Sup /g/.. I've made the effort to create another Browser "Benchmark". Tests were pretty simple: Load 10 and 25 tabs simultaneously with and without AdBlock (uBlock Origin). Please don't ask for Edge, wasn't able to include Edge for now.
Tested Browsers:
Nightly 53 - Multiprocess Enabled and ProcessCount set to 50
Opera 41
Vivaldi 1.6
Chrome 55
Rig:
Intel Xeon E3-1230 v5 / 16GB RAM / Plex PCI-E SSD / 100Mbit/s connection
Videos (4k x264.. so loading can take a while):
>Browser 10 Tabs

>Browser 10 Tabs with uBlock Origin

>Browser 25 Tabs

>Browser 25 Tabs with uBlock Origin

If there's some interest I might do some more tests in the future, including Edge etc..

Is this a common use case? It seems like comparing boot times.

Just bought this AOC monitor. It doesn't have any user reviews yet, but it had all the specs I was looking for.
Do you guys think it'll be an ok monitor?

You spent 700 dollars on a monitor you know nothing about?
I hope it's shit.

Holy shit I was kidding when I posted this but you are trolling right?
"The 27" AG271QG is the connoisseur's choice, featuring a 165Hz refresh rate (most pro players settle for 144Hz) and QHD resolution."
That shit ass refresh rate... are you fucking with us?
What's a good distro for someone that's using Linux outside of virtualbox for the first time?

Ubuntu if you want cozy, Kali if you want to break into shit, tails if you want to stay quiet, Manjaro if you want something close to a windows experience, Fedora if you're okay with never telling people you literally use an operating system called fedora.
Right now ive actually installed remix os and i love it to death. Once you get nova launcher working on it, you feel like you're in the future

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

How do I return to the botnet without panicking? I got a printer today and nearly hanged myself after "agreeing" to send my data back to the gooks who made it. I just want to be a normal and productive human being, I don't have time for this shit.

It's too late, mate
I turned some old machine into a seedbox and installed it in another house
How can I control it from my actual home from windows being linux the seedbox thing?
I rather have remote desktop control and shit since I might need to install a lot of stuff and have accces to plugged usb sticks to send stuff from here

Not sure what private trackers are all about?
The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

And this is why private trackers are stupidity. BT is a protocol for sharing information widely, and you cucks hide that information behind walls.
Fuck private trackers.

Got a 970, looking to upgrade. Will have the cash to blow on a 1080.
It looks like I can expect about a 70%-ish performance improvement.
Does this sound about right?
no, why waste your money when your 970 has 3.5gb of vram?
>>57846007
>3.5g
>>57845992
Nah. Don't bite it yet. HTC is in May and Volta will be announced
So, for someone who isn't into PC gaming and high performance, is there any reason not to get one of these?
Are these desktop computers reliable? These seem like nice home workstations.
It's a waste of money. Just build a desktop and put linux on it for 1/4 of the price.
>>57845984
>overpriced
>limited hardware
>limited os
Even if you don't necessarily care about performance or gaming, this just isn't a good purchase.
>>57845984
It's way overpriced. If you just want a facebook machine you can buy a better monitor and PC, and install a superior OS for less money.

What do you guys think of using a VM as your normal desktop/work environment? People apparently do this; there must be a reason.
>>57845896
Why would you do that instead of simply getting Qubes OS?
That's fine. You don't have to worry about something fucking up your system then.
