I got into an argument, and i'm settling things with a drag race. the person i'm racing has a white car with no vtec and i'm pretty sure i can beat it.
I'm pretty sure i'll win right /o/? just making sure.

he has a double spoiler dude you can't win
Idk mang, he's got more exhaust pipes
What is the red one? Mazda?
Going to buy a used Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, what should I watch out for? Does high idle time matter? Just need some heads up, thanks!
Wow that is a beauty
>>16293983
idling tends to build up carbon, put more wear on things due to lower oil stagnation...if it runs good i would say go with it though. just have things like that in mind. also see if you can look at maintenance records.
and don't fucking stance it and ruin what it was originally purposed for. they put steels on them and covered the motor and drive train to drive them OVER things, not AROUND them
Yes you'd want to try to find lower idle hours typically. Though mine is a run of the mill patrol car with 8600 hours and it's been running fine for over 2 years as a DD. I'd be prepared for the little quirks of a cop car. Like the dome lights don't turn on when you open the door, ultimate bare bones interior. But if you're fine with that it's a great car. Look in the driver door for the axle code, try to get a LSD one if you can.
When you decide to go for a ride late in the evening or perhaps maybe at night to clear your mind or just relax, which song is your favorite?
I have a few, but this is the one right now.

Can we just admit modern BMW can't do anything right? A Camaro SS 1LE is just as fast as their track special with less power, more weight, less aero, more practicality, on street tires, for the third the price of the GTS.

GF curbed her car, put a hole in the radiator and bent the condenser. I pulled the radiator/fan assembly out myself but had to have a shop (trusted mechanic) do the condenser due to freon. I had him reinstall everything and it ran fine... till we were about 10 minutes away and it started to overheat. Had it towed and he changed the thermostat. Car can idle no overheating but after a bit of driving/rpm usage it starts to overheat again. It had been bled and he didn't see any collapsed hoses. He said some of the hoses remain cold when they should be warm. Thinks it may be a defective radiator. Water pump is last resort. Both kind of at a loss. Any one have a shot in the dark or any tips? Car is 2012 v6 mustang.

it's totaled bro. time to go car shopping.

Kek right. It's weird though. Will idle all day at normal temp, but a few minutes of driving causes the needle to jump, just driving under 3k around the streets. Fans seem to come on but it rises quickly

Thinking about getting this 91 legend for 1500, what do you guys think. I got a 2000 dollar limit and I live in Sarasota County in Florida. I want something with a v6 and a nice ride.

Anyone here got a 2.5L Subaru?
I'm looking at this '00 Forester S with only 75K miles on it for $3500. I've been reading about early 2000s Subaru wagons online and it seems like a ton of them end up having head gasket failure. Is this inevitable with all of them or can you get lucky and not have them fail early?
Mine didn't fail in the first 100K miles.
But I've heard they can fail anytime between 120 and 200K miles. Just budget for it and keep an eye on the fluids. The fix is permanent AFAIK.
t.'02 Forester XS, sold and bought a '14 Outback H6

Feel in the rear wheel well if the top is closed or open.
There's insulation that gets wet and rusts from the inside out on the older ones.
Rear wheel bearings. Check em. It's a huge, colossal pain in the dick if the car is rusty. Pre o2 is bad I think, ball instead of needle.
I bought mine for 1350 and sold it for 2 grand, 220ish on the clock.
I hated it by the end and went back to a volvo

Thanks guys. I'll try to check some of those things out when I go to see it. Also if the HG repair is a one time thing, then it shouldnt be too bad I guess. I'll likely have to replace the timing belt in it if I do buy it, so maybe I can get the HG done along with it.
Hey /o/, my commute is pretty long because I'm a yokel and I'm looking for a comfortable car to cruise around in(i also take long road trips quite often)
After some research I ended up with:
>saab 9-3
seems unreliable as fuck
>volvo s60
looks comfy, volvo has a good reputation
Is the s60 the best option in this class(comfy cruiser, does not have to be luxury) or should I look at some other brand?
Pic related, some s60 i found on the internet, price is low so there must be something wrong with it, i'm looking for more around me
I'm looking to spend 5 or 6k shekels on a used one
>>16291570
I got a S40 2.4i 2004.5 for $7.5k a couple years ago
Nothing but little problems, oil trap fucked out, sunroof drain hoses came out, expansion tank disentergrated, battery went flat randomly
Not bad compared to a yota or some shit though
> now I've got a '82 244 and its fucken sweet, no issues at all
>>16291617
Well, are there any modern(post 2000) cars that don't suck ass? Its not about cost of repairs, its about losing your time wrenching it daily(because a new thing breaks every day) or taking it to a shop all the time(and being stuck with either my shitbox or a borrowed car from the stealership)
Fiance's old '04 S60 felt pretty worn out by 115k. Interior trim flaking and failing, cracked leather, SRS airbag light and dash info display in permanent epilepsy (bad solder joints I'm told). Driver's side window regulator broke (cheap enough to fix, but need VIDA to reprogram auto-up level). Front end had already needed some work (tie rod ends) and the spring isolaters had failed I think, causing a rattle over bumps. On the positive side, the paint was of excellent quality and very durable. Underside there wasn't a lick of rust. The seats were some of the best I've ever sat in. Fuel economy with the 2.4i motor was pretty good, especially on the highway. The way it tracked down the highway at higher speeds was impressive. Between the comfy seats and that surefootedness, the car absolutely gobbled up highway miles. Oh the rear seat is tiny, less room than a freaking Civic.
So as long as you're willing to tinker with a few things (VIDA diagnostics would be a must-buy IMO) or have a good Volvo indie guy around, they're alright. Avoid anything pre-04 like the plague, those have premature wearing transmissions due to a stupid programming issue, as well as some throttle body problems from what i understand that were fixed on later cars.
Overall I wouldn't really associate Volvo's reputation earned with the old boxy RWD cars which were much more DIY friendly, with the newer FWD stuff, especially not the Ford era P2 cars when they went to a CANBUS electrical system and all that jazz.
I'd recommend an older Toyota Avalon for comfy worry free cruising on a budget. $5-6k should get you a really nice early-mid 00s model with a ton of life left in it. Just change the oil regularly and keep the timing belt job in mind if it's due. Perhaps you'll miss out on the Swedish seats, but you'll get a car that wears like iron and is comfy as hell (softer riding than Volvo for sure).

What makes 90s Toyota and honda so much more reliable than the competition?
>>16289111
Naturally aspirated four cylinders.
>>16289111
Because people that own Yota's and Honda's tend to take care of their cars. Most domestic cars get beaten and abused.
>>16289130
I mean considering the civic was the most sold car ever in the 90s I don't think that's actually true idk
