These jobs look for:
>Experience JavaScript, jQuery, MySQL, CSS, HTML, AJAX, Angular, Backbone, Ember, React
I have experience with:
>Algorithms & Data Structures, Automata Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Mathematical Logic, Java, Machine Learning, etc. but not this EXPERIENCE with all the shit they are asking for.
You're confusing Computer Science with Software Engineering.

What the fuck do I do? I can't get a job because I don't qualify for any.
I attended several career fairs (about to attend another one this week) and it's all the same bullshit requirements. I have no fucking experience in any of this shit and all the companies that are hiring look for skill sets I have no experience in. So they don't interview me.
If you fucks haven't been following machine learning news I feel bad for you
NEWS FLASH: SINGULARITY IS NEAR. HUG YOUR WAIFUS AND PARENTS
Recently robust general reinforcement learning was successfully combined with neural network design. The consequence of this, is that recursive artificial intelligence improvement is now possible.
Days until singularity: I predict less than 1000

Speaking of oneness with cup rubber, the topre 87U with PBT spacebars is on massdrop right now for $200. I'm tempted to get the uniform 55g version if only to use it to eventually harvest the switches and put it into this thing.
Unless there's a chink torpe clone that's 55g or something.

Is there anywhere I can get this version of the lolita?
Aliexpress only has the floating key design

Which way is the fan pointing? Is it blowing air down or up?
>>57844902
it's blowing air up and the fan at the top of my case is blowing air up and out...
i think i am good... and my logic when building it was the air flow would go up and out but i just dont see any other build that way.

Is has this just been thrown out the window now? This board has gone to shit. Where are some good places to discuss programming and technology besides here?

Have you ever used anything other than GNU/*?
I've just installed OpenBSD after reading the handbook, and i must say that I'm impressed. I really enjoyed how the configuration file for a network interface was marked insecure and automatically fixed (I edited it with vi and forgot to set the correct chmod bits)
I've been able to install bash, mpv, openbox, and the xfce4 applications very easily with pkg_add
The only issue I had was with my network card which uses the iwl driver. I knew that I would have issues, and I thought I'd have to run the firmware updating command in order to resolve it. Turns out, after installing it with my Ethernet cable, all i had to do was reboot and iwl-firmware was instantly installed.
I accidental wiped my MBR in the installer and decided to go balls deep.
I'm using Windows 10 right now.

they really need to fix that, same shit happened to me

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

my first thinkpad is a t430 with 1366x768 which is what i am using right now and is my main pc
i bought a 2nd one that was cheaper, only 4gb of ram from a refurber, but it had 1600x900 res
i just booted it for the first time with ubuntu and put them both side by side, and i couldn't believe it. all this time i had been using these shitty 768 panels, i had no idea it was this great of a difference

I'm a programmer and it's a really frustrating experience. There are some things that I really enjoy learning about: random Unix stuff, functional languages like Haskell and OCaml. I like math too. I'm happy pretty much whenever I can learn about something nice and self-contained.
My day-to-day job is difficult for me. It's hard to meet deadlines because I don't have time to fully understand what I'm doing. Usually I get a ticket that's somewhat half-baked to begin with and I'm supposed to iron out the details with the team or with the product manager and to come back with an estimate of how long it will take. We also deploy to production knowing that not everything will completely work and fix bugs as we go. I understand why someone would want to run a software engineering team this way ... you structure the team and the work in such a way that management and the business is presented with a short feedback loop. That seems at least somewhat legitimate and I understand the motivation. It is not a good fit for my personality though. I like thinking about stuff and I like understanding the details without pressure to make a change quickly and then pressure to babysit the change and deal with the fallout.
What does /g/ do?
>>57844462
>What does /g/ do?
what, like... for a living?
>>57844496
To deal with the frustration of a programmer's life? Maybe the rest of the industry has a different experience than I do. I dunno, it was meant to be an open-ended question.
>>57844462
>I like thinking about stuff and I like understanding the details
do academia?
The companies that don't put that type of pressure on their software guys are often more dysfunctional. One of the things that makes your experience so shitty is that you're exposed to the pressures put onto management/business guys. But if you didn't have that, then your work wouldn't actually be in-line with what your company needs
I've seen companies where they give developers full autonomy. Those companies stop moving forward, sell one of their legs in order to buy a hat, then discover they're falling over because they've sold one of their legs. spoiler: the hat doesn't save them.

>not using clear linux in 2016

What are you waiting for?
I think it is one of the most interesting distros to come along in a while.
It's made by intel and everything's compiled for speed. The intel backing puts it in a similar position as Fedora where professionals are maintaining it.
If they keep expanding the available packages and get listed on distrowatch, I could see it gaining traction until it is one of the popular distributions.
neat
im gonna try clear linux on my FX8320

I am running dual boot computer, Windows 10 on one partition, Linux on another partition. Suppose I tell windows to close down and restart the computer, and then I boot into Linux, just before the linux login screen it flashes up an image of the windows desktop as it was a second or two before windows closed. What is going on there?
Why is it doing that? What is that even called?

The only selling points to the Kaby Lake lineup are power draw and video decoding (aka 4K Netflix). That's it.
Jump on skylake or wait until they start making 6 or 8 cores.

pretty sure 6700k is capable of 8bit hevc decode
