Sorry to anyone who asked a question on the last thread without getting a response; feel free to ask again.

I spent all of the past 2 days working on this thing. I was so amped up from the level of response this project has gotten that I decided to move up the prototype build from 3 weeks from now to right this very moment.

I was in one hardware store for an hour, in another for 2; and spent the rest of my day speaking to a carpenter family member about the stock. It's been full speed ahead, and at this rate I can't imagine it will take very long until the first firing. Certainly not 3 months.

Currently waiting on Barrel (Min length + 0.5), custom buffer springs, and striker spring.

Well, CR2 is horribly obsolete (two piece 120mm), and it looks like they have no desire to upgrade such. Not that I blame them; the CR2 is obsolete, no matter how much armor is on the turret.

They should just buy M1s from the US when they realize they need a modern MBT.

Why not replace the Challenger 2's gun? The tank itself isn't obsolete; it's had the least incidents in terms of armor penetration and disabled vehicles.

the tanks won't be scrapped, they'll be kept in depots as a reserve and can be bought back into service relatively quickly

My grandpa (mom's dad) actually got me into guns when I was about 14, spending the summer at my grandparent's house.

I actually ended up getting my parents into guns after I turned 18 and started my collection.
Between the two of them, they own five guns I think, and both CC fucking everywhere.

Also have gotten my sister's boyfriend into guns in the past year or so, he bought a vintage S&W Sigma and a Remington 783 in .308.

Trying to get my sister into shooting too, she really doesn't much care for it. Not that she's against it, she just doesn't care much for it.

Fuck yeah he did. As I've grown older its still how he and I relate and bond. When I head home for christmas we're going to reload a fuckton of 9mm and .45acp for me to take back. I'm really lucky that I get to share moments like that with him, and I'm always thankful for it.

Meh. The whole bayonet problem in the 1940s was probably its death. Folks kept trying these itty-bitty spike bayonets like the M1903 Springfield and the War Department kept laughing 'em out of their trials. That, coupled with the fact that with a fixed bayonet of sufficient weight, durability and sturdiness made the M1941 Johnson rifle into a straight-pull bolt action, yeah, that probably sank it.
