So we have Pokemon Go, it's augmented reality to a point, but then I realized, this game is dumb, but it is fun. There's no real challenge to this.
Now wait a moment, I'm not here for a /v/ post I'm proving a point and I need /g/'s specific help on this.
So I thought to myself, Yugioh as a whole, has WAY more potential. But I realized that a real duel disk would be pretty damn expensive. What could we do to make this either easier, or something else? How hard would it be to make holograms, or even as similar as google glass (see Zexal) to make this work?
How expensive and who do you think as a company would do the best at it?
Well fuck you too /g/ ;_;

What's a good, quick way to get airtight privacy and security on a Windows 10 computer?
Can I just run TOR in a Linux sandbox?
I have a harmless prank in mind, but unfortunately it's the sort of harmless prank that would have a fair number of tech-savvy people wanting to sue me.

Neat, hopefully I have a spare USB around somewhere.
>>56387866
You can run it on a virtual machine, but it's not as safe.
Most likely fine for a prank though.

Remember Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos, Infoseek, WebCrawler, AskJeeves ... ?
Then Google.com came.
So tell me, how often do you ever use AskJeeves today?
It's like this now. We have all these OSes, OSX, Windows 7, Windows 10, GNU/LINUX, 1000 ditributions of GNU/Linux, Android, .... and it's a mess.
The proof that it's a mess is that you constantly makes threads about which OS you should install...
It's like in the old days when we had AltaVista and AskJeeves.
Now Fuchsia OS comes. Google makes an OS. From scratch. No more legacy, outdated GNU code. This is code written with "2016" in mind. Devices and PCs are so fast today that programmers agree we would all benefit if an OS was written from scratch with the power of today's machines in mind.
GNU/Windows/... the base code for these was written when the most powerful PC was multitudes slower than an average "chink shit" smart phone today.
So Google realized they have to write something from scratch.
This is like Google.com all over again
In 5 years, you'll all be usuing Fuchsia OS and we will be making threads like "dude remember "GNU" ? Hahahhah install Gentoo!! remember Getnoo?? LOLL... and remember you had to use Microsoft Windows for games? bahahahah"
Oh, we will have a laugh.

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Without nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=10 it takes a long time for my media to boot up and mount the usb hard drive.
However, mpd fails to autostart if the fstab for the drive contains those parameters.
How do I fix this? Can I make mpd depend on the drive mounted?
Are Sony smartphones any good or bad?
I havent bought a smartphone since Galaxy S3 and it died today so I am looking to buy a new phone and the Xperia XZ Compact caught my eye. It looks a bit similar yet chunky and good to hold kind of thing.
I really have no idea what I'm doing though, is there a buyers guide to smartphones in 2016 somewhere?
I have a 2 yr old Z3C, works well but starting to get the Androidâ„¢ lag.
But still does everything I need but I'm looking at getting a Xperia X Performance or XZ early nect year.
Got a Z3.
LCD is fantastic.
Speakers are weak, mic gain is weak.
DAC is great.
Camera is OK.
Front facing camera is ass.
Performance is good.
Looks sexy.
Well that sounds okay I guess, I like the compacts form factor and that it will be relatively cheaper. I guess I'll just do some research, nothing I've seen looks like the compact though, the design is something I really want. Thanks
>"Samsung batteries exploding ... phones catching fire"
What did they mean by this?
Will they ever recover from this?
Follow/copy Apple, get same problems as Apple. Makes sense.
I suspect it's the change to USB type-C.

If Chromium is open source, and Firefox is open source, why doesn't someone just take the source code from both, mix them together and give us the best of both worlds.
The customizability of Firefox with the speed of Chrome.
>>56387200
Why don't you do it yourself?
>>56387200
We already have some browsers that are closed uncustomizable botnet, slow as firefox with default settings and 100 addons, and they eat RAM like there's no tomorrow.
Maybe sombody tried already but it didn't go well?
Would take so much time for a single person to do that it's probably more time efficient to just create a new browser from scratch.
Redpill me on flatpacks /g/.
Is it the new era of bundled .exe* in linux? Will it kill the distro war once and for all?

>>56387062
Do whatever you want, I'll still compile all my shit.
Yes. Just like snibeti snaps or docker.
What's the best way to get images onto my pc from my phone /g/ ?
I fucking hate having to drag and drop over USB because my phone seems to think it should save photos in random locations. Google photos is all that has worked so far but I'm trying to move away from it. I don't like Dropbox either. I'd rather just locally save pictures on my phone and they're sent directly to my pc
There is literally no difference.

Even though Samshit deserves this. At least they have the decency to make these steps. Unlike Applel where my touch disease issue has been completely ignored by customer service. Ill prolly just get a oneplus or some shit

What moments have you had where you decided to stop helping someone and let them wade in their own retardation?
I helped two separate people pick parts for their PCs based on their budget a few years ago. I'd just quickly chuck something together, take into consideration whatever specific needs they had for performance and pick a sensible case to put it in. However, both of them decided to change from whatever case I had chosen to pic related. Now, to be fair, the first one I helped who did this was a teenager still in highschool, so that was on the some level understandable. However, the second guy was in his fucking 30s. How does a grown ass man choose something so blatantly tasteless and cheap looking? This guy also couldn't grasp the concept of SSDs and changed the 128GB ssd + 1TB Black combo to a 3TB Green Drive I think it was. I just told him I was busy after that.
Sister asked me to fix her internet. Adapter needed to be reset. Tried getting her to do what I said for over an hour on the phone before I said "you clearly know more than me so you can manage it."
>What moments have you had where you decided to stop helping someone and let them wade in their own retardation?
All of them.
For the past 5 years I've just pretended not to know how to use/fix computers. Feels great saying "I have no idea" so I can get on with something fun.
>>56386867
This anon gets it.
Fuck I am so sick and tired of the constant tech support to friends and family. One faggot came up with 2 AV and had to explain the situation and yet still denies that AV slowed his PC. Next faggot came with expired office.
Now I simply say "Uhh I use Linux these days so idk Windows much."
If I want to learn to program(for the sake of learning to hack websites and computers themselves) what programming language should I start off with? I know just a little bit HTML. Would python be a good programming language to start off with? Or should I learn javascript first?
no you must learn my squirrel first

haskell
>>56386859
errrr is that a euphemism for something? Last time someone made me learn about their squirrel I ended up with a sore ass and salt liquid in my mouth. I guess that is why I wake up screaming in the middle of the night to find I urinated all over my bed.
