Android is built upon a Linux kernel as well as Chrome OS. CyanogenMod is just a cleared from bloatware mod upon Android with couple of UI tweaks and features.

Linux for phones is Ubuntu Touch, it could be, if it could be installed on any Android device.

Its the best GNU+Linux you could ever find for a phone

>Images are nothing but a combination of 1's and 0's

>With the right combinations of 1's and 0's we have a image of anything you can imagine.

Now consider this.
>A program that creates a simple 300X300 1 bit image
>Another program that does some sort of edge detection,
or a more complex program with the ability to match images from random google searches, eg the human body (also 1 bit)

I wonder what we could find?

Could we make this a thing? Even if the end result was something only barely distinguishable it would be a success. A truly randomly generated image.

In the midst of all this chaos regarding server costs I think this would be a great time to test out the newest open source, royalty free, and widely supported image format of the future. Now with firefox pretty much becoming irrelevant and most people using Chrome compatibility won't be too much of a problem.

Benefits of Webp:
>lossy encoding with transparency
>legit lossless encoding
>support for 24-bit color animation with transparency (replaces GIF but not WebM)
>~50% smaller file size than JPG at the same visual quality
>~25-50% smaller file size than lossless PNG
>codec support for windows photo viewer can easily be added
>many photo viewers both on Android and Windows support Webm from the get-go

Full res of pic related here:

https://my.mixtape.moe/nqvdrz.png

WebP encoder (CLI): https://storage.googleapis.com/downloads.webmproject.org/releases/webp/index.html

WebP encoder (GUI): https://github.com/samuelcarreira/webPGUI

I think that we should add support for WebP on /g/ first since we are the most nimble with computer stuff though we now have a GUI encoder for WebM so I think even non /g/ boards will be able to convert images to WebP without too much trouble.

Input lag aside, are there any major downsides to using a 40-50 inch 4K TV as your main monitor?
The 4K telly I'm considering right now has an input lag of 21ms, how noticeable is that when you're playing games?

A year ago or so I messed around with TensorFlow with the idea of training a basic waifu classifier. I wrote a couple of image webcrawlers in python to automatic fetch training data from various image search engines. You won't believe just how shit some image search engines are once you see the images in isolation, I had to go through manually throwing away irrelevant images because I wanted my training data to be as clean as possible. Got busy with work and other things though so never got around to training the actual classifier, not to mention that I don't have a great GPU to leverage use of. It's still something I would like to try again at some point though.
>>
That sounds pretty neat

Did you try to classify on a per-character basis, or some other properties?

When will this change?
When will we get decent $500 notebooks
where 1080p and ssd are standard and its not the cheapest possible build quality by asus or acer or some other shitty brand?

When a typical PC user needs more resources.
You still don't need more than 4GB RAM to browse facebook and more than 500GB HDD to store non-quality mp3s.
>>
I fucking hate stupid gimmicky shit like touch screens on laptops
It's the same shit TV manofacturers pulled with smart TVs. Instead of rolling out 4k earlier they made a huge detour after 1080p with bloated smart TVs.
They found a way to never drop prices on newer models by cramming a cellphone processor in there.
>>
>>57098299
that's because typical user DOESN'T NEED MORE.
Why sell more 4k screens when nobody wants them? Most people will buy cheapest 1080p tvs anyway.
