Dear combat veterans of /k/. Those of you who got to fight in two different theaters, Iraq and Afghanistan. Questions; What was differences and similarities to the Iraqi Insurgent and Taliban boy? Which country did you prefer to fight in? Which one made you scared? How does it feel to have fought in 2 different countries?

Any other insight is welcomed.

Nice trips, this is gonna be a good thread.

>>What was differences and similarities to the Iraqi Insurgent and Taliban boy?

The "Iraqi insurgent" was a fucking coward. Straight fucking coward

>Be on patrol in the triangle
>Out of nowhere truck comes Tokyo drifting from the desert and engage us
>Engage back
>Monkey boy fired like 10 rounds at us and drove back where he came from
>Request to go after him
>"Aw fuck him hes probably wounded we lit him the fuck up"
>2 minutes later he comes right back shoots at us again
>Engage
>Drives away
>FUCK THAT LETS GO AFTER HIM
>"Screw it"
>Find the car abandoned with intact PKM
>What a waste, and we'll probably get shot at him again

At least the Taliban will fight us to the death instead of running like a bunch of pussys.

Iraq always scared me more than Afghanistan. For me Afghanistan felt like a nature walk 70% of the time. Iraq was just any window could be a sniper, or any shitty dirt corner could be a 30 pound IED. Whole houses and just gravel up in the air smacking you in the face or whatever. Fuck that.

Air Force to brief industry on defensive laser development for F-22, F-35 and PCA
November 03, 2016 |
Jason Sherman

The Air Force next month plans to brief industry on a new project to ready a speed-of-light defensive weapon for the F-22A Raptor, the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter as well as a planned follow-on fighter capability in an effort that aims to demonstrate a prototype laser pod as soon as 2021.

On Dec. 6, the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM, will outline for industry plans for the "upcoming" acquisition, the Laser Advancements for Next-generation Compact Environments (LANCE), according to a notice published on Federal Business Opportunities Oct. 25.

"The objective of the [briefing] is to provide a timely update to the government-contractor community on the mission and vision of the LANCE project," according to the notice.

The LANCE project -- led by the lab's laser division of the Directed Energy Directorate -- is intended to support a larger project: the Self-Protect High Energy Laser Demonstrator (SHiELD) advanced technology demonstration program. The SHiELD demonstration aims to find a way to make a laser, powered by tens of kilowatts of electricity, function effectively at supersonic speeds by demonstrating system performance under stressing aerodynamic conditions.

Earlier this year, the Air Force asked industry for feedback on its idea for a LANCE project, soliciting "information on industry's capability to advance electrically driven lasers suitable for compact airborne application in an aerodynamic integrated pod-like structure carried on 5th- and 6th-generation tactical aircraft."

I live within a few miles of the Virginia coastline. If nuclear war happened, aside from hijacking a boat and fleeing out to sea, I'm pretty muched fucked, as this would be a massively targeted area. If I were to flee to the appalachain mountains to the western part of the state, hiw much protection would it provide from the nuclear fallout? Would the elevation even matter?

If Hillary gets elected, I need to come up with some kind of budget shelter plan. A filter mask, some iodine, idk. I live in a brick house, maybe put some cookie pans in the attic because fuck it why not. Maybe some mylar sheets to drop over the roof? A bunch of water and food. I don't know, if Hillary gets elected we're going to die.
Please vote.

Does the Norinco ban outright ban all Norinco products after the ban went into effect from being imported, even privately from another country? Or does it just affect direct importation by Norinco into the US market?

>Or does it just affect direct importation by Norinco into the US market?
this
the only norinco being imported to the us currently would be iac shotguns
>>
>>31905840
So theoretically you could buy a Norinco product in Canada and bring it into the United States? Or would that violate the ban somehow?
>>
>>31905883
If this is legal I should set up as an importer and just buy dozens of Type 97s in BC to sell here.

How are Anderson Complete Lowers? Any good? Is their "no-lube" gimmick legit or bunk?

>>
>>31905694
I got an anderson lower and a PSA upper and it rattles a lot.

I also have an RRA lower and a del-ton upper and it's been rock solid for years with zero rattle.

Other than that, I couldn't point to any tangible difference.
>>
Lowers experience literally zero stress and 95% of all AR15 lowers on the market come from the exact same factory because it's all outsourced to one place.

Buy whatever's cheapest and made out of metal and there's no difference.

We always talk about Infantry SF but who are the global Operaters who Operate in Armor? Is their such a thing as a nation who has a special type of Tank crew that could be considered Operator tier?

>>
>>31905498
No, you sit in a steel box and shoot shit, usually in a group.
>>
You see, "Special Operations" is a term for operations that are separate from conventional warfare in some way.

This typically means things like raids, reconnaissance, and other small scale actions.

An armored crewman is almost certainly going to be involved in a large scale conventional engagement.

Here's a hypothetical for everybody to discuss in what I'm sure will be a rational, well thought manner

So, hypothetically, you're a nogunz, new AWB goes into place and you can only buy bolt/pump/lever action rifles and shotties. Let's go hard mode too and say no handguns period.

So what guns do you buy for the brewing civil war when restricted to these categories

To be honest OP get whatever gun you like. These days they are all good. S&W is great. I personally own a glock 43 but I'd have no problem getting that gun and if it fits your budget go for it.

I am looking at getting a Ruger LCP for .380

So through the joy of the shooting sports I discovered I have astigmatism. I bought a "fieldsport" red dot to attach to my new AR to try one out (I've only ever shot with iron sights) and was surprised to see two red dots instead of one when looking through it. So let me ask, what is a good optic for an individual who has astigmatism?

Prism scopes.

PA offers used (mounted never fired) and blems deeply discounted on their official eBay page. I picked up a 5x for $190, while they usually retail $290.

A 2.5x compact prism (PAC2.5X) will run you $159, and has an etched illuminated optic. Apparently people with astigmatism fair better using prism optics.

Nevada here too. All of my family is strongly against question 1 and there are a couple "vote no" signs in my neighborhood at least

It better not. I didn't move across the country just to have this state turn to shit.

On the plus side I keep seeing "Vote No on 1" signs and haven't seen anyone that supports it, though I'm a far drive from Vegas so I don't know what people think down there.
