Anyone have any experience with this vehicle? I was thinking about importing one. For the longest time I wanted to import a Land Rover Defender, but in recent years they've become too yuppie for my taste here in the US. I love jeeps, but they're too common here. I was also thinking about an FJ40. Any other suggestions for uncommon off road vehicle?
>can't even own a defender
>freedom cuck

They are deathtrap and can turn over on straight road. Spare parts will also be pain in US. Get old G-class or UAZ.
>thinks hes too edgy for landrover
>wants to import a huge piece of shit he wont ever find parts for instead
hey, at least 6 or 7 people on the internet will think youre cool
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-hand-tool/city-of-toronto/heavy-duty-detachable-mounted-car-truck-snow-plow-snow-plough/1198363593?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
This looks too good to be true. I was looking at an old used blade for $500 without the mount (which I would have to purchase for $300) and was preparing to throw down $1000 on an old mount.
But then that kijiji ad came along and it looks like it has it for $250 + 13% tax which looks way too good to be true.
Is anyone here familiar with this kind of mount? All I want is just to plow my driveway, my neighbours', and maybe a small 1km pond for when we go ice fishing in the winter.
Truck is a 230hp 2010 Ford Ranger V6 4.0.
yeah it is too good to be true, i bet that thing lasts a season if youre lucky before its fucked.
your truck itself might be alright for plowing, but realistically, youre going to fuck up your nice new ranger and not really be able to push that much snow at once (since the truck/plow combo is so light) id just try to find an old f250/350 with a real plow on it, it can be a huge heap of shit if youre only plowing with it so you shouldnt have to put that much money in it
just my 2cents
>>15851610
From all these Ranger forums I'm looking at, it seems that you would need a 250x or higher (Silv, F-series, Ram) to push commercial plots of snow.
But the larger I-5 Colorados and V6 Rangers (mine) seem to be able to do light snow like we get in Toronto. It'll be for 10-20 snowfalls in the winter and maybe (maybe) one ice push if my friendo gets his Nissan titan stuck in the snow or ice up north.
As long as its easily detachable or adjustable so that its not "on duty" when you're on normal roads
You do NOT want to hit something solid & attached to the road in a normal pickup truck when going at high speeds
What's /o/'s opinion on Rauh-Welt Begriff?
>>15851591
Huur DUUR stupid ricer wannabe tuner I'm so much better than him when I do basic maintenance on my bone stock na miata he's nothing but a poser huur
>>15851591
I think most of /o/ doesn't like him/ his cars, but I like them not because of the stance shit they're associated with, but his builds are based off of actual race cars and imo that's pretty sick
>>15851591
I like him because I think wide body is always sexy
Hi, /o/. I have a question that I'm not sure if you can particularly answer, but I figured I'd ask you guys first since you're more active than /trv/, and more auto-centric, which is more where my concerns lie anyhow.
What's the best state to live in as an auto enthusiast? Good car climate(s), good roads, low crime/car theft rates, license plate laws, titling, registration, and inspection restrictions, policing presence, general enthusiast community, and so forth. What experience do you have, and what insights and tips can you give? I've narrowed my search for relocation down to 4 main states: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Washington. I've also considered Hawaii, but decided to keep it to the main 48 for now, so if you have any information regarding those 4, and/or the cities therein, it'd be greatly appreciated, along with any other locale advice.
Thank you, /o/.
>>15851549
Washington has one of the highest car theft rates in the country, because property crime laws are not enforced here.
If you park your car on the street in Seattle, just leave it empty and unlocked. It will smell like a homeless person in the morning, but at least the windows will still be intact.

What, really? That sounds fucking horrible. Why would anyone want to live there, then. What if you have a garage?
Alabama is supposed to have awesome car friendly laws
only real downfall is having to live in Alabama
What does /o/ think about the the late 90's dodge 1500's? I know dodge havent had the best transmissions. But are there anything else I should be aware of?
>>15851391
their gas engines are gutless
>not buying a first or second gen dodge with 12valve 5.9 cummins

Dash and all interior plastics cracked, rust, electric problems. Still see plenty of them running around. Had a 97 gas v8.
Great work truck. Abuse the fuck out of it, doesn't matter if it gets dirty or scratches up. Most actual work trucks I see are dodges.
What non luxury suv is the best to lease right now?

Your mom.
Jaguar F pace, very reasonably priced for the SUV world
I'm the anon with the 2004 Audi A6, and I stopped to look at this car today, and the guy that runs the place really wants my car for himself.
He said he would trade me even for this WS6.
What do you think?
Should I do it?
He even said he would find me some different wheels, since we both agreed that the ones on it are hideous.

