Post mileage and the mileage the last oil change was done.
Also feel free to discuss what filter and oil brands are the best and worst.

FRAM a shit

Penzoil Platinum is GOAT. Was using synthetic blend shit and my engine's guts were blackish. Used PP high mileage and now I got to change my oil again soon. Cleared lots of shit out. Had to use fram cause all the filters I normally use were sold out errywhere. Had to order filters online.
FRAM a shit.

30k, just a few days ago. Before that was 22,500, and before that was 15k. I use Mobil 1 extended life 5W-20 (says it's good for 15k miles but fuck that) and Mobil 1 filters.

Do you have an aftermarket shifter or knob?

I've seen automatics with custom shifters. Best one was a fosters tap knob.
I make my own
Never took a decent picture.

If it actually saw service as a police vehicle, it probably saw more routine maintenance as part of a motor pool than some random nignog that hooned it for 100k+ miles.
The drivetrain should be fine, and the 5.7L HEMI is pretty robust.
Nothing except 17 year olds telling you it's pigfat chrysler garbage, while they eat mcdonalds and drink smirnoff
Got fucked over by others parking too close in my garage and got a scrape from a concrete pillar.
What is the best way to repair deep scratches? From my research I should fill hit with fine sandpaper to level the raised paint, fill with putty, level that with solvent. Add touchup paint. From here I'm not entirely sure of everything I need to do as this is where the how to's I've seen stop. Pretty sure I need to buff with some kind of compound or fine sandpaper then add another coat of paint, buff again then clear coat, buff and polish.
Any advice?
Also is the putty sufficient to prevent future rust problems? I'm going to be repairing just a few days after it happened, but there's salt and shit on the roads.
In addition to the deep scratches there's some shallower clear coat scratches, what is the best way to repair these? (picture not related)
>>16736334
Dude, you're fine. That's 100% cosmetic and it's not going to rust before you get it repaired.
wash your fucking car so we can see damage.
Watch this video and fix it.

Had a volkswagon for a week so far. Might already have electrical issues.
>2007 Passat
>Parked it last night
>Showing the passenger all the random electric shit the car doesn't need
>Click the electric parking brake on
>Click again
>Doesn't turn off
I might be screwed now
I looked up the parking brake thing to see what might have caused it and it might just be that it doesn't turn off if your door is open or seat belts aren't fastened. We were parked so my seat belt was off. It was beeping so I clicked the seat belt thing so I don't think that's why. I know I opened my door before that but I think I closed it but I'm not 100%. I won't be able to get to the car for a few hours so I have to wait and see. If it's not those things then I'm fucked right?
wtf why is it electric? for what purpose?

My younger brother is turning 16 soon and my parents are trying to figure out what car to buy him. I had some shitbox most of high school, but if you could have the option, what car would you have had in highschool?
I was thinking a jeep, or a hatchback with loud ass speakers for picking people up in. What do you all think?
Thanks.

I was really into the AE86 when I was a kid
>>16735290
I had this when I was in high school. Small (sorta), dependable, easy to work on if something were to fuck up but I never ran into that scenario. Gas mileage was decent. Good truck all around. If he want's a car, get him a corolla or altima or something.

Either a Pontiac G8 simply for the awesome handling and hick appeal or a Jaguar XJ for the awesome driving and supreme comfyness.

Been wanting a WRX for while
How reliable are these cars or how fragile are they?
Are there certain models I should avoid and how difficult would it be to find a stock one?
>>16732550
>glass tranny
>mediocre engie
>front wheel drive biased all wheel drive system
Stay far away
>>16732569
>glass transmission
yeah, if you do 5000 RPM clutch dumps everywhere. In normal and spirited driving that doesn't involve lots of driveline shock (i.e. shifting properly and not being a dumbass) the gearbox is fine as long as you're putting in fresh gear oil every 30k or so. Also adding power breaks the gearbox pretty fast.
>mediocre engine
Ok, 160-170 horse at the wheels is nothing to write home about. However, if you disregard my warning about the transmission not liking bigger power, you can easily make 220-250 at the wheels. Sucks to work on, but oh well. It's specialty like a rotary.
>FWD-biased
Wanna know how I know you've never driven a WRX? It's a 50-50 split front and rear in manual WRX's, it is balanced and you can induce over and understeer almost whenever you like. Playing in the snow is fun as hell because of it.
>>16732550
>How reliable are these cars or how fragile are they?
Depends but used WRXs are generally not highly rated in reliability because they've all had hard lives at the hands of their previous owners.
>how difficult would it be to find a stock one?
Fairly.
>>16732569
>front wheel drive biased all wheel drive system
The WRX has a 50/50 split through a viscous coupling center to an open front and a rear viscous coupling LSD. The Evo is front wheel biased, and by front wheel biased I mean it spends most of the time as a FWD car since it can only send a maximum of 50% of power to the rear and only when the computer thinks it's a good idea.
