Anyone dabble with 360 degree video records?

Worth it?

I like the idea of archiving my life in 360, so I can later watch it on a VR headset

Is this just a meme technology, or the first step towards Star Trek TNG-esque holodeck recorders?

Love to hear you /p/ thinks of 360 stuff

Any recommended products?

Ya, I've done some shooting with spherical videos.

It's fun, but you realize very quickly how different it is than with regular photography.

Specifically, I made videos in 360. Documentary/journalism style.

I used the Samsung Gear 360, and they're rather excellent for the price. We're looking to purchase a Sony a7sii VR rig. But for entry level things, the Samsung gear 360 is the way to go.

How well does Fuji slide film hold up over time? Let's say it expired in 1988, how much color shift should I expect? Stored at room temperature and processed normally. Finally, does it lose speed like C41 film?

Wouldn't shoot at anything other than box speed personally (and this is generally the advice I've seen), slide film has limited exposure latitude. Color shifts aren't that predictable. Expired film is perfectly usable, but if you need 100% reliable results, shoot new film.

Have shot a lot of expired slides, but nothing that old yet (oldest from 2000 or something), so take the above with a grain of salt.

What kinds of couples shoots do you usually do, and what do you charge for them?

Personally, I don't do couples shoots normally, so I'd probably charge more for them. Especially if the BF is camera-shy/awkward/jealous. I'd charge extra just for dealing with that alone.

I'm looking at 2-in-1 tablets that would serve solely for photo editing on the go and abroad, and can run either full Lightroom or the app/light version. I have full editing software on my desktop if I need heavy editing. Has anyone had any experience with any of the Microsoft or Samsung 2-in-1 devices, or any recommendations for travelable photo editing tech at all?

Pictured is the Microsoft Book, probably my first choice based on depth of color and processing power (when docked)... but also expensive as balls.

I have 3 years left in university doing a BFA in photo. Im able to print cheaply with 43 inch printers, so the big printing quality is a huge drive. The major downside is that the pentax has no live view, which is key to taking installation shots of pieces, which is like half of what I do.

you don't need a medium format camera, hell you don't even need a full frame. I think you should stop coveting stuff you don't have. You're gonna end up broke selling and buying stuff for just a little more.

>NYC AREA RESIDENTS:
is anyone interested in a /p/ meetup in New York City sometime in the next few weeks? And maybe getting a free camera for attending?

My idea: we could start at K&M, do a little photowalk through the heart of Chinatown, then take a trip over to some more unique destination - I was thinking the track in Queens that they use for horse races and betting. Racetracks are always full of a wide variety of people, and the emotions and tensions running high can lead to some cool, engaging situations! Pic attached is a photo I took at the racetrack in New Orleans LA, for instance.

And the flipside of this post: I own a minolta hi-matic 9. It’s a rangefinder with a 45mm f1.7 prime, built-in meter, hotshoe, ostensibly fully automatic “point and shoot” exposure options (though I don’t know if I’d really trust them), and a whole lot of other goofy bells and whistles - including a surprisingly bright and clean viewfinder that truly makes it easy to compose your shot. It’s missing the battery door compartment - and, of course, a battery - but it ought to work again just as soon as you replace those things.

So if you're getting into shooting film or photography in general for the first time, or you want to play around with a rangefinder for the first time after years of SLR experience, or you love me very much and think that using a camera I used to own will give you good luck? Tell me what’s up if you want the camera, and if we do have a meet up I’ll give it to you!
