If GLOCK made a G17/19 ect. pistol grip out of metal instead of polymer would some of you 1911 /k/illers come to the dark side?
>b-b-buut anon. Are you satan?
Among other polymer lowers like Sigs would any of you consider that or are Sigs just a meme at this point?
Thanks for the replies! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.

...or Glock could just improve the 1911.
>>
>>32360607
I could give a fuck bout the polymer, I just don't like the trigger.
>>
If they had a manual or grip safety instead of the stupid fucking trigger safety I'd gladly buy a Glock, especially if made of metal
>>
>>32360626
THATS fucking awesome. Where can I find one?
>>32360663
Always improve with a ghost trigger....
>>32360705
A frame safety or what?
>>
>>32360626
one does not simply improve the 1911 without making it something that isnt the 1911
>>
I dont like how glocks feel in my hand
>inb4 1911 design or whatever ditch bitch constantly spouts
I dont like how the weight is distributed when the mag is empty and the slide is locked back. It feels like its too top heavy, I just dont like it. Its not "too" heavy or anything, it just feels awkward to me. So yes, a metal frame glock would certainly be something I'd be interested in.
>>
>>32360728
True.
>>
>>32360607
You assume we hate Glocks because they're plastic. That's simply not true. We hate Glocks because they suck.
>>
>>32360607
they are ugly as fuck, the 1911 is god damn beautiful. That is why i will never own a glock. To be honest the Glock is more inline with John Brownings ideal. But Fuck i dont think he would want one due to the plastic and ugliness.

>>32360626
how do you improve perfection?
>>
>>32360773
>suck
I've used a G19 for three years now as my CCW and it preforms extremely well.
I've had my 1911 for 4 years and only CC'd it several times.
I love both but i'm looking for outsider info.
Please educate me!

Metal Glock frames have been around for awhile. There are plenty of reasons why people don't like Glocks or 1911s, many of which are mutually exclusive.

This. Metal frame, manual safety, or I won't buy the pistol. There are exceptions to the rule, but they're rare and usually hinge on said pistol being a curiosity, e.g. Five-seven, Mk23, Walther P5, etc.
That said, I still dislike the Glock even if you fix those problems. I just don't think it's a very good design, personally.

its a photo shop.

were do i get that bushing?
>>
>>32360849
It's a standard bushing. You mean the spring plug? It's a fired .45 case.
>>
>>32360823
IDK, I'm just spouting bullshit. My only experience with a Glock was fingerfucking one in a store. I didn't like how it felt.
>>
>>32360824
I've done this several times, but I always get nervous about the bushing twisting on me. Since it doesn't lock it down like a proper plug does.
>>
>>32360824
Would that actually compensate as a legitimate bushing?
That's gnarly as hell.

thats depressing actually.

>>32360860
dammit you are right, i do mean spring plug., I thought the shell casing would be too big. Give a minute.
>>
>>32360894
Nope. It's part of the design. Allows you to use a casing in a pinch if something happens to the plug.

well shit, thanks for the knowledge my friend. Im not going to shoot it like this but its cool.
>>
>>32360607
No.
>things I like about 1911's
The trigger
The grip angle
the sight radius compared to other pistols of similar length
>things I like about Glock
The fact that no matter which Glock you buy, it's gonna be reliable-enough for carry without modification
The price

Now, you can make a Glock trigger nicer, and you can buy a longslide Glock to get the sight radius. But it's still gonna be an unergonomic brick. And even with a complete Ghost competition conversion the trigger's still not as good as a medicore factory 1911 trigger and nowhere near what can be done with aftermarket. The sights themselves are a nonissue, you can install pretty much whatever-the-fuck-you-want on either, from LPA target sights to microdots to Heinie str8-8's. And you can tune a 1911 to be dead-nuts reliable, even on a cheap model, and all it will take is time and maybe a $40 extractor in case you fuck the factory one up. But tuning a 1911 is a goddamn art form, it's not even remotely scientific. Closer to interpretive dance than physics. And from the weight point of view, you can get some VERY light doublestack 1911's with hybrid-polymer frames and lightened slides and the whole 9 yards, down to where a loaded fullsize one weighs less than an unloaded G26.

But for me, nothing points more naturally and shoots more easily than a 1911.

>The price
Why does everyone say this about Glocks? I've never seen really great prices on them, compared to other polymer pistols.
>>
>>32360942
Thank you for your perspective!
>>
>>32360939
You can - I personally fired a magazine through one to prove a point. Not sure how long it would keep working but it's good to keep in mind in an emergency.
>>
>>32360835
Do you need an FFL to get this?
>>
>>32360988
Because pretty much every factory-new Glock is $500 plus or minus $50. Whereas 1911's range from $400 to over $2500 for a non-semicustom gun, and the sub-$700 ones have well documented long standing issues from the factory.
>>
>>32361003
As long as the bushing retains the recoil spring, so up to about a 30* turn.
>>
>>32361008
Yes
>>
>>32360988
Glocks are the Honda civic of guns. Reasonably priced, easy to own/service, reasonably reliable, and a big enough aftermarket to turn the thing into just about anything you want.

They're promoted as affordable because it's good value for money, not necessarily because an off-the-shelf glock is the head and shoulders best in its price range.
>>
>>32361017
Cheap compared to a 1911, but not other like products. Everyone says "huh huh Glocks are cheap".
>>
>>32361050
True, but ITT we are directly comparing them to 1911's.

So, COMPARED TO A 1911, the low and stable price is attractive.
>>
>>32361017
>sub-$700 ones have well documented long standing issues from the factory.
not true, the only ones with real problems are the ones less than 3" barrels.
>>
>>32360938
3 or 4 doesn't really matter to me tbqh. I like my 4's but a 3 would be fine.

>RIA's have spot-treated frames and don't even meet milspec
This has been true on every model of RIA ever produced
>Colt 1991 (series 80)'s firing pin safety can freeze in place and lock up the gun
This is an issue of build quality from the original manufacturer of 1911's and has persisted from 1991-present.
>the series 80 existing at all
"hey let's attempt to fix an imaginary problem and make the gun worse in every regard in the process"
>Colt 1991A1s slides cracking at the relieved ejection port
Has been an issue from 1996-present.
>Springfield Armory using investment cast frames instead of forged on non-TRP models
Has led to numerous cracked frames under normal use, has persisted 2006-present

Yes, the subcompact 1911's have issues too (regardless of price point), but pretty much every sub-$700 MSRP model ever produced has had an inherent flaw that's both long-standing and well documented.

>What would constitute as a weapon design of complete perfection?
>I'm taking a personal sensuous
Census, I assume? Anyway...

>9mm
>ambidextrous controls
>open slide (both to prevent stovepipes and ease clearing malfunctions)
>wedge lock instead of Browning tilting barrel
>metal frame
>manual safety, preferably frame-mounted
>DA/SA, hammer-fired

For me, personally, something between a Beretta 92 and a Walther P38 would be ideal, perhaps with a frame safety and/or separate safety and decocker. Take a P38 and slim it down by swapping the dual recoil spring configuration for a conventional single spring under the barrel, make the controls ambidextrous, and and possibly move the safety down onto the frame (though I'm perfectly good with a slide safety). Single-stack mag is fine, simply for the sake of keeping the weapon slim.

I have a bit of a thing for the P38. It's not a perfect gun, but at least by my standards it comes pretty damn close.
