Not complaining since I got it for $20, but my Seagates shit on it.

Nothing is noisy about it. You simply must have a faulty one, friend!

When will the megapixel meme die?
I'm so sick of seeing, especially here on 4chan,
pictures of 3mb and 3000x4000 resolution.
Fucking triggers me.
Megapixels is one of the biggest hoaxes in technology.
>>56393583
When will autism die?
I agree. Would rather have a one megapixel camera but with amazing sensor and aperture than fifty megapixel garbage
>>56393583
Yeah, like, why does anyone care about Image Resolution anyway? When was the last time you even viewed an image in full size? I haven't opened an image file in years! Thumbnails are good enough. They give me the idea and thats all I need.
What's your opinion on password policies /g/
> Must be 7 characters long
> Must contain 1 upper case letter
> Must contain 1 number or symbol
> Cannot reuse previous X passwords
We have a secret policy at our office, over 12 chars it does not expire.
Nobody has found it yet
>>56394004
Make it 20 and it's perfection
For pages I rarely visit, I generate a random password. Next time I visit, I request to reset password.

facebook is not responsible, it's your browser
Now, let me preface this entire thread with the acknowledgement that I'm don't know about computer, so I apologize in advance for wrong terminology.
My laptop is stupid. It has 16 gig of RAM in it, and it has a retarded charger to match. 20 volts, something like 6.9 amps. One day, it broke, and like a fool I bought a Belkin Universal, pic related, to replace it without realizing it's of a lesser output. Because it's not strong enough to power it properly, what happens is the performance of the machine goes to shit and the brightness tanks itself to the very bottom in order to charge my machine while in use. This has been an accepted part of my life for a long while now; my laptop is just fucking shit when it's plugged in, and I have to use it in 18-minute bursts because the battery doesn't last any longer than that, even at 100%.
I wake up today, realize it's been unplugged from my shitty low-energy cord and remedy this. It's at 7% when I turn it on, and I notice something.
My laptop isn't a piece of shit while it's plugged in anymore. The screen is bright and it's as fast as how it used to be. For reference, there was a significant delay when typing anything and often captchas would unverify themselves in the interim of solving it, clicking post and the message actually sending. That's how bad my machine is when it was plugged in. And now it's responsive and chirpy again, for seemingly no reason. I'm terrified to unplug it or restart it, of course, on the chance that my luck will run out, but otherwise I'm fucking ecstatic at this. And there's no explanation for why this could've happened online.
Does anyone have any similar stories about technology just being fucking sorcery and doing things that should be impossible?
And possibly an explanation for my own phenomenon?
Magic
What do you do with the extra CD drive bays in your case? Thinking about ironically getting a drawer to hold a few flash drives, is there anything else to put in them?
>>56393443
optical drives
hard drive bays

I don't have any. How do you ironically get a drawer btw? Does that mean you're not going to get one?

Yes, stop paying attention to it.
Stop talking about it.
It's unimportant.

Let's talk for real what's the best Linux plus GNU operating system without doing one word answers eg Gentoo
>>56393299
Gentoo belongs at the end. I use Debian, it "just werks", but you need to fiddle with Gentoo. It gives you total control over the system
Arch and Gentoo requires more work to set up but you'll end up with a very minimal and personal distro. Most others are pre-configured and while you can change everything that's not how those distros are meant to be used. If you want to use another init system for example, it's probably better to use Arch instead of spending hours getting Ubuntu to work without systemd. You might also be interested in choosing a distro based on who is maintaining it (e.g. Arch is supported by its community, Ubuntu has a multi-million dollar company behind it). Personally I don't think there's any distro that is the best. It all depends on what you want from a distro.
>>56393299
I remember that. In the end was: 'whatever it works'.
If you are a Win 10 user the current BEST browser is now designated Edge.
The best speed and battery life are now with you + all extensions you had on Chrome/Firefucks like 4chanX/OneeChan or ublock-Origin using Tampermonkeys.

>>56392951
Install Gentoo.
>he fell for the windows 10 meme
install Windows 7
Hello /g/
I`m willing to install Gentoo on my SSD. From what I understand (please correct me If I`m wrong) Gentoo is used because it`s fast, customizable and becaue its learning process and the control the user has over the machine. The problem is that my programming knowledge is almost null: a bit of HTML, CSS, SQL and some Python.
Will I survive the installation? Is there something I must learn beforehand?
Thank you
>>56392658
>>>/flt/
You don't need any programming experience to be able to use Gentoo, if a bit preferable.
>>56393097
/fit/?
Thank you for the info. What do you think is the bast way to start to learn about Gentoo`s functioning?
Just read the manual. It's been years since I installed Gentoo so I don't remember how much it covers post-install (e.g. if you want a DE) but you can always use the Arch wiki for that.
