I was talking with my non /lit/ gf about books (more like me telling her shit that I read) and she seemed interested. She doesn't read but she told me she would read if I suggest her a good book.
So /lit/ time to be useful for one fucking moment in your life. Suggest me some books that are ok to give to a gf and make her read more. I have this once chance to make my beautiful gf into a beautiful /lit/ patrician gf
Probably something like the bell jar

Questions that don't deserve their own threads:
Well, I'm a little disappointed. I found pic related edition of Master and Margarita and bought it without doing any research on what translations/editions are good, so I only just discovered, halfway through the novel, that it's based on the censured Soviet edition. I think I'm just going to go ahead and finish it, then read the complete translation afterwards. So, what are the recommended translations for this?
>>8432287
Burgin and O'Connor
>>8432299
this.

This time the le P&V suck meme is actually right; their translation is middling. It's quite good in the original Russian though.
best books for/against racism
politics not allowed
want : intelligent arguments from fields of metaethics, psychology, neurosciences, no-homo-sociology
do not want: pathos, political rhetoric of any kind, blind acceptance of current year yolo values
kant and socratos were racist against niggers despite strong nigger cultures at the time.
(antisemitism not interesting too much memetic influence imo)
I want the truth!
just read herrnstein & murray and decide for yourself
Hey /lit/
Anybody here have experience of non-fiction book commissioning?
I would like to write the biography of Ted Kaczynski (and Michel Houellebecq), does anyone have any idea how to go about pitching this idea to agents / publishers?
I would self-fund travel expenses, do my own research, find individuals to interview and so on and I know I would make a great job but I'd only do all that if I knew someone would publish the work.
Are you the OP from the other day who posted the god-tier thread on Teddy? If not, don't fucking bother.

Yes that was me, but why would that matter?
Ted's brother David recently released a short book (~150 pages) about their life but there is so much to Ted's story which interests me but which isn't available. From the age of 27 until his mid-50s he lived such a tumultuous life, not only concentrating on his manifesto and socio-political theories but also attempting to find a romantic partner, making attempts to re-immerse himself in society, and a lot more that is barely mentioned in the articles which simply state he was a hermit for over two decades. I think there's a human story in there (I don't support what he did nor do I really support his thesis in whole) which would be interesting to tell. In the court documents for his legal case there is mention of an autobiography he himself wrote that was something like 250 pages in length. I'd love to find out what happened to this, why he felt compelled to write it, how early in life his feelings of alienation and so on began, and a lot more besides.
If he hadn't quit Berkeley there is strong evidence he would now be someone much respected in the world of Mathematics, and would have his own wikipedia, books and all the rest of it. His life not only went "off track" in a mundane sense (e.g. burnt out and taught math in highschool) he lived a life completely out of sorts with the late 20th century culture in which he lived. It's a fascinating story in my eyes, and I wish I could tell it in whole.
Recommend me novels which are structured more like a group of connected short stories.

Why do non writers do this? They think we have to plan creativity. News flash bozos, creativity just pours out through the tip of what we channel it through. They just love to ruin our groove
