I was in japan recently and I saw a book called "Best Pose Book". I bought a few Super Pose Books and didnt have money to buy that one too, but it seemed worthwhile too.
How do other Artists get away with making terrible mistakes in fundamentals that would otherwise be a bad drawing and yet they have an appeal of some sort? How is this possible?
How do I become oblivious and bliss again I've been in this maelstrom for years never posting anything out there either because of fundamental flaws or the end product just didn't come out to my satisfaction.
Yet I see other Artists as if they have no remorse in their terrible work, why? I just want to be happy again.
>>2639833
Stop being a fucking faggot and draw you fucking emo.
>>2639833
You don't want to be like them--mediocre for life. Just buckle down and get through your studies and one day your star shall shine the brightest.

>Yet I see other Artists as if they have no remorse in their terrible work, why?
Because they have something they want to express and share with others and you don't.

What art teacher from your school made you wanna never do art again?
>13 year old asshole me
>painting with water colours in class
>copying some painting from a book
>I fuck up and use too much water in a background spot
>everything is blending into each other in the back
>decide it's actually kind of cool
>make the background in that style
>feel like it's getting really cool!
>main object in picture popping out great and shit
>teacher sees it
>she does not feel it's cool
>pissed off
>"why do you have to be so individualistic?!"
>goes to another student
>...a better liked and generally less annoying student than me
>she's basically doing the same thing as I was
>"wow, that's very creative. Good job."
>never touched aquarelles again
>>2641887
I call shenanigans. or your memory has tricked you.
>>2641888
Maybe this wasn't as dramatic a moment as I remember it, that it's just my dreams being crushed that makes it feel that way, but this teacher very genuinly disliked me, though. We once had a task to cut fabric into the shape of a door and sew it on other fabric. Basically, make a sewn picture of a door by using layers of fabric. I made a perfectly adequate door, and yet she gave me an E.

How do you manage to draw after work? I'm mentally finished and tired in the evening and the stuff I draw looks like shit. It's just impossible. I'm even thinking about quitting my fucking garbage job.
>>2640897
At the start of the day write down exactly what you are going to draw after work.
Get in to the habit and it will feel weird not practicing even if you are tired. Works for me.
My job isn't stressful so it's not hard to put in another 3-4 hours into drawing at the end of the day.
>>2640897
really fucking hard to be honest. only advice I could give is move somewhere quiet, where rent is cheap and get something part time.
Last thread: >>2626414
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

I feel like there's something wrong with both her arms and her legs but I'm not good enough to explain you why.
is there point on "drawing what you see, not what you think it is" for artists who want to learn how to draw from imagination?
When drawing people or objects, with living references or pictures, shouldn't I use the same construction techniques? If so, that means that every drawing I make while using a reference is always going to be slightly different than the real thing, no matter what, as opposed to pic related, which is a drawing someone certainly made by "drawing what he saw, not what he thought he saw", don't you agree?
>>2640983
Its about avoiding symbol drawing bruv. In any case you dont copy a reference but analyze it so that the constructing blocks are adequate.
>>2640983
You need to do both. When you do studies that focus on construction it's just that, a focus on construction. It's only one but many aspects of a successful drawing. You need to "draw what you see" in order to expand your visual library and build your shape language. Shape is just as important as form.
>>2640983
yes, if you want to go from the ground up, first you must learn how to copy, then how to design form/3d, perspecive, then values, color and so on
trying all at once produce nightmares
>there are people who didn't start drawing at the age of 2 months old

Why do japanese artist's stream on Nico? It has fucking horrible interface and from my understanding, in order to stream in the first place you have to pay a fee. Why do they settle for Nico Nico streaming when much better alternatives exist
Genuinely curious
>>2640263
It's more known than any other social media in Japan for that kind of thing. It's like streaming on 4chan and expecting them to come watch here. Some artist use ustream too anyways.
>>2640266
Have japanese not heard of Twitch or Picarto. Nico streams fucking suck and they have this weird thing where they stop whenever the time limit is up
>>2640273
Twitch isn't really a Japanese audience focused streaming service neither is Picarto. Although, you can say they're gaining a bit of traction, but it's not like they pander to the Japanese like Nico Nico does.
do i suck ?

Is drawing yourself in the mirror more like drawing from photo reference or drawing from life?
Life, I'd think.
For one, you wouldn't be still, light/shadows will change with minute movement. and it'd be easier to capture that sense of reality in your study.
>>2641037
Completely irrelevant.
Life drawing is about depth perception, ie not looking at a flat surface.
anything about art style is accepted, especially original art style.
I really like Joe Colquhoun's work in Charley's war and how the art seemed cartoonish but at times brutally realistic.
What are some good art related jewtubers?

Quick question, if a person is at about 7-8 heads tall, how many heads is a 8-10 foot tall person? Is their head the same size as a normal person? What about 15-20 foot tall person?
>>2639074
head heights are a great way to imply the height of a character without any readily available set pieces to help you set scale
realistically speaking, the adult human head stays roughly the same size no matter how tall you are or whichever set of genitals you were born with, usually somehwere between 8-10 inches tall (barring extreme outliers)
i'll split the difference at 9 inches and multiply from there to get a rough estimate of head height to height in feet/inches
7 heads = ~5'3"
8 heads = ~6'0"
10 heads = ~7'6"
etc etc
now beyond 10-11 heads tall things start to get extremely goofy, to the point that you'll need to start increasing the size of the head along with the body or else it becomes too uncanny, tho it all really depends on the style in which you are drawing/designing said figures and how you want the characters to come across. study artists/characters you like to see how they went about designing hyper tall figures and experiment a lot
>>2639314
Good answer
>>2639314
Thanks so much for the info, so like at about 8-12 feet tall would you say adding an inch or a half inch to the head would look more proportionate?
