Hi /g/
I want to join.
I don't think this will run gentoo but what do I install? Might start with tiny Linux.
9front
Pretty much any distro will ruin on pretty much any hardware, unless it's super ancient (like before laptops were a thing, in which case Slackware). You should use LXDE as your desktop environment at first though, then try to move up to heavier if you need more functionality.
>>56384105
That Thinkpad is Win95 ancient, it probably has around 32 mb of RAM, LXDE needs at least 128 mb to run acceptably
Is it really a botnet?

Those with a CS degree: do you consider yourself a mathematician?
Yes.
>>56383455
I am currently pursing a CS Degree, but I am only at the freshman level (for CS classes). I have taken and currently am taking calculus, and I could see myself studying mathematics further.
I think the main reason why I chose CS over ENG is that I will be focusing on programming more, logic, and data science.
>>56383455
I generally consider myself an amateur mathematician.
My mathematical knowledge is not nearly as in-depth as somebody with mathematics degree, but that doesn't stop me from spending free time learning more about and practicing the field.
Also, I personally think you could easily consider large parts of CS to be a field of mathematics, and the line between the two is often blurred. But my mathematical knowledge is still only very focused on the CS-related parts, rather than covering a broad spectrum of understanding like a true mathematician should have.

What server hardware/os/software does 4chan run on?
I was curious about my download speed on my Xbox one, so I ran the test from the consol and it said my download speed was 86 mb/s a second. When I'm downloading something, I hover about 46 mb/s. So where is the descrpency?
>>56383524
Macs, FreeBSD.
My Android smartphone got stuck into a bootloop after trying to bypass the FRP, should I ask for a replacement or try to fix it myself?
If yes to the latter, should I just wait three days to enter my account, or should I try to bypass it again using another method?
Really want to ask for a replacement right now. The second I entered in my Jewgle shit is the second it started getting warm to the touch.
Does /g/ run a website? If so, then can you tell me the name of it?

Sure! It's 192.168.1.54. Try and hack it!

Is CS difficult to complete? Is there much maths?
I'm really horrible at maths, how did you get your degrees?
>>56383295
i hated math in high school and now im a sophomore in cs and quite liking it. calc 1/2 was really cool and interesting and when you see how it can be applied to something you care about instead of just arbitrarily finding the sine of an angle "because do it" its very motivating and rewarding. if you are passionate about cs and aren't totally retarded i think you'll be okay.
>>56383352
pretty much this, I didn't do shit in high school and now I've learned Trig Calc and pretty much everything and whilst I won't use some of it, some I will (and have) and in the end I've come to enjoy it (for the reasons you've mentioned, mostly)
With C's in every math class above Calc 1 desu. You don't really need math. I got a job right out of a small state school at large bank/finance company.
Is the Moto Z Play the thinkpad of smartphones?
>1080p 5.5 inch screen
>Snapdragon 625 3gb ram
>Micro SD Slot
>3510mah battery
>Moto mod attachments
>No removable battery but batterys as attatchments for hot swapping
Is this what we've been waiting for /g/? Surely there's a flaw I'm missing
Why doesn't it have dual stereo front facing speakers ?
>>56383106
No the lg /g/4 is the thinkpad of smartphones.
>>56383106
>Is the Moto Z Play the thinkpad of smartphones?
No, it needs a slider qwerty first.`
Bottles are technology, right?
ITT: god-tier bottles.
>>56383087
those are really nice bottles, did you know when you buy one they throw in water for free?
I just got a Zojirushi 16oz thermal bottle today. It's Sweethome's top pick. This thing is godly. Excellent build quality, fantastic heat retention, great materials, and attention to all of the tiniest of details to make life with it more pleasant. It's comfortable in the hand as well. Perfect size.
>>56383087
There is one of these in my fridge right now, but I'm not sure where it came from.
I'm pretty sure it's been refilled, so I just left it there.
I guess it has good aesthetics for my fridge. It's kind of too big though.
Gonna fucking buy it guys. Question is, should I go with synthetic leather or fabric? Need to decide quick.
>>56383084
Fabric.
1.Breatheable
2.Fake leather cracks and wears(but did not with me for some reason).
You won't regret it on hot summer nights.
I second the fabric.
You can clean fabric pretty well, it breathes, wears less and is imo more comfortable.
>>56383105
>>56383121
True, true. I was leaning towards the fabric as well. Any other pluses?

I'm taking a Comp Sci class and my professor wants to see how advances we all are simply in Linux Mint terminal. I'm not hugely into this kind of stuff, but want to win the war. He's setting us all up on a computer and we all have to try to shut each other down without being shut down ourselves.
Any Tips or advice as to how I can win this kind of war? Any input is appreciated.
I'm mainly looking to be able to shut down the computers on the network WITHOUT having to input ip or passwords
>>56382948
and if a script put them for ya?
what do you mean shut eachother down? Are you all on different computers or ssh'd into the same one?
There's a new camera app available on Nexus 5 and a few other phones. It uses burst mode to increase camera megapixel. Can turn 8MP Nexus 5 up to 32MP.
Here's a 20MP sample because of stupid file size constraints. Will include a standard 8mp sample taken with Google camera for comparison, as well as other samples if anons are interested.
The app is Camera Super Pixel.
Not bad for static images, but blurry as fuck for anything with the slightest motion. Kinda sucks when your hands tremble a lot...
>>56382898
And here's the 8MP sample taken with Google camera
The default Camera app already does this to increase resolution on newer Nexus devices.
>>56383020
Source? Can't find any info on that
At this point is there any reason to buy Haswell over Skylake? DDR4 is no longer expensive.
Also is hyperthreading worth the extra money on an i7? My friend told me it basically cuts a core in half.
Is there not a successor to skylake on the horizon? Skylake just came to late to the market. A lot of people bought Haswell and the difference for your dollar wasn't adequate enough for an entire system upgrade.
>>56382927
Kaby Lake is coming by December/Q1 2017, but Kaby Lake is just a "Optimization" since they couldnt push out Cannonlake and had to delay.
Kabys only supposed to improve in power and very small IPC gains if any.
