I've bought some low budget equipment to photograph artwork. any recommendations? is that equ. any good?

>Canon 550D
>Canon 50mm 1:1.4 USM
>Adobe Lightroom 3

I try to shoot indoors, although I want to try cloudy shots outdoors for better results. no studio lights available.
try to go for 5.6 as 1.4 is blurry and gets color aberations at ISO100.
results are the best i ever had so far.

any experiences photographing artwork? (drawing painting etc.)

pic is with the Canon 50mm 1.4, not related to the artwork photography

dusty guitar head. details are well defined, despite APS-C chip size, very little vignette (due to sensor crop as well) and very little distortions
