/k/ommandos I plan on buying a magpul d60 drum mag for my ar at a gun shop tomorrow and enough ammo to do a drum mag dump (or two) with my brother tomorrow.
Im on Hawaii and the only public range only allows five rounds in a magazine and you can't shoot in rapid succession.
I have never done a mag dump and being a new gun owner I have been craving to shoot as fast as I can (without bump firing) since buying my ar.
I am now wondering do I do the mag dump with my thumb over the barrel like your idol Travis Haley or is there a better technique? I would like to keep the target and get decent results. Also How far should I have the target?
I know this probably doesn't deserve it's own thread but buying a $120 drum magazine and over $200 in ammo is quite an investment for a poorfag like me.

I was just explaing why I am excited, because all I ever do is target shoot at the restrictive public range.

So what happens if I put my AR pistol upper on to my AR rifle lower? I thought about doing that and heading to the range. Is this legal? Both guns were purchased legally and so far as I know bashing different parts together has never been or will be a crime.
