So /g/, we are always getting more memory for storage and everything but
When are we gonna kill death in our storage media? Will we ever kill it?
Is M-Disc our last hope?

It is a physical problem.
You can do one of two things.
Make a new physical solution, which does not share this problem, or fix it with software.
We have a fix for this in software, but it usually require an expensive hardware setup as well.
Lets focus on a server: you run multiple harddrives add a ton of memory, and use zfs.
Then you adjust for drive failure and bitrot.
You also have to have a backup plan for that server if the content is important.
small devices, such as phones and laptops can send their data to that server, which will fix any bitrot, and if their drive fails, you have a copy of your data.
Desktops can also fill the need of the server if you are on a tight budget, or it could be an additional thing.

Have we reached a technological vacuum?
I cannot remember anything new in the last 5 years that benefited regular consumers in any significant way.
The regular costumers do not need the kind of production value being produced by technology today
It's not a vaccume, it's a raindrop.

Hardware: consumer 3D printer boom, new mid tier tesla knock offs making electric cars more affordable, drones, and Chromebooks (I think they're less than 5 years old)
Software: fuck it, is too easy to find... Even look at Google's quick results for answers. Everyone uses that.
I'm just going to sleep now, but you're wrong to believe new consumer products aren't grossly changing the market
>>56072415
I think the biggest thing is that smart phones are fast enough, though I guess the biggest new thing is consumer VR.
How does it feel that you will never be as good a programmer as Karlie Kloss?

Nice cherry pick
Karlie think the highest element in the array (10,10) is 5... teehee.

I get that you want a general to be edgy with all your 12 year old friends, but this is an 18+ website.
i had an ipad 2 a few years ago, it was pretty nice actually. the ios was very limited but everything just works as it should
i installed tongbu and downloaded all paid apps for free. it was ok
do you have that much of a hate boner for apple that you think it justifies an entire thread?

Hey /g/, I'm a beginner in C and I made a one-time pad encryption program and I wanna see if you can break it
LWe..N1..j3laIg?zU*QK.s!B05BbV4r?0F5n~}=y#@
I'll also post the source code, tell me if you see any problems, besides the fact it generates pseudo-random numbers
#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <time.h>
main()
{
srand((unsigned) time(NULL));
char bstr[256];
printf("Message to XOR encrypt: ");
fgets(bstr, 256, stdin);
int i;
int key[sizeof(bstr)];
for(i = 0; i < strlen(bstr); i++)
{
key[i] = (rand() % 100);
bstr[i] = bstr[i] ^ key[i];
if(!isprint(bstr[i])) {bstr[i] = '.';}
}
printf("\n%s\n",bstr);
}

The US government doesn't give it a big budget since it doesn't see a reason to. The Space Race isn't a thing anymore, and NACA doesn't need a big budget (or that's at least what the government thinks).
"Why should we be spending money on space? There are other things we need to take care of, such as our countrymen and that war that's happening in a 3rd world shithole, they need us".

Someone offered to hire me to come to their house and set up some computer stuff for them. They want to transfer to a new PC and set the new one up, presumably including software, AV, updates etc.
I've never done this for money before and am not sure what to charge.

>There isn't a single good browser
Currently on Chromium but it's RAM hogging a bit. Why can't there be just one good browser?
Tempted to hop on to Opera but are there any /g/-approved lightweight browsers?
Unused RAM is wasted RAM
Also just want to add that I've been on Chromium for 2-ish years and I've been spoiled by uBlock Origin.
How's the adblocking on Opera or other browsers?
>tfw Opera died three years ago
Where my Opera bros at (not you Chropera niggers)
So /g/...would you put your brain...in a robot body?
only if it was a robot shark.
>>56072017
why wouldn't you? your body is a weakness. It has to sleep. It has to eat. It needs rest and time to repair. The sooner you can shed this block of carbon for a machine the better.

I'm looking for programming enthusiasts to help me create a programme much more powerful than LOIC, it is for security purposes mainly. if this works out then I have big plans for whoever helps out that could possibly make you rich. Email me at [email protected] with a .txt containing any programming skills you have.
Looking forward to this project and looking forward to making programming history.
