Need your wizard wisdom /g/.

Recently bought myself Samsung USB 3.0 Flash Drive DUO 64GB, main purpose is to collect all my vidya to emulate and play on the tablet during long trips.
One end regular USB the other micro USB for connecting with smartphones, tablets and the likes.

Now, regular USB works ok however when I connect to my android tablet via micro USB, it gets rather hot pretty fast, even if I am not doing anything.
Does android rape USB drives via constant read write or something?
I tried to search for this behaviour but cant find anything.

I just use my personal domain for this.
I made a simple php script that updates the bind9 configuration with new ip address of the caller when you pass the correct password in parameters. then use cronjob on my local machine with dynamic machine to curl the php page every 30 minutes to update the ip.

Why is technology so bad /g/?

Everything is made in China now, and it shows.

I have never had a laptop that has lasted more than four years. Dell, Asus, IBM, Apple: it doesn't matter. Something critical always falls apart just sitting on my desk.

Now my iPhone 5, the very first smartphone I decided to buy, has its screen literally bulging out because the battery packet beneath it is most likely filling with gas. Despite being a clear design flaw I doubt it will be covered by warranty.

Do I just have to accept that no matter what I buy, it will die in five years time, no matter how well I take care of it? I would gladly pay a premium for something Western-made without planned obsolescence.

So I have an old ass iPhone, the 4s. And the button on the top right which is used for a bunch of shit, most importantly turning on/off the fucking phone is broken. No matter how hard I try to to press the damn thing, it doesn't register.

Is there anything I can do to somehow reroute the turning on/off of the device to the home button? Because currently, if my phone runs out of battery or turns off for any reason, I won't be able to turn it back on.

I also can't manually lock my phone or take screenshots without this button,

Assistive touch as a work around or put some paper between the button and actual button idk what they're called (you'll have to try and fiddle a lot) and it should work.

1. What is the best sort of dial-up modem available?
Last I used one it was 56k, but since I moved on from that shit years ago maybe there's something better now, I don't know....

2. Assuming I have a hard line phone connection in my house can I even still use dial up? In that past AOL provided this connection service for me, do any companies still do this?

3. Would websites I visited know about my slow connection and direct me towards a simpler alternative instead? If so how would their server know what my specs are in this speculative scenario?

How's Midori browser? If it's shit what's the best light weight browser that actually has a GUI?

Is there a lightweight browser with vimperator-like bindings and power user options, ad blocker, Rikaisama-like thingy and support for userscripts?
If there is, I might be able to move from Firefox.
Hell, I might even be able to live without Rikaisama, even if it will be hard.

Just thought I'd warn everybody.
If you have GDIPP installed to improve Windows font rendering, it breaks the latest Windows 10 update.
When you log in, all you will see is a black screen with your cursor visible.
You need to open task manager, kill any GDIPP-related tasks, then kill Windows Logon Application to be kicked back to login screen.
Log back in and uninstall GDIPP. (your desktop should start working)

This is a language without imagination or elegance.

It's the perfect programming language to use drunk. It's so hard to do something truly stupid, but it's also so hard to do something truly beautiful. It's only fun when you're drunk.

I'd really appreciate it if somebody would show me I'm wrong about this. Otherwise... It's really boring.

Hey /g/ I have something I need help with.
Im trying to use my Iphone as microphone for my computer.

I need to record live audio with it. I cant really have more than a second of delay either.

All I can find from a quick pleb google search is some BS and some shit that costs money.
I trust you guys before I trust random internet articles telling me to shell out some dollars for an app with bad reviews.

Wireless preferred but wired is fine if I can just plug it in normally with the standard charge/connection usb cable

So, I just got my dick wet into programming after working for a web hosting company. And I decided to start with GoLang, because 2 of my friends that work with me are rewriting all of or internal tools to work with GoLang.

Is this a bad idea starting to learn how to code with GoLang?

Do any of you have credible resources of self teaching?

Thanks in advance.

In addition to what the anon above said I always recommend looking for koans on whatever language you want to learn
>>
GoLang is a good place to start, anon. It's got the simplicity of Python, Perl, et al. but the power of C and C++.

I'm working on learning it myself and I have to admit that I'm having some fun.

The sources I'm currently using are:
https://gobyexample.com
http://openmymind.net/The-Little-Go-Book
https://golang.org/doc/effective_go.html

and obviously lots of Google.

Hi /g/. I know you are not tech support and there is a thread for simple questions. But this is not a simple question and Google does not yield helpful solutions.

I built a computer. I installed Ubuntu and recently it is acting weird. Chrome switches tabs and scrolls on its own. I have a Bluetooth keyboard and a wireless USB mouse that are both brand new. So I think it is unlikely they malfunction.

Do I have to suspect remote access Trojan? If so, how could it be installed from the first place?

I do have someone who hates me and he knows a lot about tech.

>>
>>56072610
Oh and the keyboard shortcut to switch tabs on Chrome is Ctrl+tab. I think it is unlikely that two keys malfunctions at the same time on a brand new keyboard.
>>
Trojan is unlikely af
Check if the correct Keyboard Layout is set and if it also behaves weirdly with other Devices
>>
>>56072610
Check if you don't have another keyboard sitting somewhere with shit on it that would press keys. Or maybe someone is fucking with you.

I'm learning programming for already one year, specifically C language(but language is less important now, I would frustrated in any other programming language too). I did book exercises, could use formulas to calculate things, could write very primitive program, for short typical tasks that many beginners can do.(Well I'm also beginner), but a few days ago I found "project euler" and "codechef" but was stuck even understanding what the exercise was about(don't mean that exercises are hard). I was stuck even to calculate gcd of a number or write program to calculate even fibonacci numbers. and I really feel very frustrated now. I won't say that I'm not "mathematical-type minded", I'm good at math, even good at calculus at university, I know what fibonacci numbers are, but I couldn't do it with the code, or write the code.

I'm very eager to learn programming,I was dreaming about being a good programmer since I was 15. I know Computer Hardware,a bit Computer Science, love physics and electronics, have some future ideas. Even now I have a great motivation to sit and continue learning but frustration gives me a very bad vision of future. If I can't write such easy code to calculate fucking gcd, how I'm going to be a good programmer.

I don't even know when to call myself a programmer and more importantly a good programmer, 2 years ? 5 years ? 10 years ?

What can you tell me folks ? What was your experience as a beginner, can you write mentioned programs easily without thinking a lot ?

TL;DR I'm very frustrated that I couldn't write very easy program, and think that I won't be a good programmer in the future because of that.

I had a professor who put it to us plainly. You must learn algorithms. You will not be good at it when you start, but it is a struggle you must endure.

tl;dr Get an algorithms book. Struggle. Success.
>>
>>56072556

learning algorithms is necessary for more complicated things I think.

>Struggle. Success.

Yes, but learning without result is very annoying and frustrating.
>>
>>56072518
Are you in university OP? See if your uni offers an "Algorithms and Data Structures" class.

Learn about recursion, time and space complexity, and different types of data structures and how to implement them.

Good luck Opie.
