How close are you to the level of the artists you look up to /ic/?
i look up to god
I look up to kjg
>>2613056
Not very but I'm motivated.
I look up to Kim Jung Gi and Dave Rapoza and I'm trying to be the mix of those two.
Let's list some of the most shamelessly pandering shit a freelance artist can draw to gain new followers and/or commissions.
I'll start
>dick girls
>sparkly rendered cutesy fan art ala sakimichan
>"photo studies" of pretty girls or anything with a lot of detail and texture
Btw, is gay furry really that much more marketable than the straight kind or is that just a meme?
Porn for money just because their art isn't up to their par. Absolutely disgusting.
>shamelessly pandering shit
Okay. I will start
>Biblical themes

I spent all day hand drawing these pictures for a joke towards some game developers (the boy saying "Soon?" and the girl scarily looks and says "Soon!!!" and the boy looks frightened and is teary eyed.
But then I saw that you could put almost anything there and make a jack ton of funny stuff, and I even made a second picture where the boy's face look's aroused or happy for... I dunno, a funnier effect? xD
This is the other one.

What's gesture practice?
I've not heard of it, did I do something wrong?
Does anybody have a good source to download New Masters Academy videos from?
I really need Steve Huston's gesture drawing guide in its totality.
>>2640066
Somebody posted this in a thread for anybody else looking

I want to draw like this, but I have no idea where to start. I read art books and it seems simple but then I draw and it turns into fleshy blocky bullshit!! WTF? HELP ME ART!!
>>2639742
>dat hand
If you really want to draw like that don't even bother wasting your time.
At most I just wanna do more than scribble dicks on a page like a chump

First thing you need to realize is that this is a cleaned up inked drawing. That means that it is done in two phases, drawing first and inking last. The drawing phase is usually a bit messier. This is true both to traditional and digital mediums.
(one of) your problem(s) might be that you're attempting to get the final clean look straight away in the drawing stage, where you should be drawing through and using construction. Ofcourse, really skilled artist can produce amazing looking inked drawings without a under drawing but if you're just starting out you're just going to be frustrated if you attempt to do this directly. Hope that helps.

Looking for some advice. I need to improve my color usage and theory. As of right now I cannot afford a new tablet but I do have access to cheap art supplies through my college. What are the advantages and disadvantages to various traditional mediums, I'm looking for something that will let me put out a lot of work in a relatively short amount of time so I can work on improving fundamentals rather than spending a week+ on a single study. What would you guys advice.
Watercolors are the fastes thing to work with color.
maybe markers are easier but never used those.
cheap gouaches will do imo
gouache is probably the closest thing you have to digital painting and they are really easy to use. you need some thick watercolor paper though.
Share your favorite /ic/ entertainment. This thread is for books, movies or any entertainment that is about about drawing/painting or similar to /ic/'s mindset in the meta form.
This thread is not for the most beautifully/artfully made entertainment, but instead about making beautiful art itself.
Starting out with the best, Kakukaku Shikajika.
A manga about a girl going from high school to becoming a manga artist. She learns to stop being lazy and to just draw after her sensei beats her mercilessly with a bamboo sword when she is too slow.

>That's not my tempo
Why does no one ever mention this one?
how do I stop being such a cynical asshole and "delude" myself into drawing/improving? like being all optimistic and shit.
I've been taking meds for years, changing them around many times.
I started exercising for a week but I still feel depressed and shitty as I was before
no hugbox shit
I just want to find solutions for this, I'm sure there's artists who are and have experienced this

Someone in this thread will try to comfort you and tell you not to be too hard on yourself.
Someone in this thread will tell you it's all about discipline and hard work.
Someone in this thread will tell you that you don't have the spark.
Someone in this thread will tell you to kill yourself.
Someone in this thread will tell you to read the sticky.
In the end there's no real solution for your problem. Drawing isn't going to make you a happy person if you've been having issues for a long time. Just keep going and try not to think about getting gud and making it all the time.
I don't really have a solution. I just feel the same way I guess.
The solution is a nice, long fap every day.
You get up, you eat, you finish whatever mundane shit you have to do, you stroke one out and you're suddenly full of elan, ready to catch art by the throat and bash its stupid little skull in until it learns to love you.
Now, you can't just rub one out in a couple of minutes, that's just a waste of time and accomplishes nothing.
Sit down and wrangle that pecker for an hour at least. Once the body is satisfied, the mind is eager.
Sex also works, but only if you live together, or you can send her packing immediately.

This does the exact opposite for me.
Is there any high-resolution scans of Kim Jung Gi 2013 Sketchbook?
The one we have is really really shitty in quality and we can barely see the drawing
I'm betting that it already exists in some obscure Chinese or Koreans sites, just like the recently released 2011A sketch book
>>2632453
bumpp
You mean the one scan in the Artbook thread?
>>2633698
Yeah the 2013 one, the scan quality is so crappy, even Kim's twitter uploads have better image quality. The scan quality of 2011A and 2011B is perfect though
Anyone do grime edits here? Ive always been intrigued with them and love to see some
Pic related: my edit

get out of here and do some shit rap video or something
I'm very interested in commissioning some digital art of myself like pic related. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, but I'm willing to pay someone who does.
Where's the best place for me to find decent, not insanely overpriced artists to do commission work like this? DeviantArt is just too cumbersome to browse.
If you want anime style
Then xong.deviantart.com
>>2638485
Not particularly, but thanks for the recommendation all the same. The conceit would be that I'd likely get this printed and framed (and use it online as well), so I'm going for something a bit more realistic.
>>2638488
Pretty sure he can draw in realism
