>NYC AREA RESIDENTS:
is anyone interested in a /p/ meetup in New York City sometime in the next few weeks? And maybe getting a free camera for attending?
My idea: we could start at K&M, do a little photowalk through the heart of Chinatown, then take a trip over to some more unique destination - I was thinking the track in Queens that they use for horse races and betting. Racetracks are always full of a wide variety of people, and the emotions and tensions running high can lead to some cool, engaging situations! Pic attached is a photo I took at the racetrack in New Orleans LA, for instance.
And the flipside of this post: I own a minolta hi-matic 9. It’s a rangefinder with a 45mm f1.7 prime, built-in meter, hotshoe, ostensibly fully automatic “point and shoot” exposure options (though I don’t know if I’d really trust them), and a whole lot of other goofy bells and whistles - including a surprisingly bright and clean viewfinder that truly makes it easy to compose your shot. It’s missing the battery door compartment - and, of course, a battery - but it ought to work again just as soon as you replace those things.
So if you're getting into shooting film or photography in general for the first time, or you want to play around with a rangefinder for the first time after years of SLR experience, or you love me very much and think that using a camera I used to own will give you good luck? Tell me what’s up if you want the camera, and if we do have a meet up I’ll give it to you!

by the way - this is the camera! the hi-matic 9...
i'm gonna continue to look for the battery cover. if i can find it, the camera will probably even be working properly again when I hand it over.

Hi worldsno1,
The answer is "maybe." Am I allowed to bring a digital camera and express no interest in film photography whatsoever?
Love,
agnotologist
is p alive again?
I've always wondered what kind of normie-tier sna/p/shitters show up to these kind of things. If an NYC meet goes down, count me in.
down
Let's do it in central Manhattan. I'm not going on a fucking field trip to chink town with you weirdos.
Central Park? Lots of cuties maybe we can do a public bukkake shoot .
>NYC meeting
>photowalk through the heart of chinatown
lmao well memed
Just do some B&H /p/ meet up

>but I don't want to go to Queens
what's wrong with Queens
So from lower Manhattan to the Aquaduct?
I wouldn't mind going through Flushing Main Street to shoot, been meaning to for years.

Has this passed already? I'd be down for this as long as it is after the 23rd
Definitely interested. I agree on the no Chinatown though.
>>3097657
It's totally out of the way. There's plenty to do in Manhattan.
I would go but we all definitely have to agree on not taking any group photos or of each other without saying it's okay. I do not want to end up in one of those /fa/-esque cringe photos.
>>3097687
>/fa/-esque cringe photos.
That's just because /fa/ is full of toxic insecure posers. By comparison, the denizens of /p/ are mature and well-adjusted, high functioning members of society. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, anon!
>>3097687
You sounds like tons of fun. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want you around.
>>3097740
good thing you're not ever going to a meet, so you don't have to!
>>3097808
Joke's on you, I live in Greenpoint.
Do you guys bring your whole kit or just one lens? I am trying to decide what to bring
Seriously, when we doing this shit. Just got a fancy new lens
>>3097841
just bring 1 or 2 lenses, why would you bring your whole kit?
>>3098431
>not bringing an 8x10 wet plate collodion view camera and portable darkroom to the meet
count me in! please bring your most expensive gear with you. it will be totally safe. promise.
>>3098436
Yea I am trying to decide between the voigtlander 17.5 and the panasonic 20 mm
What are you more experienced folk getting out of this meeting? I understand people who are just starting out wanting to network but you vets don't us around do you?

>What are you more experienced folk getting out of this meeting?
A fun/interesting day trip to NYC, hopefully. I see these things as less about actually taking photos or "networking" than just meeting people and having a good time.
>>3098477
>I understand people who are just starting out wanting to network
Nigger I have a real fucking job. Some people take pics for fun
And the thread is dead
>>3093964
I down, but I'm not gonna eat any cake that your /phagots bring.
