I have a 1981 c10 pickup, all stock. It won't pass emissions on co.
It has a new egr, new quadrant, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, new catalytic converter, thermostat and fan clutch, etc
In Arizona they use the IM147 test. Measured in grams per mile.
My results are.
HC: 2.40 out of 4.00
CO: 65.66 out of 40.00
NOX: 2.20 out of 5.50
Could it be that I have too much egr? I'm debating plugging it and re testing.
Does ignition timing effect CO levels?
It was set at 0deg when I got the truck and was passing, I have it set at 8deg
What does /o/ think?

This. Also put your timing back to 0. Never heard of a vehicle running 0 btdc stock but if it works do that. Try to run some kind of cleaner in the fuel tank before you next inspection to clean up the fuel system a bit.

How expensive would it be to build a car that is legal to drive on the road and goes faster than a veyron over a quarter mile? Doesn't have to steer like one, just needs to go in a straight line.
Just looked at the quarter mile time for the veyron, and it's 9.7 seconds. Surely that's easily beatable for not much cash.

Although it wasn't intentional, you could get a s13 240 with literally no options. No A/C, no auto trans, roll up windows.

I'm assuming you live in England as you said mx5, so the insurance will be a nightmare on the RX8 and only slightly less so for the Mx5
Basically, if you've got the line on a cheap *running* RX buy that, give it a clean and sell the thing for as much profit as possible. Use the money to buy a decent but cheap mx5 to insure.

I'm thinking something that looks generic but powerful under the hood. Maybe a matte black finish (to prevent the cop lights from reflecting) and a custom button that turns off all rear and interior lights even while driving. The headlights can be turned off normally. Also grey rims (black is too identifiable) but not shiny grey

Why would you get a stand out color for it. OEM black is fine. Kill switch for the rears works if you're running through the toegay
