How well do i have to know a programming language before i can say i know it? Is there a time minimum? What programs should i be able to write? pic related

When you sufficiently know most of the language features.
>>57093033
What are "language features"? Most languages are the same shit and you choose your language based on what you want to make, not because it's your favorite.
Old thread: >>57087452
What are you working on, /g/?
Thanks for using an anime image
>>57092926
weird, I ran it directly from the command prompt rather than from the exe, which opens cmd, and it runs normal now
wtf
is there a difference if i just open it from the exe file?
I've only used languages that use interpreters
Working on my terminal emulator, I got a couple of vttest tests working today (one pictured in the screenshot).
That was actually pretty hard to get right because it abuses a couple of retarded VT-100 controls like DECALN.
On the bright side I conjured an optimal script for terminal reeing.echo -e "\e#8\e[rR"

What's the state of SSD endurance right now?
I'm about to pull the trigger on this. I have a completely fanless system and the only noise I get is my ultra loud hard drive. It's also 10 years old which is why it is ridiculously slow.
I moved my 1TB of torrents to a external hard drive to use an old computer as a seedbox, and the 512GB will be used only for OS, browser, music player and light gaming™.
How long should I expect this to last? It's cheap, but I imagine file recovery should be harder than with a HDD.
inb4 not your personal tech support
Why wouldn't you put that cash towards a new machine instead? 10 years old would be a early c2d.
As for your question, as long as you don't defeat the thing daily(never do it at all) it should be 10+ years.
>>57092707
only the hard drive is 10 years old. otherwise, my system is less than a year old.
>>57092579
why not spend a quarter of that money on a regular SSD and not notice any difference
Who /windows/ here?

Why do phones or computers not use voice passwords?
>Obviously more secure
>If your voice changes you can just go updating it and updating it
>If you get your phone stolen, nobody can access it.
>If the phone has fingerprint sensor, they kidnap you and cut your thumb or index finger (depending on phone)
>if your phone has iris scanner, they can take your eyes of or force you too look
>If it has a password, they can just make some virus, plug it into the phone and crack the pass or make some tricks if its an iPhone.
Why doesn't this exist yet?
I'm serious.
also theres no way they can force you to talk
you talk if you want if they kidnapped you
are you retarded or a troll?

I have a conspiracy theory.
I pay for 20mb Internet speeds.
I often notice that youtube videos lag out on me and my speeds don't seem to be very good.
So I run a speed test.
It indicates that I have a 160ms ping and 2mb download rate.
Not good.
Wait a minute. Run it again.
100ms ping 5mb download speed. Better.
Wait a minute
46ms ping 18mb download speed.
Interesting!
I think ISP's have programs in place to monitor if people are actually checking their speeds. If they aren't they slow it down. If they are they speed it up to what they are paying for.
I've done this many times over the last year. Always the same story.
Is there a way to set up a speed tester that runs automatically every ten minutes or something?
What you guys think?
>>57092446
>What you guys think?
that you're retarded
>>57092446
You're not getting what you paid for and need to complain.
>I can't
You can.
Try a VPN. It will tell you that either your ISP is throttling youtube, or they are cheap fucks with shit backbone peering.
Why do people still do 4 year CS degrees when coding/programming bootcamps give you the same skills in a few weeks?
>Coding Dojo, a coding bootcamp founded in 2012, released a report Tuesday, which found that 56.5% of its graduates earned less than $35,000 before enrolling. After completing the 14-week course, graduates make an average of $72,221.
http://money.cnn.com/2016/09/27/technology/learn-to-code-coding-dojo/
why don't they compare apples to apples? what was the average salary before enrolling?
>>57092449
Read my post retard
I haven't seen any CS jobs that didn't require a bachelor's degree.
Hi /g/,
what's your excuse for not using Debian? inb4 "packages are too old". That's why Debian testing exists faggot.
I installed Xubuntu because i already had a USB drive with its installer on it from when i was helping a friend and I'm too lazy to switch and reconfigure my shit how i like it again.
Feels good man.
>>57092406
Even debian testing/sid packages are too old

>>57092376

Get a server with a decent NIC and a couple antennas and you're all set. Even a sub-$5000 blade would do pretty well as a home router.
>>57092381
sorry your right i forgot to read the sticky before i posted.
What's the most aesthetically appealing phone and why is it the iPhone 4?
Iphone 4s is bae
A 16:9 iPhone 4 the same thickness as the 5S would be the best phone ever.

Too stupid to overclock though
Everyone has such varying tutorials
>>57092453
Overclocking has now become as easy as moving a couple sliders in a windows program or a simple change of numbers in BIOS.
