They actually won, didn't they?
File sharing is now scattered, marginal, clandestine and only found in very specific ways.
Emule is gone. Rapidshare is gone. MegaUpload is gone. Torrent sites are being taken down one by one or simply becoming useless as unpopular files never get seeded.
We can't even point which blow of these is the worst one. Emule was great for very specific files. You could find roms, music, porn, cracks, .rars of all sorts. I'd literally share my download folder in it and was almost granted to be able to download what I wanted.
Want to find old software? Gone. Want to find a driver to an old device you wish to re-purpose? You may even know where to find it, but it's gone, it was a rapidshare link.
Want to download rare books? Good luck finding a site that has it. Also good luck entering a private tracker, good luck scourging google looking for scraps of what wasn't removed. Good luck waiting for the queue on soulseek.
They have impaired file sharing to this point. It's now easier to find where you should look for drugs on a new city than looking for files on the internet.
thanks for correcting the record
Hurry and fill your hard drives before the November Surprise in the private tracker world. Shit is about to hit the fan.

>megaupload is gone
2017.
Why did IBM abandon Cell? It was way ahead of its time. I mean the year is 2004 or 2005 and game developers were still very stranger to multicore programming concepts. And it had a pretty strong 8 cores that were able to consume looots of data in a cycle. Pretty different architecture, designed for solely multithreading purposes. All the developers did was just whining about how hard it was etc.
They were still planning for a second revision Cell but for some reason they abandoned it.
Now you see PS4 hardware quickly became deprecated in one year due to bloated x86 shit. Nothing special anymore, no flexibility.
>>56079604
Cell was shit when it was new, and it's still shit today
>>56079604
Because x86 is cheaper now
>>56080102
cell was powerful at its time. it had an original concept that mainly focused on huge data processing.
Trackball Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo
I liek trackballs
>>56078784
i bought this thing and i love it, it is a Kensington Trackball with a Scroll Ring,
>>56081062
Sweet collection bruh.
I have an m570 and a MS trackball optical. Bought it at a thrift store with no ball, managed to find a ball on ebay. It is the best one I've used. It works but its pretty rough, lubing the ball and bearings did nothing. I think I might need to put slightly bigger bearings in it.

0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Anyone know a good VPN that will actually work in China?
I miss shitty apps guy.
>try to upgrade Gentoo all day
>still havent
You have 10 seconds to explain why you're not using Mozilla Firefox for Android that allows Browser extensions and why you're using that shitty browser called "Google Chrome" that doesn't allow you to add browser extensions
>Firefox for Android can have adblock
>Google Chrome can't
There's no excuse, Anon.
>>56078297
But I use it.
It's a laggy janky piece of shit made by SJWs. Installed it on my girlfriend's phone and she hated the choppy scrolling; for comparison Samsung Internet worked fine.
>>56078297
>You have 10 seconds to explain why you're not using Mozilla Firefox for Android
i have an iphone 5
what were the most powerful home computers then?
https://m.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/1wnp0y/an_ultimate_gaming_pc_from_1998/
I remember the PII 350 I had. Played Unreal 1 and then got my first GPU (a Voodoo Rush) to accelerate it with.
>>56077761
64-bit 450MHz POWER3 CPU's where the most powerful ones then.
Fuck off with your x86 bullshit.
everything, from the design to functionality has gone to shit. Is it truly Jobs death or is Johnny Ive jus burnt out and passé?
t. macfag, seriously.
they figured they can sell crap either way.
>is Johnny Ive jus burnt out and passé
he has probably run out of stuff to copy
>>56077760
this
Is /g/ capable of explaining why they dislike Edward Snowden without bringing up political affiliation, race, religion, or the word "cuck"?
>>56077424
If he was married, he would watch Tyrone do it with his wife.
>>56077424
Who said we dislike him?
>>56077445
>If he was married, he would watch Tyrone do it with his wife.
What did he mean by this?
>pay 64 usd for 50mbps
>only get 10/1 on a good day
>only isp in my area
why is life so suffering?
>pay 7 euros for 100mbps
>get 10/10 on every day with no data caps
I love this continent :^)
>>56077313
switch plans and save money.
>>56077313
Jews have made laws to ensure new ISPs that could threaten a monopoly an ISP has on a certain area will never happen.
This question is for Linux/BSD users. Whisch distro are you using on your PC?
>>56077132
Ubuntu LTS with Xfce desktop environment
GIMP
stopped there lol
>>56077132
I use Linux Mint 18 and I want to say a bit about Linux Alternatives. I think the only Blender and Lightworks(maybe GIMP ? but I hate its interface) are worthwhile to use as alternatives, rest are shit compared to native windows apps. Besides they aren't industrial standards and nobody knows about it.
I love restoring old hardware, don't you?
>>56077096
So do I, but I suppose I really ought to pace myself. Currently working on these three plus maxing out a Thinkpad T43
>>56077096
>>56077096
That's one hell of a pretty looking phone.
Which Desktop Environment are you using? And why?
xfce
easy peasy lemon squeezy
Unity. Does what I want with the limited amount of customization you can do and just werks™.
xfce because it's light and Linux will always look ugly anyway
What went wrong?
Mismanagement of money. If I was them I would open a subsidiary and sell normie shit with emphasis on design rather than specs
Nothing really, except in Yurop... shit's overpriced
>>56075997
Sells out too fast. Not enough supply
Why GPU decoding doesn't work with MPV?
It works fine with MPC-HC and VLC.
