So through the joy of the shooting sports I discovered I have astigmatism. I bought a "fieldsport" red dot to attach to my new AR to try one out (I've only ever shot with iron sights) and was surprised to see two red dots instead of one when looking through it. So let me ask, what is a good optic for an individual who has astigmatism?

Prism scopes.

PA offers used (mounted never fired) and blems deeply discounted on their official eBay page. I picked up a 5x for $190, while they usually retail $290.

A 2.5x compact prism (PAC2.5X) will run you $159, and has an etched illuminated optic. Apparently people with astigmatism fair better using prism optics.

been thinking about the primary arms 2.5x compact scope. Is it true prism scopes help with astigmatism?

Those repeating digits mean it is a good purchase.

I also have an astigmatism and never have this problem. Wtf?

CHECK EM

seriously though, I've looked around and other than Vortex (which is still more expensive) nothing in this price range offers these features that primary arms does. I'm going for it
>>
>>31905484
could it be the quality of the red dot? or the size of the reticle or brightness? shit I forgot to add that I wear glasses as well
>>
Red dot is a meme and only good in CQC.
Buy a scope and don't be a faggot

Have you seen the torture testing? A guy turns it on, fills a big Ziploc bag with water, submerges the optic, and freezes it in the water overnight. The next day, he uses a hammer and screwdriver to chisel it out of the ice, and it still works fine.

Primary Arms/Vortex prismatic scopes are good. Vortex even has a prismatic 1x if you don't want magnification.

Try some of the higher-end red dots too. If your astigmatism isn't too bad, it may play nice with them. I can make out the dot on an Aimpoint H-1 way easier than I could with my old pre-Holosun Primary Arms red dot.

only one of my eyes is problematic, but it's my dominant eye
>go with the smallest red dots you can get so the bloom doesn't make them too large to work with
>prism optics are a little better in my experience, but not perfect
>consider optics with etched reticles which may be used without illumination
>adapt, don't bitch or give up
>>

I bought it, what a great fucking deal

>shit I forgot to add that I wear glasses as well

Lol wear your glasses or contacts. This is what's affecting what you see through your optic.
>>
>>31906964
actually I meant I WAS wearing my corrective lenses while shooting with the red dot

How does it compare to Vortex Spitfire 3x (in particular, warranty)?
