Let's have a general discussion about General Motors brands and cars, both past and present.
Pontiac, Buick, Saturn, GMC, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Hummer, Vauxhall, Opel, Holden, Saab, and any other brands GM has owned are welcome, except maybe those Chinese brands that nobody here would know about.
Try to keep shitposting to a minimum, I know GM triggers some of you but lets try to keep this one clear.
>Try to keep shitposting to a minimum
Impossibru!

They say if you shout "alphonse" three times in a mirror he will appear below your comment.
what i'm saying is expect alphonse.
C7R seems to be doing pretty well in endurance racing. almost got yet another 1-2 finish at long beach until one of them spun out leaving just 1 of the 2 corvettes at the lead with two 911s breathing down its neck until the last lap on the final corner "whoops" one of the 911 drivers turned over the corvette allowing the other 911 to win.
I didn't even realize you could do that but it was pretty damn clever. that's what happens when you have two cars on the same team running down a single leader.
Couldn't upload the GIF but its on Jalopnik

front-midship reporting in.
hey /o/ i have a question
my car has no front speakers, and no place to put them, and has quite a nice factory dash that i dont want to hack up. is there any way i can mount speakers under the dash and duct the sound into the un-used aircon vents? it doesnt need to sound mint but id just like to know if it'd be a horrible muddy mess and not worth doing
If you have to ask 4chan. Odds are youll never do it fgt
>>14877329
>theres no way you'll be able to install a speaker and a foot of ducting, its too hard
setting the bar low i see
I mean... I guess you could do that??? there's nothing really stopping you.
I will be buying a car in a week or two. I've spent the past month working out the cars I want and I have come down to 3 options which I would be reasonably certain I would enjoy owning.
I want you guys to tell me every bad thing you can think of regarding the Toyota Prius V, the Mazda CX-5, and the Subaru Outback.
WHAT PARTS OF THESE ARE SHITTY?
>>14877194
>Toyota
>>Prius
>SUVs
Think harder
>>14877206
the fuel economy of a Prius managed to keep it in the running.
all of these cars will be able to do what I need them to. and I somewhat like each of them for different reasons.
so I'm picking the one that has the issues I am most able to deal with, under the assumption that all three will have problems but that some will irk me more than others.
like the Toyota cruise control lever...FUCK THAT THING
how about different cars?
Subaru Crosstrek
Nissan Juke
So here's a question for the serious amateur or professional mechanics on /o/: How many tools of a given type do you need?
I grew up with a lot of tools of my own. Then my father died and left me with a ton his tools. Friends of his have died or moved and left me with more. Then every time I find someone giving away high quality tools I bring them home.
Started sorting out my tool chests today and I realized in some cases I have five or six of the same wrench or socket. Like thousands of pounds of Snap-On, Matco, S-K, Craftsman hand tools.
I don't plan all keeping all this shit but I also don't know what's considered normal in a serious garage. I'm guessing keep two of everything and sell the rest?
Generally only one of each tool. The bigger companies all have lifetime warranty, if they break.
For common stuff, say a 10mm combo, keep 2 or 3, sometimes you need to modify one with a belt sander or torch for a certain job
>>14877441
>>14876996
Three. Two in the garage, because who can be assed to stop a project because you have to replace your only 13mm socket.
The third because I used to keep a moderately full kit in my jeep, three drawer slider tool box.
There is no such thing as too many tools, as long as you've got the space and they don't get in the way of you working (e.g. I can't find my 13mm under these dozen 1/2" wrenches! )
Pros and cons..
I want a mini cooper real bad, but I've heard that it's prone to have problems. Please give any advice you know on this car.
I hope you're a grill.

Ask the owner to turn it off, Tyrone
Being 20 with no vehicle, and a recently new licenses, I stumble on this car today.
'93, manual transmission, 2 door metro, 130,000~ miles
Body damage, only the rust behind the wheel in the picture.
asking $2000, worth it?
Since I made this thread, feel free to talk about your first car post pictures and thoughts.
No nigger.
Buy a corolla. It'll be in the same condition for $700
>>14876782
My first car was a 98 Civic Ex, Manual with 140.000 miles for 2500$.
This looks like a pretty decent deal. Try to deal it down? Or find a Civic/Miata/Corolla in the same price range.
(also depends on area)
Just my opinion tho.

I would buy the shit outta that for $1,200.

Get a Twingo and swap an LS1 into it and they you are one of us.
If you can't name the reason all these cars are shit, you don't belong here;
- Rover 75
- Ford Fiesta ST
- Toyota GT86
as much as i love the prius and realize its truly not a meme
the one issue i have, especially since i was able to drive it for almost 4-5 months this year with a bit of "city" driving but also back road non-stop but 35-45 mph driving
is that MOST of the time you'll feel the CVT find a gear ratio that results in a steady 80+mpg instant efficiency right at line between EV and ICE
but then other times it'll settle on one thats a bit too high an gives you only around 50-60 instant
and sometimes depending on the grade of the road it'll even be above 100 literally fractions from the point where it wants to kick in the EV but it stays ICE
my question is, since this is the 2015 Pirus C and pretty much the latest technology, what else can be done with it to FIX this issue, aside from manual transmission,
is there a way to have a paddle shift type feature in CVT's to sorta control the RPM/gear ratio you have based on certain situations without it screwing up the clutch/transmission?
>>14876636
> /o/ has no opinion
It's a Prius. Literally....no one gives a shit. It doesn't have an "issue". It drives exactly as it was designed...like hammered bird turds.
>>14876636
Don't expect much here, this is an enthusiast board, people who are enthusiastic about driving tend to steer WAY clear of the prius, which is 100% about being miserly and quiet from point A to point B and 0% about the experience of driving.
Sup /o/. Just made this video of me racing ricers. I only lost to the stupid ass modded evo but I can beat stock mustangs baby. Let me know what you think and please no jealous haters. I know many of you own shitboxes and will hate my car for being fast
