Do you use liquin when you paint with oils?
Is there a better alternative?
Do these sorts of substances affect how the painting will look years after it is painted? I've heard heard some mediums can develop a yellow tint over time.
I don't like the glossy finish. I use linseed oil, or lately walnut oil.
i have only paibted with oils once and i was wondering do you have to use the varnish always? i know it is only used after oils are completely dry. i kinda don't like the glossy effect it gives to painting, but my friend gave it to me and told me to apply it because it will preserve the painting longer. is it true? how do you guys use it?
I use gamblin's solvent free medium, mostly because I can't handle strong smells of other mediums, it also dries pretty fast. I've found that gamblin's stuff is almost odorless so I like it.

if you really like the painting or think its worth something yea. I dont varnish mine because I know I can improve and then will look back at these with disgust

there are different types of varnish. if you dont like the glossy look buy a matte varnish.

yep
>how do you guys use it?
you better watch a youtube tutorial about it, plenty of them.