I'm about to get this for a pretty good price. 1990 Nissan 240sx with a 24KAe with 150k miles on it. Here's what this guy says is keeping it from running:
Battery isnt hooked up, fuel rail and injectors are out, air intake tube and filter are out, valve cover is missing bolts, and throttle line is not attached to throttle body.
He's throwing in a new battery, oil, and new 550cc injectors. I figure he's not just letting this go because he doesn't want to hook everything back up. What do you figure was wrong with it?
>>15850989
>S chassis
Yeah, found the problem
Take it to an actual mechanic and not some anons trying to get a mental picture
>>15850989
A retard is working on it. That's the issue with most 240s.
>>15850989
Its a shitty nissan. They are always broken
So I'm looking for a van that's reliable, good on gas, big enough to sleep in, and one I can Uber with. Any suggestions?
You know an Uber car has to be at least 2013 right?
>>15850832
It's 2001
Sprinter van with the diesel engine.
/o/, I need some help. Recently dusted my 96 Cherokee 4.0 SE off to be my DD. Replaced serpentine belt, lower coolant hose (taken out by snapping serpentine), and did a coolant flush while I was at it. Car is running cool. But after a couple hour drive to bring it home I have a new problem. Check engine light came on throwing code P1017 (lean fuel mixture), have a rough idle when running for a long time, rough throttle response going from 1st to 2nd or vice versa, and my mileage has dipped. From what I can see this cab be caused my numerous things from cracked manifold to faulty O2 sensors. I have no other symptoms other than the mentioned. Don't have the cash to take it in, and am not mechanically inclined enough to go crawling over the entire fuel system for the culprit. Can any one help? At least tell me where to start with simple checks?
How long was it sitting? Did you drain the old gas?
>>15850491
Replace Fuel filter, put high octane and a water treatment additive, drive out a full tank. Refill and see if problem still there
I'd say replace gas cap gasket but you're pre odbii tank vacuum check
Also you changed oil right?
>>15850536
It was winter vehicle for family so driven maybe three times a year. Haven't done oil yet, but level, pressure, and coloration/consistency are all good. Would bad oil cause a bad air to gas ratio?
>no forced induction

Let the butthurt commence.
Also, for my fellow benchracers:
>M4 GTS - 1:37.66
>GT350R - 1:36.11
>AMG GT S - 1:35.30
>570S - 1:34.58
Camaro 1LE should be tested tomorrow. Will GM compete?
>>15850489

I'm literally going to faint when the Ford GT comes out and sets a sub 1:30 second lap time.
Ford is amazing.
>will gm compete
No, not with the GT350R.
>m4 gts came in last
how absurdly expensive is that thing again?
>>15850505
134,000 buckaroos
You could get a Snek or GT-R for that price
So i just bought a 1989 Honda civic wagovan (pic semi related) and I was wondering if the igniter from a 1998 CRV could replace the one from a civic.
>>15850471
Why? Just buy the right one for your car.
>>15850631
Because its an old as fuck car you idiot
>>15852660
So? Just because it's old doesn't mean you shouldn't use the correct/oem parts.
Need some advise /o/.
So at risk of sounding like a spoiled brat, i need to rant/need advise on how to convince my parents of something.
So im interested in pic related, a 66 el camino, as being my first car that i buy with my money. But sadly i have to finance it because i dont have 13k saved up. The problem is, since this is my 1st auto loan, i need parents to co-sign so i dont get raped by interest and other stuff.
The problem is my parents want me to buy something new-ish because thats the only way i could ever have something reliable. They want me to get a 4cyl Taco or something similar. (good luck at finding one that isnt 10 years old or with 150k miles for that price range) They've been appliance owners whos "maintenance" is taking it to the shop for anything over an oil change and a car wash; I on the other hand have no problem working on vehicles as ive done before. So any advice on how i can convince them to help me buy what i want?
>Inb4 "lol just take what parents give you, you entitled cunt!"
Im 22, just finished college (stem degree) and am going into the coast guard as an MST. Money wont be a real problem seeing as ill be living on base.
Im paying 5k down payment with my own money, and paying the car note/insurance on my own. Literally just need a co-sign to not get raped.
I want an older car because ive had to replace nothing but useless electronics and smog crap/plastic pieces that somehow manage to halt the vehicle on my 2004 silverado along with their toyota and nissan. Im tired of all that useless stuff and want something without all those features.
>>15850335
Not sure what tell you. If I was paying the note and insurance my parents wouldn't have a problem co signing. They told.me if I can't make the payments they won't and either I sell it b4 it's repoed or they will.since they won't have me fucking their credit.
>>15850335
Take your 5k cash and buy a Ranger and fuck right off
Pros of el camino: Other than this being awesome and not another econoblob;
-383 with 700r4, so i should get 18-20mpg on highway vs my "economical" V6 that gets 13.
-0 rust what so ever.
-Has the sound system i want.
-4 wheel power disk brakes
-rebuilt/new motor/trans/rear end, so drive train is all fresh
Cons: (what i know my parents will point out)
-Paint isnt perfect, a few small spots
-small dent in tail gate
-and the major concern for them; no A/C in Texas.
I dont even use the damn A/C in my truck, so thats not a factor for me.
Oh and the last thing they always try to guilt me with; "You'll disapoint a lot of people if you use your graduation money (the 5k) for something foolish."
So am i in the wrong for wanting to buy this thing vs making my parents happy? It'll be my Daily Driver.
Also; I havent fallen for the new=reliable meme.

>jag
>jeep (parents bough a 93 cherokee new and in was in the shop for major repairs after 20k miles.
