on the floor just as he’s about to cry out, the chain wrapping around his neck, before yanking the chain hard back towards her and carrying the guard with her, and in one lightning fast movement releases the guard and kicks him in the back of the head to knock him unconscious immediately. “I want this done and over with as soon as possible.”

“And here I thought you’d want to want to go out for dinner since we’re both in the city.” the blue armoured figure says as she flicks open the cylinder of her weapon, calmly shaking out spent casings from her weapon before grabbing a speed loader from an opening that slide open on her wrist. “I’m not sure we’re going to be doing it fast now though. All of the warehouse must’ve heard that explosion and I’m pretty sure so did the Night Ravens... Or whoever is hired to guard this area at the moment.”

“Hooded Executioners, and I bribed the guard captain of this area earlier, they won’t be a problem.” the Silver figure says putting the Kusarigama on her side before placing her hand on a katana that’s hanging off her hip. “I just don’t see the reason to send both of us when one of us alone is easily enough for this entire warehouse.”

“Intelligence suggests a Dragonblooded is on the payroll of this group, possibly a large number of demons or Elementals to go along with them.” The blue one says, giving a quick spin of the revolver before loading it into a small container on the side of her thigh.

“Still doesn’t change anything.” The Silver armoured figure as she glances around the warehouse, seeing the large array of cargo containers and wooden crates lined up. “Whatever, let’s just get this done and over with s-”

Hello and welcome to Alchemical Blade: Prequel Quest: The Prologue! Normally quest runners don’t start talking openly after the introduction bit but after hearing some feedback from my friends I’ll make this informational post.

One of these two lovely characters here will be the protagonist of the story and at the end of this prologue you will be able to vote which one of the two will be it. In the meantime, this prologue is to help ease into the setting and be more of a showcase involving the two characters themselves.

Welcome to A Song of Storm Throughout the Centuries: House Deschain Quest. Unlike most A Song of Ice and Fire Quests, this one won't take place (hopefully) in any single point in time. but throughout the course of Westros History starting with the reign of Aegon the Unlikely to the War of Five Kings. During it you will guide both your chart the fortunes of your House and perhaps the Seven Kingdoms.

House Deschain is a premade house located in the middle of Dornish Marches. At the beginning of this quest, an uneasy and unpopular peace has been forced on the Marcher Lords by the deceased King Baelor Targaryen, one championed by Prince Daeron II but also being plotted to be brought to an end by King Aegon IV.

If you’ve played the one of the dozens Quests within the ASoIaF you know the drill. I will be using the Game of Thrones addition, as well as a few of the expansions like OOSP and a few house rules which started in other Quests and to be continued with my own eventually. Any questions or concerns on how things are being done, feel free to bring up. This is my first Quest and I'm learning the ropes as well.

Here we go!

At the pace Ser Wil Deschain was riding Boulder, he suspected it wouldn't be until nightfall before he reached the Dancing Dragon Inn, let alone King's Landing but frankly he could care less. The sun was high, glob of orange that seems to be growing larger and larger like a wine stain wiped the wrong way, but it air breeze was constant and soft. Spring had just arrived and quite frankly, Ser Will was determined to enjoy it. Three long years of Winter got a man to appreciated a nice heat. Especially one as soft and pleasant as this one.

“Can we please go faster my Lord?” Daeron Frey asked, wiping sweat from his brow. A lanky, chinless little lordling, naming him after a dragon apparently did little to add gumption to his disposition. Wil wonder how Set Holster Frey ever got him to agree to squire his little shit of son, friend of his father Roland or not. “At this rate we'll barely make it for the tourney, and the squire's melee is formally a day before...”

“Daeron, you best soak up the sun all you can. Spring might might mean sunshine and bright skys in the Riverlands, but after tourney we head back to my home in the Stormlands. And Spring in the Stormlands means rain and dark clouds if your lucky, thunder and lighting if your not.” Ser Wil said, smiling before taking a swig from his waterskin “Besides, I've been over this, your not ready for the melee or the lists yet we'll discuss again in a year”

“Not anyone near as big as Daeron's Memorial though” Frey sulked as he trotted along on his big black courser, oh so cleverly named Midnight. Thankfully, as far as Wil was able to hear, he stayed silent after that though.
>>
Not that he wasn't right. Rumor was Aegon IV had every intention of outdoing himself this year, and it was said it was known for being open handed when it came to celebrations, feasts, and festivals. The king loved a party and there was no bigger one possible than at a joust. Knights, lords, ladies and singers alike all looking to puff up their chests and show off what they had to offer, honor those brave or foolish enough to do so, or at least make coin pretending to so. A type of geneosity Wil's father, Lord Roland would have looked down upon no doubt, but one Ser Wil had yet to develop an opinion one way or another. Wil never took the sept like his father had, and quite frankly outside of battle, didn't share much an opinion or liking or even skill for what he believed.

After what had to have been at least a couple of hours, Daeron spoke again his voice losing it's usual inflection of a child's loud self pitying tantrum and a suprisingly flat and matter of fact voice.

“Ser Wil….is that smoke?”

It took Wil a minute or two to focus his eyes, but sure enough the Frey boy wasn't wrong. Off in the distance a little hovel of a house was emitting a thick black inky smog. Outfront a wagon was overturned with a man sprawled on his belly. Wil wasn't a clever man, but he was smart enough to put two and two together.

> Bard, makes toys, has two children, checks out - he’s the guy.
> They ask for directions and receive them - but they’re warned by the old lady that Bard is not at home right now, he’s taking a walk somewhere, so they probably should come to him at the evening.
> The most succesful part of the party decides that fuck this shit, they didn’t come so far to wait until the evening. Also, an evil druid and his werewolves may or may not be coming to eat Bard and his family, so they should really get moving.
> So they do - they come to Bard’s doorstep, knock on his door and get no response. “Well, he really isn’t home” - they conclude - “We should watch his house and approach him the moment he comes back.”

> One of the polite gentlemen tells the duo that they should have been more covert - and now they’re paying the price for their sloppiness.
> After this, the group attacks - at first the duo holds their ground and tries to fight, but very soon they crunch the numbers and realize that each and every one of polite gentlemen is actually a level 5 rogue, and there’re many of them.

It would make sense for them to, magical accidents and all that business. It's something that has always bothered me about the universe is the Wizards have a strong vibrant community that you only see the surface of but in order to have that surface there would have to be a larger population of wizards than what is stated in the books doing all the other implied jobs to keep the system moving forward
