How expensive would it be to build a car that is legal to drive on the road and goes faster than a veyron over a quarter mile? Doesn't have to steer like one, just needs to go in a straight line.
Just looked at the quarter mile time for the veyron, and it's 9.7 seconds. Surely that's easily beatable for not much cash.

550 to 600 whp is enough to send a 3300lb car into the 9s. a $500 4.8 or 5.3 vortec and $2500 chinese turbo kit in a shitty 3rd gen or 4th gen camaro roller or foxbody roller off craigslist with what ever th350 or th400 tranny you can find should get you there well under 6k if you aren't an idiot

A non shitty way to defeat a veyron would be to buy a used c5 for 10k buy a twin turbo setup for another 10k
Built 4l80e for 1-2k
Radials or slicks for 500-1000 for the pair 23k and you're literally no license plate fast
