Why does /g/ hate Java?
Because le ebil Pajeets xD
pajeet poopies use poopy java. poopy pajeets will never know how to fizzbuzz in non poopy language (c) like me
>>56085047
because it is not 1337 haxx like C/C++
if you have a small team or alone and you want to develop anything other than a AAA video game, then Java is good.
Will our hero ever win his battle?
>>56084922
Not in his lifetime
It's up to us to continue his legacy
no, and neither will amd
in the future, computers will be "specialized hardware" sold only to the enterprise and will still be more locked down than the average system we have today
>mfw gaming saves the PC market
>C++
Complex as fuck, takes an eternity to write simple concepts, not standardized at all, all libraries are mess
>C
Same as above but with less features and even more verbose
>Fortran
Although it's fast it's a dead language with no community besides some crazy scientists who now prefer R or Python
>Python
Slow as FUCK, shitty libraries for webdev, not portable, but it's very hackable and nice to write. Basically a hobbyist language with no real use in the real world
>R
DSL for statistics nerds and wannabe Physics, slow as fuck too
>C#
Micropajeet language with nice features but still slow and all over the place. It's a mess if you want to use third party libraries, distribute your code or make it cross-platform. Has been making good progress on these problems but still shit
>Java
The only language that I would rather eat my own shit than work with it for a living.
>Haskell
Theoretical useless piece of garbage used as a masturbating mechanism for wannabe mathematicians and mathematicians. Slow and void of productive use in the real world.
>Go
Nice syntax language that is famous only for being developed at Google. (If that's any good). Under the hood the language is a cesspool of bad code. It's still unusable in production. I'm sceptical that it can survive another 5 years if it doesn't get proper effort.
>Rust
Hipster language that has some nice feature but it's a dead language from the get go. There's literally no reason for this to exist when all it wants to achieve is syntactical sugar over already existing features.
>Ruby
Nice toy language that has gone too far
>C
>verbose
>Go
>Under the hood the language is a cesspool of bad code. It's still unusable in production
How so?
>>56084720
what are some good coding languages you enjoy? faggot
The /guts/ thread got bumped off the map before I could post.
Assuming the rear fan blows out, and the two bottom fans blow in, how terrible is this Mini ITX case layout?
Terrible.
75% of your intake fans are completely blocked off by the GPU, your PSU is exhausting at the front, and you will have more negative pressure than positive.
>>56084927
>75% of your intake fans are completely blocked off by the GPU
And if, for example, I ran a 1080 Strix Gaymer without the fans/ shroud, and the two intakes plugged into the card, would it still be terrible? I haven't yet draw anything that would isolate the PSU from the rest of the components/ airflow, but I considered having it draw air from a narrow channel at the front, and vent it out through discrete slits at the top.
No matter which way I orient it, though, PSU placement sucks. Can you suggest a method that doesn't significantly add to the dimensions of the case? If not, ducting might be my only solution.
>>56084994
>draw
gg
To add to this, I've been trying to design a small form factor case for the past few weeks, and keep getting cockblocked by some issue or other. You occasionally see people remove their PSU casing and fan, and have case air blow over it. Haven't found a visual guide for that yet, and I don't want to electrocute myself.

I'm thinking of installing Arch Linux, is it true that it breaks a lot?
Just do Gentoo, portage is better than pacman
>>56084505
arch has been more stable for me than anything else has, even while subjected to a lot more fuckery than the rest.
ubuntu even breaks itself all the fucking time. One time I literally did a clean install, booted it, shut it down (cleanly), then turned it on again and it was borked. After every fucking upgrade it spams "unknown system error" too. fucking meme distro
If you want to do a vacation trip to Rio de Janeiro and want to protect your smartphone and also need communication.
Will you pay for a pager service?
Nobody want to steal that old devices!
Just buy a burner phone you idiot.
>>56084564
A pager is an alternative! :)
>>56084671
A shittier alternative. Similar to how carrying around tin cans and a string is "an alternative"
Is it worth it?
Holy fuck, bidding on this shit now.
Yes
>>56084410
Thanks for the tip, I'll pop in my bid!
serious discussion
would this man be for or against the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack ?
>>56084401
For, because it is admittedly a flawed technology. Jobs would have a agreeable replacement, though, as opposed to just falling back on bluetooth/requiring adapters for the existing port. If I knew what his replacement would've been, then I wouldn't be a neet, so don't ask.
>>56084429
it would probably be a new standard that sets the bar
instead of just removing it and replacing it with NOTHING
I miss that fuker
>>56084401
He would, no doubt about it.
For the same reasons. Allegedly for more thinness and progress, in reality to make his prey customers buy branded accessories that bring apple tax home unlike your standard Sennheiser/Audio Technica/etc headphones.
Need help before my computer blows up or something.
>Smell something burning from the other room
>Go in my room, the smell is strong
>Smell is coming from my computer
>Fans are loudest they've ever been
>"Oh shit my PC is overheating"
>I check my thermometers through speccy
>None of them are hot
What does this mean?
Ignore it
PSU is oberheating. Replace it.
>>56084963
Frustrating because I have a fairly new PSU that's pretty overkill (Corsair 700 something W's)
I had it running for a bit, when to get a drink, and when I came back it was shut off. Now I can't turn it on. It's not perm dead or anything right?
Got this email, looked at original message and it does appear to actually be from EA.
Why do they say their emails won't contain clickable links but then have a clickable link?
BTW this is for an account I don't use that never had any payment info entered for it so I'm not really worried.
>@e.ea.com
>>56084393
Having looked it up online I see it is a phishing attempt, but how do they get a subdomain at ea.com?
I got one from Rockstar the other day and the link in that email goes to socialclub.rockstargames.com is that one illegitimate as well?
You can spoof sent-from addresses
I can send you an e-mail from [email protected] if I wanted to
Of course, if you replied I wouldn't be able to see it though.
Still great for phishing
I could get two subwoofers and an amp for my car for the price of the cheapest i3 on the market and an Intel mobo.
>>56084183
Yeah but you'll regret not going with the PC as soon as you graduate high school.
>>56084640
What's that?
I am tired of stuff always breaking on Arch, so i am comteplating wether to switch to Ubuntu or not, pls convince me not to switch
i just upgraded from 14.04 to 16 ubuntu and it broke, in two years of use prior to that I had never broken anything.
That's the problem with rolling release, most often than not you're just getting buggy intermediary releases.
