I'm an amerifag moving to germany in the middle of next year for work. does anyone know what I need to do to procure a car? I'm not sure if the company will provide one or not, but if they do, can I just drive on my american license? is it good for all models of cars or are there restrictions?
>>16297526
You can drive with your US license for six months, afterwards you need to get a German license.
Alternatively you can get an International Drivers Permit (IDP) from the AAA or National Auto Club, valid for one year, after which you need to order a new one or get a German license.
I'm pretty sure anyone with a valid residence here can register a car.
As for restrictions I couldn't find conclusive information on American licenses or IDPs, but just to be on the safe side I'd stick to the same limits as the basic German license if I were you. Class B means 3500kg/7700 lbs GVWR with up to eight passenger seats, plus a trailer up to 750kg/1650 lbs, or a trailer that weighs more if a GCWR of 3500kg/7700 lbs isn't exceeded, tongue weight always subtracted since it counts into the load capacity of the tow vehicle.
>>16297602
Oh, and Class B also includes motorcycles up to 50cc, and certain kinds of farm vehicles.
>>16297602
>>16297609
thank you for the help. so I am good to drive a twingo for 6 months, but by then I must have a german license. do you know if that would involve going through the full driving instruction? i know it takes a long time and costs a lot.
>go to youtube

Nothing but fucking project cars or GT6 video games.
Fucking autistic video gamers ruined youtube
Well yeah, video games are better than shitty cars

ok busrider
Video games and RC are hobbies for pussies that can't commit to the real thing. Total waste of time, energy, and money.
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a 2013 sho /o/. Anything I need to know about?

fo sho, you should buy one
Made no research, so it's probably some dumb shit, but:
A tool that helps you go faster around a circuit. The map of the circuit is memorised (don't know how accurate this will be without the map), and an experienced pilot who knows what the car can does a laptime. You then have a racing line like on nfs shift (couldn't find a better comparison) on a head-on display
With the help of these sensors, the car helps itself slightly to adhere to this line, break at the correct time and quickly accelerate based on the pilot's performance for instance, but without diminishing the driver's input a lot
Without the memorised map I reckon that a camera and sensors could still help a little with
cornering
The car's performances and abilities will generally be taken consideration of, so that the system doesn't pull off weird shit
whaddya think
If you need yet another computer aid to drive around a track, god help you.
>>16297265
ya know, for the babbys
automation will anyway prevail so something around this idea might eventually happen for a google """"racecar"""" or sth
>>16297245
If you're going to have the car put in inputs to keep it on the line and brake/accelerate correctly, you may as well go fully automated.
Which Audi has already done.
I could see a projected racing line as helpful for novice drivers, but there's almost always one worn into the track by cars driving on it. The only time it would be helpful is if the rubber on the track from all the other cars wasn't there.

So the Toyobaru looks to be redesigned and rebuilt in the next two or three years. Will it suck less?
>>16297038
only busriders and benchracers believe toyobaru sucks.
It just needs a bit more torque with a better curve. A bit more HP would be nice, but I know they could make it good with the FA20 with the right tuning if they tried.
>>16297038
here is exactly what is going to happen with the redesign:
>lots of complicated technological interior bullshit
>50 different """sport"""" modes
>7 more horsepower
>5 more torque
>extra 400 pounds because of "muh safety"
>visibility is gone
>electric forza tier steering
>tacky & bright color choices
>pricing starts at $29k
basically they're going to ruin the simple drivers car they created for something that appeals to autistic millennials.
enjoy the 2013-2016 toyobaru while you can br/o/s

Audi is rebadged VW

Hey /o/, I've been watching some vids lately and wanted to ask this: would you rather:
a) Switch cars from time to time for a better stock performance
b) Throw money at your current vehicle to make it better
Pls elaborate
>>16296832
I switch cars, I have one for track, one for dd and another family vehicle. Want another to take to shows and events though. Idk that's just me.
Former because German inspections have the potential to make performance modifications an incredible pain in the ass.
I want to start by getting a good base vehicle that isn't a slow shitbox then keep it for the next 10 years while gradually making it fit me better the whole time.
Sup /o/,
The heating on my Dodge Ram 2008 has stopped since I replaced my water pump, and now there's sound of water slushing when I accelerate.
What I tried:
1) I tried unclogging my AC drain, but there was no condensation there.
2) Tried emptying any stuck air in circulation, but that didn't help.
3) Kept close eye on the coolant levels to see if there is any leaks, but Coolant level is topped up and there's no leaks under the car.
Things to note:
1) There is absolutely no water leaking into the cockpit.
2) The left side of the radiator is slightly warm, while the right side is hot.
3) No Coolant leaks under the truck.
4) The car definitely needs an AC charge up, but is that related to the heat?
5) The engine temp is always a tick below normal
6) Water pump has been replaced a few days ago, and the water gurgling sound started after that.
I took the truck to a mechanic to get his view on the matter, and he believes that the Thermostat needs to be replaced, however, the two lines in and out of the Heater core are both very hot to the touch so I'm not definitely buying that, he believes that the fact one side of the radiator is slightly warm and the other is hot is a dead giveaway.
Can someone please advise me on what to do, I'm so fucking done with winter temperatures and I really want my heat in this shitty ass winter.

come on you useless cunts

Change the thermostat yourself it should be easy right on top of the engine at the upper rad hose.

It's objectively the best small car you can buy from a practical standpoint but I it's not very aesthetic imo
What are your thoughts on dpf systems?
>>16296526
>Makers cars more expensive
>Uses more fuel to protect the environment
Useless
>>16296622
>heavy equipment DPFs requires a special vacuum to clean out the soot out of them
Fuck the DPF.
Wet systems are unreliable as fuck, that pig piss can get into the engine oil and turn it to jelly.
Dry systems seem to treat the engine better.
It doesn't seem to deter the urban dieselfags from buying them even when they only do 3k miles a year and never go near a motorway for them to burn the soot from their DPF.
Why is my oil purple?
