There's no reason not to have it built into the body, it's not hard to turn off and can be used for image stabilization for photos and video, pixel shift to remove the limitations of bayer sensors and do tilt shift movements.
They're much more than a crutch, it's like calling a variable iso a crutch.

variable iso IS a crutch

How do high-end compacts like the Sony RX100 mk5 compare to DSLR's in the same price range? Obviously compacts are easier to get around with, and lack swappable lenses, but how do they compare in terms of image quality and actual software functionality?
I've asked myself this question and done my fair share of research, but I thought it'd be good to get some other opinions; perhaps people who might've actually used something like the Sony I mentioned.

No-one is disputing that it's worse, but I was hoping for better specifics. I need a compact, but I'm not dropping close to 1k on one if the image quality is any more than noticeably worse

Hello. I've been doing iPhoneography on my Instagram for more than 3 years now and currently saving up for my first starter camera. I've used DSLR's in the past so I'm no amateur but it'll definitely take time to get used to the transition. I like to shoot urban, landscape, architectural, & night photography but i want to get into portrait, product & video work. My considerations for which cameras to get are: Nikon D750 or D610, Sony A6500 or A6000 for the cheap price, Sony Alpha a7 II, or Fujifilm X-T2. I've been torn between DSLR vs Mirrorless so some advice would be appreciated.
>>3105486
Don't pick a camera based on what you could do. Pick one based on what you already do and go from there. Everyone and their grandma says the "might get into video" so dont let the 4K meme hinder your camera choice.
4k vs 1080p video? is there that much of a difference that i should spend the extra $300-500 for the 4k quality
>>3105486

Can't decide on long lens. Canon 400mm f5.6l or 300mm F4l. Can't afford zoom and don't want one. Also, looking to buy second hand. Anyone who's used both or has any insight either way? Cheers
>>3105515
>get 300 f4 IS
>get 1.4 TC
>???
Now you get IS and a not ancient lens, for the same aperture and slightly more FL.
>>3105519
I've thought about that. What can I expect in terms of image quality loss? I'm looking at a 300mm made in 2006, any known issues with that era? I cant really even afford this lens so I really do the want to fuck up

This is so bad I am not sure if this a troll thread or not but any way...
1. YELLOW - Massive bright/ blown out patches on the edge of the frame that drag the eye away from the subject.
2. ORANGE - The fuck is that bra? and watch?
3. GREEN - Face is too dark, should be the brightest part of the frame as it is the subject.
4. BLUE - What the juddering monkey fuck is she doing it that tree? Picking acorns? So forced and unnatural.
Other than that..... utterly bland and forgettable.

My goal is to have a setup that really shows immerses the viewer into viewing a car that is going very fast, just as if they were right there.
Things I'm looking at right now are how wide the angle of the camera is and where I place the camera. It's going to be at a fixed location and I'm aiming to show at least the whole front windshield. This is where placement comes into affect, if I go back a bit further on the placement, showing some of the driver and perhaps maybe side mirrors too, will that make the car look faster?
As for how wide the angle is, does that affect on the speed perceived by the viewer? I'm not trying to squish the image into one scene, so I do want to avoid extremely wide angles, or perhaps I can crop those sides but then it will affect the quality.
What I'm trying to figure out is what is the best angle and placement for showing the viewer what the driver is looking at and feeling in terms of speed. Another thing I can do is a head strapped camera but I'm looking for a fixed position.
