i draw, paint, comics sometimes, nothing fancy
Photoshop:
- heavy, no blending, can't flip canvas like sai, i can't just hold ctrl+z, have to press every time again; can't assign hotkey for each brush, need to save a brush if you change its settings else you lose it, can't make really hard brush, doesn't read .sai, doesn't preview .psd (inb4: don't name files like a retard)
+ each brush can be the eraser, tilt sensitivity, textured brushes, plugins
SAI:
- max brush size restricted to 500 px, no straight lines holding shift
+ luminance to transparency, nice blending, reads .psd
Clip Studio:
+ perspective grid!
- everything else
All critiques welcome as I'm trying to get better.
My name is [redacted] I work for Ididian Containment as a low level security officer. To pass the time I've been making these journals during shifts, little sketches of what I see here every night.
If you are reading this, something has happened to me...
And you are in grave danger.
Journal 5:
This one is a sweetie; despite is monstrous size (about 2 meters) Containment #58456 is really calm. So this thing is a vegetarian and usually just sits in a cornor most of the time during my shift. The company doesn’t even have him in the more high tech cells. Pretty dormant most of the time, I usually just feed him some cabbages from home.
No one knows how he’s floating though…
Eggheads upstairs said the found him in [redacted] just wandering the woods. Scarred a few campers, but the the SRC (Supernatural Response and Capture) were able to bring him in with very little hassle.
I think I’ll name this guy, Smiley.

The pose is a bit strange, it's not clear that it's a floating creature. It looks like it's either supporting itself with the huge arms or that the tiny legs are hidden behind his right arm.
Graf beginner using brush and acrylics. Looking for criticism.

The Glory of 40k
I'm not a fan of high contrast, but I like this particular piece.
Been Loomis'ing for 2 years now. My friends say I'm at pro level but I feel like I still have a lot to learn. Wanted to get some unfiltered feedback from /ic/

Salutations. Ive been attending Sanfransisco institute of art for the last semester and am trying to make it professionally within the next few years. This WIP is my final for the semester, what can I do do make it better? I have a week to finish it.

I'm sorry OP, this doesn't look good, I don't pull anything away from this, there's no perspective or dynamism that makes me question anything. How long have you been going to SFIA? If this is what you have to show for a final piece, you need to do some serious work and look at contemporary art and see what is dynamic, and you'll soon realize this isn't nearly good enough to make it in the next few years. I don't give you a real critique on this piece because there's nothing to say besides it isn't good, I'm sorry if that's not what you want to hear, but it's the honest truth, if you think you can make it in a few years.

huh, if you hadn't have found that we might have been on a long 200 plus post journey of shitposting and arguments. really makes you think.
So a bit of background about myself. I been drawing casually my whole life but during january of 2015 I decided to devote to life to art and I'm not exaggerated when I tell you i drew 12-16 hours a day. I drew day in and day out, studied my fundamentals, drew from imagination, drew boxes and all that important shit and I was under the delusion that if I could train hard as I could for 1 year I would reach the level of a certain person I aspired too.
One year later, and still wasn't a fraction of his skill level. It was like everything I did was a waste of time and it completely devastated me.
I haven't lifted a pencil since december 2015 and sometimes when I see this person's work I started hating myself again and asking myself if I trained harder and longer maybe I could have reached his level. But i probably have already lost a good chunk of my skill.
Inb4 post your work, i included an image of where my skill level was.
>Inb4 post your work, i included an image of where my skill level was.
That's not your work you fucking faggot.
fuck dude I wish I was that good. Really shouldnt compare yourself to others but whatever, I guess it's too late to tell you that.
What do you want me to say, get back in? You're too weak for this and you clearly dont have the passion for it.
Just a quick question guys, are these "digital paintings" real paintings or just a filter slapped on a picture? Because the artist do some good stuff like that but she also do... Well... This.

Let's just say the gap is a little too big.

Hello Bros,
I've been writing a story, and I have been looking for more people to critique it. I know it's not a visual medium, but I'm still looking to get feedback. I was wondering if this would be the place to ask for it, or /lit/. /lit/ seems more philosophical and about existing stuff, and mine is just a pet project. Let me know if I should go elsewhere.
Picture not related.
>>2856696
Literally just came here to ask the same question, so I'll bump this thread in search for an answer as well friend
hey i've been doing art all my life and i think this came out pretty well, i'd like to know your thoughts!
>>2856615
If troll, ok.
If ur serious, check this random image I found on google, and compare it to yours, see why you failed. Go to beginner thread, and keep trying for 3 years, u'll get gud eventually.
>>2856621
i am not trolling, i am serious about this. thanks for your input though.
honestly not awful, the proportions are alright but the poses are awkward and the lines are stiff. seems a bit like a high school student that was forced to do life drawings for art class and got a B- on it.
look up artists like glen vilppu and claire wendling to see how they draw nude figures and how it differs from yours.
so i want to start a web comic. i was hoping if any one here had advise on panel placement or how to get eyes on it once its done or just general tips about how to web comic.
>>2855437
If pic related is your work, I'd postpone it desu.
Maybe do comic strips, write your ideas down and in the meantime, learn your fundamentals.
It would be a shame to pair up lots of time and a good idea with shitty execution.
Mainly composition - both inside and outside the panels. Perspective, character and environment design, shape design, values... The more, the better. Read good comics and watch good movies and don't just consume them, analyze them - how does the director introduce me to the new scene? How did they make this character feel so intimidating, is it the camera movement? etc.
Check out Every frame a painting and Now you see it on yt, they'll teach you all the gimmicks of storytelling in movie (or comics).
>>2855444
yaeh it would be shame to wast a good idea on crap presentation. do you know of any you tube video tutorials about composition in comics? also yes my work, here is another..
Hi
I've been drawing for 4.5 years and I've put in my utmost effort on it despite not having the adequate age and circumstances.
Because short after I started I realized that art was going to be something much more meaningful than a hobby, I really wanted and still want to make this full time,
A few days ago I got featured on one of the sites I use and landed my first 2 major gigs, both are very NSFW and kind of daunting but they amount to 2.5 months of my current salary,
I do nudity but imho it's asesthetically tasteful or at least i try to make it that way, this is nothing I've done before and made me ponder the question of using or not my current handle.
I'm not famous by any means, I have around 3.7K followers on all my sties but I'm afraid doing these works with clear links to me can hurt my chances of making a carreer on art but at the same time not doing that can mean a lost opportunities.
fwiw i think using a different handle/blog would mean little to nothing here on 4chan despite not using a trip people still recognize my stuff.
Anyway, what would you do?

It is almost impossible to hurt yourself in the art world except with your ego. If you're good, you're good, so go for it.

Thank you

>It is almost impossible to hurt yourself in the art world except with your ego
This man speaks the truth.
Ego hurts business, when it comes to making money and taking commissions don't fall for the 'artistic integrity'
