how do you remove the CUPS printer daemon from ubuntu 16.04? i tried 5 different waysto uninstall it, but it still auto-starts after a reboot!
1) # echo 'manual' > /etc/init/cups.override
2) # update-rc.d cups remove
3) Installed 'bootup manager' (bum) and deactivated cups and cups-browsed
4) 'Ubuntu Software' --> searched for 'cups' --> remove
5) # apt-get remove cups
WTF?!

I'm not trying to shill but Ethernetservers is great and is cheaper and you get more. Check it out.
I was using it to host servers for /g/ and /v/ and for personal use but I quit my job and went to school so I had to cancel my servers.It sucks but it is what it is.

I just installed vanilla ubuntu and I'm loving it, it just werks, why does everyone hate it so much?, I've used fedora and other ubuntu spins before, but vanilla ubuntu just works and looks great out of the box.

I want to opt out of the Apple ecosystem. Their products are just addictive, and I generally do not feel very good using them.
I also don't like over the top fancy premium devices. These are devices designed for overall convenience, not for fashion. The iPhone is incredibly uncomfortable to hold and use without a case.
Phone - Nexus 5X
Laptop - I'm out of luck here. Most new windows PCs are garbage imo, and don't last very long. You guys like thinkpads, right? What should I get
