Were these the ultimate laptop CPU?
>barely any power consumption
>low tdp, won't throttle even without a heatsink
>easily capable of performing regular tasks like web browsing and office
>inexpensive

>discontinued
Those look like condoms
The 22nm celeron in my laptop can't even handle these tasks i can't imagine how an atom would handle it
>tfw you know you'll never destroy an android using a paradoxical statement because anyone competent enough to program an android would know to handle those exceptions
>>56083873
Exceptions apply also on exceptions to exception's exceptions?
>>56084745
Yes
>tfw you might because you know esoteric paradoxes the average android programmer would not
The picture I uploaded is my current phone.
I am looking to upgrade to a smart phone. I will be waiting until black friday to buy my new phone. My budget is $650. I do not want any apple or windows products. Apple is overpriced and windows does not respect my privacy or right to consent.
what would /g/ recommend. I would prefer for the phone to have a finger print scanner and be waterproof but those are not required.
>>56083613
anything android does not respect your privacy, be it samsung or nexus or LG
Apple is overpriced and shittier with every release, but that's probably the best you'll get in terms of privacy. That's not to imply it isn't riddled with flaws and non-botnet, it's just as far as you'll get.
>Waiting for black friday
GOTTA GET THAT $5 OFF
>>56083820
it's closer to $120 on black friday. Seems worth it to wait.
>he spent more than $60 on a laptop
Yeah I did. Your point?
>>56083543
Bet you're gonna wish you spent $600 when that $60 chinkshit blows up in your face
>>56083543
Mine was $1200. 17 inches of pure perfection. Do you know what else a have? A job.
:^)
What would your perfect cellphone look like?
>5.2-inch perfectly sized AMOLED screen
>absolutely minimal bezels
>no navigation buttons at all - all swipe OS
>1080p is comfy enough, and doesn't eat as much battery
>3GB of RAM
>4000mAh to make it last, but also not to make it too heavy or thick - replaceable
>21MP camera, something from based Sony
>latest Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance
>soft rubber backing for better grip and no smudges - variation of colors available, so I can change them out as a feel
>slightly rounded edges for comfy finger movement when swiping from the sides
>no front facing camera, because not a homosexual or a teenager
>no logo at the front - pure blackness
>wireless charging
>NFC
>dedicated camera button
>headphone jack (fuck you, Apple - what the FUCK!)
>USB 3 connector
>dedicated facebook button... lel :^)
Ok, that last one is a joke.
I am willing to pay up to $650 cash for this bad boy (I am gainfully employed).
Your turn.
The Apple iPhone(R) 6S with Retina Display(R)
>>56083481
you forgot
>modular
basically a Nexus 5X with smaller bezels so that it's the size of a Nexus 5, and with the Sailfish's internals, and no logos at all, and a 3500-4000 mAh battery.
done
What's the best USB floppy disk drive? I've got some old files I want to transfer.
There is no "best"
You get whatever the fuck one you can find in a box in your basement or at some garage sale, or you buy the cheapest one you can find online.
They all work fine and they're all worthless
>>56083379
It's all the same chink shit. Good luck getting more than half of your 3.25" floppies to read OP.
>>56083379
You are in for some disappointment.
The last time I tried to get shit off my old floppies was 2 years ago and they didn't age well.
Why are 3½ inches called floppies anyway? Their shell is rigid.

Yes, we know everything already is from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.

Hey /g/
Can you suggest a laptop for me? I'm beginning an M.S. in Applied Statistics in the fall. Current machine is a 2009 MBP but the battery is shot and I'd like to get some more under the hood. Basically looking for something that would be able to easily handle intense mathematical computing and some programming (R, SAS, Python, possibly others). Might also be playing some games on it but that is definitely not the priority, nor is it close to important. Budget max would be $1500 ish but I'd like to keep it as much under $1200 as I can, if possible. Needs to be a laptop for portability, at least 15" screen.
Thanks!
>>56083228
You only need to spend $300 max on a thinkpad, then you've got $1200+ to spend on hookers and blow.
>>56083228
get an IPS screen whatever you do. And it sounds like you could use an i7 with at least 8gb+ of ram.
Stupid Questions Thread
Why niggers are black?
The first time I used Tor I felt like I was part of a secret club and it felt so edgy.
I don't feel edgy anymore
What software do I use to feel edgy again?

Anyone ever make any money buying old computers and refurbishing them, and reselling for profit?
i.e. Buying a Macbook Pro with a broken screen, replacing the screen yourself, upgrading to SSD, and reselling for a profit?
How stupid of a way of making money on the side is this?
>>56082947
Usually not worth it since the screen will probably cost you more than the computer itself. If it's an easy fix and you can already diagnose a solution before buying the item, then go ahead.
ultrabooks, tablets, and phones have gotten very difficult to work on at home in the last few years.
>inb4 b-but i replaced muh ipad screen that one time
>>56082947
I do, because I work at a computer shop where I can sell the machines to stupid people for 50% more than they'd pay on eBay/Craigslist.

Don't be a faggot and at least wait for the bump limit. Doing it before the bump limit just creates an incentive to make a new thread earlier and earlier if you are competing with someone who cares.

Nice.
What does /g/ think of the new Razer Blade? I travel 2 weeks a month for work and need a laptop that can handle current games on good settings while I'm gone. Already have a nice desktop at home so this isn't going to be my sole computer. Budget is $2,000
