Exactly when do you blip or press the gas when downshifting?
Is it when you put the stick on neutral or when you already put your stick on the lower gear?
49 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
You're supposed to keep your foot completely down on the gas when you shift!
>>
>>15853875
Right before you release the clutch
>>
I almost am at a point where I'm blipping the throttle as soon as the clutch detaches from the flywheel.

You can take as long as you want to rev match just as long as you hit the correct rev though

So, I need a beater /o/. Wanna keep the miles of my mazdaspeed3.

What do you guys think of 4th generation Civic sedans?

I've always liked the boxy and simple looks, cheap to maintain/repair, and I could probably buy one for cheap with a swap of some sort.

The speed limits on most interstates here are 70mph when you're out of the cities.

Do old brake pads and rotors effect performance?

Like I have a Mustang with 110k miles. The brakes are about a 1/3 of an inch thick and the rotors are still stock. Will getting new pads and rotors improve my braking performance?

performance oriented brake pads (Hawk, EBC, stoptech etc etc) are designed for reliable fade resistance vurses normal dildo pads. Normal pads can heat up and get mushy as fuck during spirited driving. Performance street pads are one step up from those, not that great for dedicated track use but they're more than adequate for street driving

But usually theres an offset, the higher the pad is rated heat wise, usually will be loud as fuck during "normal" operation and not last as long as conventional brake pads

Buddy has hawk HP+'s on his S14, were great at the track. During normal DD duties, he has bus brakes that were ultra dust 9000. Like german-car levels of brake dust

Pic unrelated

I was going to pick up an 01 XJ soon, and it has a known cracked 0331 head (i.e. oil is already a chocolate flurry).
My question is, what's the best way to drive it home (50 mi. away)? I already have a good engine to put in, so I don't give a flying fuck what happens to this one, as long as i can get back.
Is it worth carrying a couple of gallons of water for when it inevitable overheats, or is it more worth the time to pull off and let it sit by the side of the road?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If you have an engine for it just bomb it home with the heat on blast and some spare water duder, it's a 4.0, it should probably run fine with the coolant at 300 degrees for 50 miles.
>>
Change the oil with the cheapest shit possible. Bring water. Drive slow.
>>
>>15853148
That's what i figured, i'm just worried about washing a rod bearing since the oil is already slush

>>15853168
Think i should bother? I'm not opposed to the idea but will it really make a difference in the 50 miles it'll be running?

Most reliable Land Rover/RR? Does such a thing even exist?

>most reliable Land Rover

The answer to your question is a Series IIA or III. They are practically unkillable, I own several so I have experience. Not the fastest things out there, but they will go anywhere and get you back every time.
>>
>>15853089
What about newer defenders? Do you have any pictures of your series Land Rovers?

Anyone know anything about the Audi UR s4/6 or can just formulate a cohesive sentence with your opinion? I don't know shit about Audi's, I have only owned Japaneses cars.

>found about ur s4's about 6 months ago

>better then average condition
>diamonds

Im going to call the guy up tomorrow and see when I can look at it, I have an obsession with driving unicorns and 4 door sedans are at the top of my list. They made less then 3k of these (not sure if US only or including euro-poor) its just a sedan so its not that expensive the avants go for crazy money though.

Pros:
>audi quatttro awd with T1 torsen (100% mechanical no electronic bull crap)
>aan 2.2T 20 valve
>mechanical locking rear diff
>also shuts off ABS
> 6.2 0-60 in 1993

Cons:
>3800lbs
>23 year old Audi
> parts go for quite a bit more then a normal 1990's car.
>timing belt
>Audi

Bodyshell is double galvanized, so it pretty much won't ever rust.

Engine and drivetrain are massively fucking overbuilt, will run until the end of time if you keep up on regular maintenance. The inline 5 is like a 2JZ with 1 cylinder less, it's that strong.

Everything else will break though.
