So, let me understand, do you Americans use the car when you want to buy a so-called coffee?

Sup br/o/s I drive a Saab 95 2.3L with an autotragic. I love the car and want it in a 5 speed. I know the easiest solution is to buy one but first of all I live in Canada and there so fucking rare to see and when you do see one it's best to shit and auto. Second of all I just got a speeding ticket and want to talk to my insurance company as little as possible. So would it be easiest to buy a donor car and just swap everything or to buy a 5 speed transmission and swap them. What would I need from the donor other than trans ecu and pedal box?

>>
>>16747733
for one thing, this job is clearly not feasible for you to do, and for another, a saab 95 is still going to be a shitbox with a manual
>>
>>16747733
seems like a whole lot of work for absolutely nothing you shouldnt swap unless your auto trans shit the bed. but even then I'd just buy a new car with a manual
>>
>>16747733
On top of this, if you swap it to manual without telling your insurance company, good luck trying to get any money out of them when you claim.

Hey /o/. Just picked up my first manual a few weeks back, got a 2SSRS 2010 Camaro with 40k miles. So far I'm loving the car. Got past stalls after a few embarrassing ones in public, starts are smoothing out. Slowly getting used to the car.

I'm struggling with cleaning up my shifting. From first into second, still somewhat jerky because I'm being slower with the clutch in lower gears but trying to shift fast. Also, I'm wanting to shift faster in higher gears. Do you guys have any recommendations to clean it up? Any tips?

The other thing is should I only be hitting the throttle after the clutch is 100% out in higher gears? Any info helps.

>>16747708
On my car the method to shift fast is the same as shifting smoothly. I need to shift the gear while depressing the clutch (the bite point is really high up, so the transmission disconnects from the engine real fast), when the clutch is on the floor the stick is on the next gear. Releasing the clutch and going on the throttle happens at the same speed that I got on the clutch/off the throttle.
>>
>>16747708
Dunno about camaros but my wrx has rev hang in first and second which makes shifting into second smoothly a real chore.

Unless you're finding the revs dropping too fast I'd stay off the throttle until you're fully in gear for everything but crawling around a parking lot and getting going from a stop.
>>
>>16747708
I'm so bad at teaching people to drive manual. Dad gave me the quick parking lot lesson, but most learning was done by myself through pure trial and error.

So they're "remaking" the Alpine A110, one of the most beautiful cars I've ever set eyes on. Except, it's hideous.

>tarbo 4 cylinder
>0-60 4.5 seconds
>dual clutch DST flapper paddle things
>starting at 80k
Just fuck my car up senpai

The original A110 was beautiful and slow, but sounded heavenly. It was light and nimble and had a 4 speed manual only.
This one is ugly as shit and try-hard and will likely appeal to Euro-yuppies, if it appeals to anyone.

What say you?

My $30k Mustang GT is faster

Sup /o/,

I'm in the market for a confortable sedan, whatever powers it doesn't matter much to me. I'm currently looking at a 2003 Passat GLX 4motion with 116k miles on it and I was wondering what the common issues were. I'm also looking for 2009 model with the turbo and noticed they weren't very expensive and wondered why.

I'm also looking for alternative, and open for suggestion for a sedan, rwd fwd or awd that ride quietly and smoothly, with power being the least important factor.

The B5 Passat is a complete maintenance whore, thanks to sharing most of its mechanical bits with the B5 Audi A4 and C5 Audi A6.
The B6 is a bit less wallet-rapey since it uses mostly Golf parts instead.

Honestly, just get a Lexus.

For us in the south east US, it's pollen season!

How do you cope with it? Tips? Tricks? Do you just give up and pray for rain?

Are these good trucks /o/? There's one for sale in my area for pretty cheap. Looks pretty clean. I need a reliable daily that will allow me to pack my shit in a hurry if necessary. Ive never been interested in trucks but something about this thing is really speaking to me.

But you have to drop the tank instead of accessing it from the inside and if you don't want to do it yourself it's like 600 bucks. At least that's what the mechanic told my friend.

Hey /o/, today my 07 pontiac grand prix got an engine life code p0420, says it's catalyst system efficIency below threshold, I went to take a peek at the converter, as close as I could get right now, but you see those rubber rings? Could that snapped one have caused my problem, and how do I fix what it's caused?

That's pretty fookin' impressive for kit cars. How modern is the design and tech on those Factory 5 kit cars? Are they basically modern racing chassis with a old timey body on top?

>How modern is the design and tech on those Factory 5 kit cars?
Very. They use a program called Solid Works to design the chassis in CAD. The Chassis' are then all welded together on a specially made jig assuring they're all the same.
Are they basically modern racing chassis with a old timey body on top?
Yes and no. They're racing style tube frame chassis' with specific suspension parts from each donor car. Like Their Hot Rod, COupe, and Roadster kits which are based on the Fox/SN95 Mustangs. The kits use the entire live rear axle from the donor cars if you don't opt for the (recent expensive addition) option of the 2015 Mustang IRS..
The 818 kit actually uses the most parts from its donor car, the GD Subaru Impreza. It also uses the steering rack, lower control arms, brakes, hubs, steering wheel, seats, etc among other parts.

sweet all this for the same price as the lambo. If I shill enough motortrend on demand stuff I'll have the money to buy one in no time.
