This thing is impressive. It has more features than Skype and it runs in your browser. The actual Jitsi client must be even better.
Why is no one using it?

I used this a few years ago when they were trying to be an open source skype replacement
It was shit and barely worked

And you can totally tell in which programming language something was written by running it, totally. You're even more ridiculous than the audiophiles.
The only downside for Java is that you need to have the Java runtime installed.
Why the fuck is gnome so fucking laggy Jesus Christ?
I'm on an i7 6700K with a 980 Ti and its still fucking terrible, especially window dragging.

Why does everyone on /g/ say that CS degrees are a meme? How else are you supposed to be certified as capable to businesses looking to hire?
A CE degree? Some other derivation of those two?
Are you expected to be freelance and just start working, so that you gain experience? But even then most companies want someone with a degree. That's just how it is.
Or did I just fall for the bait really hard?
Because /g/ is full of losers without lives and have convinced themselves that wage slaves are the real losers in life and winners stay in their mom's basement surviving on NEET bux, cheetos, and mountain dew while tweaking their linux desktops.

Install Gentoo
>>57099458
It's a meme that spawned in /sci/, actually. You should go ask them.
Do you have a suite of programs and apps (I'm pretty sure I'm using 'app' right here) on a flashdrive, so you can fix people's computers?
I have a pretty basic set of adwCleaner, JRT and MalwareBytes and I'm kinda looking to expand.
No because I'm not a cuck computer janitor
>>57099457
Yeah. My Slackware Live Edition USB. Once I install it on someone's computer, all of their problems go away.
Yes I do
I'm not sure where to post this, but it's tech related so this was my best choice.
I'm after a controller mod for my classic 3DS, the guy who runs the 3dscapture site isn't replying to his emails, so I tried to sign up to the forums for answers.
Problem is - when you try to sign up, the forum checks your ip against a list of known spammers across several databases.
I have a dynamic host, and my most recent ip was flagged up 6 years ago on a now redundant database (whose webpage says delete links to our db because we don't update it anymore).
I got similar results from resetting my router for a new ip.
tl;dr - Can someone try signing up to the 3dscapture forums on an american ip?
Web proxies don't work, tor doesn't work, cyber ghost doesn't work.

good thing we don't have a board specifically for video games
or this would be off topic

What do?
Hey /g/, I have a problem.
I recently bought a new ssd I was trying to use, but it absolutely isn't being recognized by my machine. It doesn't show up in the device manager, and it doesn't show up in the BIOS.
The kicker is when I bring the ssd to my friends machine it works fuckin perfectly.
I've tried plugging in the ssd on my machine using a sata cable and power cable that are currently running on a hard drive that works, so I've ruled out bad cables cause it still didn't work.
Everything I've researched has said that if it doesn't show up in the BIOS or dev manager its a defective disk, but why does it work on my friends machine then?
Help please
try another ssd or hdd, maybe the sata power cable isn't fully connected to the PSU? Are you sure you are using the supplied PSU cables? Other ones might not work.

So of it works in your friends computer I can assume it's been initialized correctly? Also bios update might be needed if you have a crap mono. If your sure it is 100% working it's a connection to your mobile. Wiggle everything!
>>57099325
Thanks for the tip, I updated my mobo drivers and it works now.
Why was she so perfect, /g/?
I like Core Duo
I hate Pentium 4 so god damn much tho
>>57099187
I'm still rocking a 3.33ghz E8600.

why though
fucked my computer up
>dualboot linux and windows 10
>want to go back to windows 10
>select win 10 on the menu thing
>blue screen saying file is missing from the system files, "winloader" something like that
do i have to shell out 200 rupies for pajeet to fix it?
bootloader is probably fucked so run a repair disk

Yeah I think you erased or wrote over efi bootloader, it's gg senpai.
Numnuts. Just go into loonix and delete all your partitions

What are you working on ?
God Save The Queen
In java, making a File instance never creates a file in the disk, however, if I make a RandomAccessFile instance and the file I'm using for the constructor doesn't exist, then a new file always gets created. How can I test if a RAF exists without creating a new file on disk?

>be me, a CS major

who else got meme'd by a specific CS class.
>>57098973
you're in a computer science class. you're the meme.
best start believing in meme stories. you are one.

Can somebody tell me why is everyone here loosing mind for systemd meme ?
>binary logs
>tries to do everything instead of being an init successor
>devs full of themselves. They fundamentally think they can't be wrong
>systemd is a clusterfuck written in C. Makes it difficult to write s simple scripts.
OpenRC it is. I use it for my personal machine. My lab's computers are running Ubuntu so I have to use systemd. It's enough for me.

They are dumb.
See >>57099179

why do distros all like having it if its so bad?
I'm really interested in learning C and C++. However whenever I try to choose an IDE from the plethora of IDEs. Most are either Bloated (i.e. Visual Studio) Paid (i.e. Clion) really out-dated (i.e. Code:blocks) or not available for Windows. (i.e. Xcode).
What would /g/ recommend;
I'm using Windows 7.
Don't use one. They're a pain to deal with.
>>57098946
So just how do you think I would be able to code;
Using a needle?

vim
I have to create a database and access it with a java app. I know some java but i have no idea about servers and know only very little about databases. Where do i even start? The project is due in 2 months.
lookup jdbc.
also netbeans allow to configure with a few clicks a (quite shitty) java db called derby, otherwise installing mysql/mariadb isn't difficult at all if you can read a tutorial
Your job as a student is to learn.
So do just that. Go on your favorite search engine and document yourself.
If you can't do it, you probably should stop working with computers, mate.
Learn what servers and db are, the basic concepts behind them. Then search what tools you can use, and start learning those tools.
But as a student, don't just search for a complete guide that will do all the work for you. Learn.
