Is there boypussy in it?
It says it on the cover, fuckwit.
A novel.
Can anyone that owns this edition (Dalkey Archive Press) of The Recognitions please take a picture of the first or second page of text? The Atlantic Books edition my library carries has shit-tier printing, and if this editions any better I'm just buying it online (nowhere near me carries it). Any notes on the quality of the pages/cover page would be appreciated.
It's a well constructed book.
this is nice marketing
Are there any charts on how to get into Schopenhauer and Nietzche?
Towards the bottom of this:

You don't need a chart. Schopenhauer tells you exactly what you need to read to understand him in the introduction to the world as will and representation.
You don't even really need Schopenhauer for Nietzsche, though it enhances the experience, for Nietzsche just have a good understanding of Plato/Socrates and the presocratics, Heraclitus in particular. Some general knowledge of the people he brings up all of the time (Epicurus and Kant) is also useful but not strictly necessary.
Oh also you should read the bible.
I am writing a story about a woman who falls in love with and has a forbidden relationship with a dragon. I already have agents coming to me about representing me. My point is if you want to be published you have to have a REALLY good concept that makes people want to read it within one single sentence. That is what people like to read these days.

Does the dragon represent the black people contaminating our women?
>>8661563
nice bait, but on the off chance that is somehow remotely true I may throw up a little.
Let me tell you about the Dragontails.
Saged.
What is the /lit/ approved translation of the Bible?
>>8661492
for literary value? KJV of course
for patrician points? Vulgate
for extra points? Septuagint
for the logical conclusion of that line of thought >translations mfw and so on
>>8661492
James the first, King of England, France, and Ireland, defender of the faith's translation

As literature, KJV
As a biblical scholar, pic related.
Who was the most /lit/ dictator of the 20th century?
I'd stay either Stalin or Ayatollah Khomeni. Both were exceptionally well-read in ideological and philosophical works, and also quite widely published before their ascension.
Lenin was certainly more intellectual than Stalin, but I'm not sure if he can be considered a dictator given the collective nature of early Soviet leadership.

Ideology, not even once

the greatest lit dictator to ever have lived would have been Trotsky. stalin is a philistine in comparison. the sheer literary output and breadth of Trotsky's writings is immense and his style is unrivalled.
So why is called " dos mil seiscientos sesenta y seis" anyway? the number is never mentioned

The net pleasure gained from saving the lifes of 30 malarial infected African children is inferior compared to the displeasure caused by posting /lit/'s taste of books on reddit.
Think about it.

Was she secretly red-pilled despite being a feminist icon?
>women want a strong man as well as the opportunity to be proven equal to her piers
Who dunk it.
>>8661414
>women want a strong man
Except she's clearly implying that women get wet for men who are violent and oppress others. Also men who are above them as opposed to being equal.
>>8661383
She was just honest about how she, like all women get wet when a man beats her.
Most overrated works of literature in history.

You have to understand what Nietzsche means by women and feminity and truth. This is in no way referring to the beating of women. But if truth is something radical, if it operates by means of the power of the false, then you should be ready to grapple and "tame" such a force. Derrida's reading in Spurs is a decent understanding of this problem, even though others such as Land reject such an academic approach.
In the end, I do not think it wise to read into this quote as a shallow sexism.
wondering if anybody knows of any writers that focus on the failure of modern philosophy/literature/art to enact change.
why is it that businesses, politicians, etc. seem to DO something and so many intelligent arts student types suffer from inertia.
Like why do people not apply ideas? Are they too theoretical? Or are people so inert because they realise they can't change how things work?
I don't think Socrates actually said that.
