I enjoy taking photos, i also enjoy driving a car. Now i have free time, and i'd love to combine those two things: so, i'll go on a road trip with camera. I don't really have any plan, i'm thinking about going up the mountains, but nothing is certain.
Any photo-related tips? What kind of places should i look for, how should i travel? Should i stop in random places and try to grasp uniqueness of the place, or is there more effective way to do things?
i'm aware that my questions are rather vague, but i hope for some productive discussion anyways.

OP. Just live happy again my friend. Turn that brain up a wavelength.
hey /p/, /lit/ here. serious question: what is it about this image that oozes such a "comfy" vibe? all the best.
>>3103913
-warm/cold color contrasts, yet a pastel-y tonal range
-fluffy, organic textures and materials - absence of cold, reflective, uniform, glossy surface areas
-hipsterish raised black point makes it easy to look at, nothing 'hiding' in the shadows because there are practically none
its all in the details
>a proper bed with proper sheets, not some fake ass goose feather balloon
>big ass comfortable looking pillow
>big and nice books, they look read and a bit dirty, so its an immersive, realistic image, not a montage. an avid reader would reject the image if the books were the same but brand new ones
>light is just right, not too intense, not too dim
>being able to turn off the lights just crossing your hand over your shoulder is big deal
>wood wall, earthy feels
also lifted shadows and grain (emulating film photography, which evokes nostalgic feelings) and earthy tones in general, highlights are muted and yellowy, its a warm image.
>>3103913
VSCO, aka. film emulation presets. they make digital photos look like film photos. very popular to use today, gives off a "warm" vibe. i wouldn't say this pic is particularly comfy, there
Why is 50 mm considered the popular standard?
Like I understand why 35 mm is great.
>only 8 mm wider than ideal focal length
>won't really distort images
>has larger focal zones than 50 mm (ie a 35 mm will have a greater DoF at any given f stop than a 50 mm will have, which means that 35 mm will be easier to manually focus (he uses auto focus lenses what a faggot))
>you can take photos with a 35 mm at like 1/30 or 1/40 s where as you need to take photos on a 50 mm at at least 1/50 s.
>usually easier to move closer than to move farther away
>can crop from a 35 to a 50 but cant the other way around
>35 not only shows the subject, it shows the stuff around it. Makes it great for journalism
>35 mm is smaller on a range finder. Range finders are cooler.
So why is 50 the standard?
Also did photojournalists use range finders or slrs in general? I really wish there was a pancake 35mm lens for m43 the way the fuji X100 series has those sweet lenses for their range finders.
>>3103716
Because it's the easiest to make good, which made it cheap and available, which made it popular, and people got used to it.

/thread
Take a full frame or 35mm film camera with a lens that's in the 50 to 55mm range and put it up to your eye. Chances are that the magnification and field of view are very similar to that of your eyesight, and that you'd be able to walk around with one eye open and another looking through the camera with relative ease when compared to something wider such as a 35mm ,or longer such as an 85. That's the reason why.
35mm is a nice focal length for sure, but the fact that 50mm is so close to what the eye sees makes it a sort of "standard".
would 60 fps at 720p really look >that bad if upresed to 1080p?
I'm mostly going to be doing wedding videos and music videos freelance.
if you use a really good scaling filter it shouldn't even be noticable with a little sharpening
>>3103636
Well I don't know why you would want to shoot those instances in 60fps. They'll look cheaper than at 24fps like a shitty soap on tv. You'll get better low light performance at 24fps too because of the slower shutter.
If your footage is going on youtube you should always try and upscale the footage to a higher resolution to take advantage of the higher bitrates available. 720x1280 always looks like ass on youtube because it gets compressed to hell and back. You should even try it out at 1440x2560 since it will scale very well since it is exactly 4x the resolution and should preserve the bitrate of the origional footage.
Lads is this a good deal Ricoh GRD iii for $175. I'm going to ask $150. How does this camera compare to the original Ricoh gr digital. How does it compare to my Samsung galaxy s6? Thanks.
>fixed lens
Talk about a lot for a snapshit generator
>>3103614
I can't compare it to an S6, but it has a small sensor that shows considerable noise at 1600 ISO. Still a fun camera to use, though, and the noise has a nice character to it.
I shot a bunch with it years ago when I was still in my street phase. http://sooty-fluorescent.tumblr.com/tagged/grd3
>>3103649
fixed at a focal length that is perfect for street
it's true that the majority of steet shots are snapshits, but whatever

download VSCO to your phone and fuck with the presets.
Probably the least involved way to do it
If you're talking about the moving 'wiggling' photos, these are typically done with weird 35mm cameras like the Nishika. You can do it with a phone app tho

I am looking for info on portrait photographers who were experimental in their nature who have a lot of info about them online.

Av setting kicks so much ass. I only use M when shooting off body flash. Granted I have an exposure compensation dial so I can use Av with that added ability to change the exposure and I don't think I've ever shot with auto iso since like the first time I got a camera
not many here now were there then :(
