How well does Fuji slide film hold up over time? Let's say it expired in 1988, how much color shift should I expect? Stored at room temperature and processed normally. Finally, does it lose speed like C41 film?

id shot it at iso 30. i dont think there would be color shifts, but expect it to be a bit grungy and murky, maybe grainier than normal. but thats it.

I shot a few rolls of Velvia and Provia expired in 1998 at box speed. Provia had a bit of a red cast while Velvia didn't seem affected at all. Pic related was Provia.

Wouldn't shoot at anything other than box speed personally (and this is generally the advice I've seen), slide film has limited exposure latitude. Color shifts aren't that predictable. Expired film is perfectly usable, but if you need 100% reliable results, shoot new film.
Have shot a lot of expired slides, but nothing that old yet (oldest from 2000 or something), so take the above with a grain of salt.

Shoot it at box speed.
While I've not shot slide film as old as yours, I've shot 15 year old Velvia and 20 year old Ektachromes at box speed previously. The Velvia was as normal as far as I could see, but the Ektachrome had the shadows shift a bit towards purple/magneta IIRC. Nothing too bothersome, but noticable in predominently dark images.

ektachrome ages badly.

Cool, I also got a roll of Ektachrome 64 that I will be experimenting with.

that one ages way better than the rest of ektachromes. EEP100 in particular goes pretty shitty, the newer ektas not so much, but they still shift a bit.
Speedwise it'll probably be fine. It will have shifted magenta / purple most likely though.
Everyone recommending that you shoot it at box speed must not have shit Velvia before. Even when fresh it was recommended to shoot it at 40. Shoot it at 40 and expect to do some color correction in post.

Could you tell me which country this was taken in?
