Has there been any cases where a guy with a lot of ideas simply hire more talented writers to write for him while he simply outlines the plot?
like outsourcing writing fiction?
I know this happens with script writers for film.
No because ideas are useless.
It's only happens on film because the idea is pre decided and usually shit
>>8664019
yeah, but what if I write a plot summary and pay a good writer to write the book.
>>8664005
James Patterson, but AFAIK only after he became a rich and famous hack.
Do you think making a movie out of Confederacy of Dunces might be interesting? Give your honest opinion.
>>8663970
Sure
>>8663970
The only movies that get made now are oscar bait or superhero movies. If it was a straightfaced comedy about some /r9k/ type I guess it would be ok, but lets face, this generation of directors are either James Franco or Zack Snyder types, and neither are going to make a subtle comedy about overeducated delusional mysoginistic NEETs
>>8663970
no. the book wasn't interesting, so why would a movie be? "oh, lol he jerked off to his dog" fuckin plebs, i swear. the guy had to kill himself before he even got published, the DFW of his time. if you fucks had /lit/ back then you'd be meming it into oblivion.
What do you think about manga.

Literature that encourages bodily disgust, anyone?
I'm terribly disappointed by having bodily pleasure on my mind all the time; I cannot get that requires severe mental effort done without constantly being distracted and feel like a filthy animal for it. I'd rather be done with it for good.
>>8663916
read the philokalia
>>8663916
We are filthy animals.
Read de Sade, Nietzsche, Foucault, Freud, etc
>>8663916
Shit, a qt grill wants to read the prose poetry I bragged about
But it's shit
Wat do /lit/ ?

Well you seemed to have learned how to rhyme, maybe write some traditional verse and show her that instead.
is she patrician?
Yes.
No.
Maybe.
So i don't know if this belongs here, but when i'm writing at my pc, my mind dissipates from my body. Is this some sort of thing which happens if you meditate?
I tried replicating it by meditating, but my mind was racing to fast for me to concentrate for it to work. Though i feel refreshed right now, no idea how long i was doing it.
Oh yeah, book recommendations are welcome.
>>8663843
I suspect what you're talking about is a "flow" state. This state is achievable through meditation but it does take work. If you meditate correctly (I would recommend concentration or "samatha" meditation) for 30 mins a day for a couple of months you should start noticing some results.
>>8663862
Is it something other people experience? Mind you i don't often write, nor do i talk to a lot of people who do.
To be honest to myself i'd like to know if it's special, i'd like it to be so.
Is she as good as they say?
>>8663783
The books are really good, the covers were a terrible marketing decision. They are definitely a brilliant example of sincerity in literature, as she takes down machismo culture and second wave feminism in favor of a sort of brutal examination of the paths to perdition that we all take, being especially careful to rip herself apart the most. I read all 4 in a little more than a week.
>>8663791
are you a woman(m)?
>>8663838
No. And again, this is why the covers are terrible marketing, they do not reflect the book and they suggest housewives buy it, when 3/4 of it is sexual awakening and predation, violent Neapolitan thugs, academic spats, and labor battles.
Give me your trendiest books /lit/. They don't have to be good. I don't care about quality, I just want the most fashionable fiction and poetry that money can buy.
Pic related, obviously
It's not going to make you trendy.
Worn out second hand editions stacked some what neatly because they don't fit on your bookshelf always get me pussy OP.
NYRB books.
The Dalkey Archive edition of The Recognitions.
Based on the fact that you put Fitzcarraldo in your post, I'd recommend Pushkin Press. They are trendy in a similar way, almost like they're emphasising the boringness of the texts
If the world is Will and Representation, how is askesis possible? Obviously it cannot be found at the level of Representation, since individuation/objectification is the root of strife and sorrow, yet the Will is blind striving and Schoppy thinks of askesis as lack of Will, lack of individuation, etc.
>>8663721
meditate on art, according to him
>>8663722
Yet he thinks ideas (the things art deals with) are still representation, just at the most basic level (but still plural, still individuated).
Another thing I don't get: why is Schopenhauer labeled an idealist? I know he works "within" the German idealist framework, but he says Will precedes Representation, and while the world-as-representation will die with the subject, the will-in-itself will still exist. This seems pretty materialistic. Even though he implies that the laws of nature, the history of the universe, etc. are representation (formed by us according to the principle of sufficient reason), he doesn't think the thing-in-itself comes from the mind.
I think it's because Marxists and other materialists are so committed to their view of the world that works according to laws that they are "subjects who have forgotten themselves" (- Schoppy) and are blinded by their rationalistic hubris.
>>8663721
women, am i right XD?
I need to know if universals and objective forms are true and really exist. This is very important to me. Thanks for your help in advance.
I'll prove they exist to you if you can prove, to me, that you aren't a figment of my imagination.
>>8663697
Your imagination doesn't have the power to generate systems and substances when it has no knowledge of their compositions and how they work.

Not horrible OP. Try using less "I"s though and to let some of the descriptions become less personalized.
