Hello /ic/, I am trying to work on my dogshit handwriting and I was looking for any advice that you may be able to offer. I know it is best to have my pencil rest between my thumb and index knuckles, and I also know that I should write using wrist and shoulder rather than my fingers. So far I have encountered two main problems. The first and most significant is how to draw horizontal lines, should I use my shoulder to drag the pencil (which creates very poor looking lines) or should I 'squeeze' the pencil inwards? The second problem I have is how to write on a ring binder. I can't ignore this because the whole purpose of improving my handwriting is to take better notes, but when my hand comes into contact with the rings it messes with my hand's stability and posture. Any advice is appreciated.
Go to Briem dot net and download the handwritting repair book

Thank you, that's a good place to start.
Best to get a Sheaffer fountain pen and just write all your notes with it. Then when you use a good pencil, like Staedler or something.. You will gravitate toward cursive naturally.
wtf is wrong with this asshole edition
I've never had a tablet before and am still in training
What would you guys recommend to learn tablet drawing and drawing in general
Anyone know how I can disable the autoplay dialog from popping up every time I start my computer with the Huion 1060 plugged in? (It's asking what I want to do with the microSD card in there.) I know I can just take the card out but there must be some other way.
What do you guys think about the Wacom One?
The price and specs seem newbie friendly but i don't know if i should buy it when a Huion can offer me better specs for the same price.
anyone else draw creepy shit?
Good for you
I like to believe I have a bit of potential for creepy stuff. But I'm still /beg/ material.
Which MBTI type is best equipped for artistic gains?
>>2857022
A cat.
>>2857022
The greyhound is not a greyhound lol.
Raphael was outgoing and would party and let people watch him paint, and then Michelangelo was always pissed and had breakdowns and yelled at his statues. And Da Vinci was just fucking crazy. And there are people with those same personalities that can't draw shit. Do you really think personality has anything to do with artistic gains?
3 questions.
Who the fuck painted this?
Why does it exist in every other thread?
Is this some sort of hidden tree-house club thing that everyone knows but I don't? Own the fuck up.

It was painted by a student of Norman Rockwell named Ruan Mullins. His English was lacking so they say that they communicated visually instead of speaking to each other. That cup was a gift from Ruan Mullins to Norman after he trained under him for around 5 years. Basically when you have a mentor that's a master like Rockwell, you keep training under them until you can produce a piece that is comparable to the master, aka a "masterpiece." This was Ruan's first and only masterpiece and it's been making the rounds here at /ic/ lately.
I know I need to get the fundamentals, but do I really need a deep understanding of anatomy if I just wanna draw cartoons or webcomics for a living?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZOdOGu-Q60
>>2855458
so the gist of it is that I need to focus on animation-oriented life drawing, right? is there a book or class or repository that I can get some understanding of that?
>>2855470
Sorry for being so vague, but while the subject of the video was life drawing exclusively, I think the take-away is that you need to approach formal concepts like anatomy, figure drawing etc. with the understanding about what your medium of expression is and how it might differ from others like painting and illustration. If you want to be a good artist in general yes you're going to have to have a good understanding of anatomy and their proportions, but if you're more concerned with storytelling then you can be content with having shit fundamentals I guess. If that's the case go to >>>/lit/

I live in the South and I'm having a very hard time finding a college that allows you to major specifically in 2D, most of them actually badmouth the idea of being strictly a 2D animator. Like most things in a creative medium its a passion thing but do you guys think 2D animation is dying off for good? Am I killing my chances at a successful career pursuing it?
Also; I know how this board feels about going to college for art, which is that it isnt a good idea for the most part. But I want to get the college experience or environment I guess
2D animation is alive in TV but most artists do storyboards & such... animation is done by gooks overseas unfortunately. I'm still hoping it'll come back home cause there's plenty of artists here who want to learn inbetweening and the jobs would help a lot.
IMO if u wanna do it as a job it'll be like pixel art. Not many people buy that and it's very niche. But if you're good & make a name for yourself then it can work well

Anyone else realize the great potential of art pieces with armour? Now, we begin to imagine most paintings of armour being done by fantasy-enthusiasts as a simple 'neckbeard pastime', but looking further, you begin to find more depth to it.
As a challenge, could you paint a piece of armour with a romantic theme? Think about it, the armour itself is only the base, there are two other important factors to consider: the details in the armor itself, and the background. Nobility and royalty would often order beautifully crafted and ornamented armor. How would you ornament your own piece in your painting? What themes would it represent? How important would the lighting be in consideration of the painting's mood?
Just random thought I've been having, wondering if anyone else was intrigued.
