Why is slam firing not a thing in shotguns anymore? It was such a high demand feature in military shotguns that the SEALs chose the Ithaca 37 largely because it could slam-fire
We had the M1897, M1912, M520/620, and the Ithaca 37 that could slam-fire. Now, practically all manual-action shotguns feature a disconnector to prevent slam-firing.

Is there any practical use for infantry carried Directed Energy Weapons?
Assuming we develop the technology to allow for stable high energy density power packs (which is a huge assumption), would these even be more effective than plain old lead?
What tactical purpose would they serve?

My first machine gun would honestly probably be an AK. I'd either go with my own NPap or just pick up a new one, then drill the third hole and throw in a new fire control group.
Alternatively I'd get a giggle switch for the glock 19.
Either way it would probably be a retrofit. Other than that I'd want an actual GPMG like an MG3 or an FN MAG or a PK in .308 (which I am sure would start to appear)

/k/ I am seriously considering joining the marines after I finish my senior year. I don't want to spend the next 2 or so years working the same retail job and going to school for a degree and job i'm not even sure I want. Everyone I try to talk to about my decision, all they say is "don't join anon you will die/get shot/waste your young adult hood" my brother is the only one who seems to support me and giving me helpful advice for a head start. Is there really any drawbacks to joining into the military? (besides getting killed of course but that can happen at any job.)
