Hello /ic/ I know we mostly talk about tablets here but I'm wondering what sort of scanners you like as well, for scanning physical works? Are there any portable scanners you'd recommend in particular?
>>2642344
I use a scanner app on my phone.
Camscanner on my Ishit and google drive on android.
this ones really good for size. fits A4 paper. might be to small for someother people
I bought a Mustek large format scanner to scan a rare historic book, it stopped working after a week and they never responded to my emails so their "warranty" ran out. Kind of superficial but it also had the ugliest and most user-unfriendly software interface I'd ever seen in my goddamn life. I wish I knew of an alternative brand because I still want to scan that book but I'm not giving those Taiwanese mustard monkeys another dime.
any graffiti broskis up in here? insta: @vailone

childs play
do you have your pubes yet?
>also moi
You from finland? Also thats kinda toyish
I am fucking over graffiti writers complaining about street artists, honestly most of these dick heads can only paint straight, letters, throw ups and cartoon characters and could barely get any paid work even if they tried.
That is the real reason these dick head graffiti writers hate street artists so much.
Unless you can do some mad 3D style letters like sofles or totem or you are a pioneer like Dondi white I am not really impressed.
Fuck off with your straight letter pieces with basic fills and cartoon characters yiu didnt even design.

uh, thanks.
I feel like you weren't confident in sculpting heads so you just put a tree trunk there instead and came up with a story to justify it.
Don't do this, the only way you're ever going to get good at sculpting heads is to sculpt more heads and learning
Success isn't the opposite of failure it is the next step after it

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

does anyone know what program was used to make this image? or at least a similar program?
>>2642431
1. no, but googling "flowchart program" shows promising results
2. did this really need it's own thread
3. on /ic/, specifically
>>2642439
Don't worry, anon-kun. He made one on /adv/ too!
Hi /ic/,
First, last and only time here. I posted my shit in an "OC thread" but I realized it is for deviantartish stuff.
Sorry for not making a dank JOKE to break the ice because I dont understand your ultracool insidejokes.
I started creating things two months ago and I now give up because I have become bored.
So I will post about 5 images and then leave, they are truly yours, I couldnt care less about art anymore. It is yours, use it, copy me, ignore it, print it, burn it, it is now yours and you are free to even draw penises on it

How does one handle inking when working digitally? Inking was used back in the day to deal with pencil lines not showing up and was a bit of an art form in and of itself, but does it have a place when drawing digitally or is there a better, more productive and streamlined method to approach clean line art?
Also, if anyone knows any good books/videos to achieve decent line weights and more comic like shadows, I'd appreciate the recommendations.
>>2639892
Don't know much about digital inking, (I'm a traditional inker) but I came across this post from Krudman (fanboys comic) where he breaks it down into explainable steps. Hope it helps you out anon

This is actually a extremely unorthodox approach. Most artist have their most confident stroke going out from their body, not in ("pulling") as he suggests.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA edition
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
Old thread: >>2636570
How exactly does one find commissions or people willing to pay for an art piece both irl and online. But most specifically online.
>it's the commission thread again
Can we have a generalized way to disseminate this information
Market yourself in every possible avenue, post frequently, present your brand/style as clearly and concisely as possible with equally clear and concise pricing, be patient. Make friends with other artists who are better than you or have a bigger following, don't be an asshole, and when you do get commissions, do them quickly and treat your clients well. Try and make each commission better than the last.
Most of it is just common sense.
>>2639015
Well fuck buddy I've never seen a commision thread before. Perhaps you could direct me to the ic archives so I could look around

What does /ic/ think of DesignDoll? Personally i like it, its a very good and useful software.
With that said, the default model is shit and its overpriced really. Which is a shame since you can morph the model into your desired body type but you cant save and load it for later use, same with the poses you make.
Would still recommend it though, given youre using it for reference and not entirely depending on it
>>2638634
>not referencing from life instead
>not doing life studies and making observations
>using an algorithmic virtual program instead of observing the real thing
>not properly "breaking the rules"
Not. Gonna. Make it.
Ignore >>2638637 op
Design Doll and other like programs are fine for referencing from as they give you the freedom to create your own poses and give you a visualization of how they'd look in 3D space.
However, it's best to have a good idea of human anatomy and how to sculpt the body before going into using the program.
i.e. it's fine to use as a reference but not as a concrete reference. If you don't know the human body you should be drawing from life instead.
>>2638634
I use porn games. They're much better.
Hey peeps,
I'm a motion graphic artist and wanting to take my career to the next level and possibly generate income through bringing my art to life by 3d printing. I've been thinking for awhile about making 3d jewlerry/figures for people to wear or for home decor and was just wondering if anyone has experience from doing this and if it's possible to make a career out of it.
I've been modeling 3d for awhile now and was wandering if it's worth while opening a online store on artistic websites such as etsy and sell my creations? Also wandering if it is possible to print polished metal I want to work low budget so don't mind if it's silver or not I just want people to be able to afford my artwork but to also have the look of a almost mirrored silver.
Can anyone recommend me any good websites/companies that 3d print metals I'm also living in Australia at the moment if anyone knows of any companies in Australia that would be awesome aswell.
I have lots of ideas and would really like to turn my ideas into a possible future career
no one here has experience in anything
open up a store on etsy to sell your shit
>>>/3/
No. With a desktop tier FDM printer. All you can get are some plastic prototypes. You first need high 3d moddeling skills if you want to get something of high quality or design level stuff. Etsy is full of shit. You have a long way to go as a 'motion graphics artist. Learn tridimensional object design, Associate with a 3D artist, and a jewel maker, make some good quality wax prototypes (there are many wax 3D printers) or learn to cast jewel wax, know the processes and materials, before 3D printing anything. Fdm hobby 3D printing has to many limitations to be perceive as a final production stage of real products. Its just an intermediate step.
Pic related is a 2 hour design , 3d modelling and printing teat on a friends 3d printing. Had to print that shit 3 times and is in medium resolution . Took an extra 39 minutes, then sanding with 400 sand paper just to quick detail the 'edge' and yes its a shit design but it works for a first run. Also industrial design major.

I'm completely clueless when it comes to gesture drawing, can someone ELI5 how that works/how that translates into accurately drawing the figure? Do the C/S curves indicate where a muscle is pinched/stretched so you dont need to guess as much?
>>2637332
>/how that translates into accurately drawing the figure?
It doesn't.
>Do the C/S curves indicate where a muscle is pinched/stretched so you dont need to guess as much?
No.
it's just rhythm, that's literally all there is to it
>>2637334
in other words its useless to learn.
This shit confuses to me to know end. All I want to do is draw accurate people.
>>2637335
no it isn't useless, everything has a flow and rhythm and if you sketch that out first in its entirety its easier to elaborate on. If you can keep that flow/rhythm present while you make the drawing more detailed, then you're in the money.
Try doing gestures of simple objects first - jugs or bottles from life. This will help you build up to figure drawing gestures.
