I just built my system for doing exactly what you're asking for, OP, on a budget. One area you could upgrade over mine would be the GPU, maybe buy faster RAM (although mine overclock fine to ~3000).

Core i7 6800k
Asus X99-A II
32 GB's Corsair Vengeance LPX 2133
Asus Strix GTX 1070 OC 8GB
Noctua NH-D15 (whisper quiet--you may get more cooling out of water if you want a custom loop, but the D15 is essentially equal to most all-in-one water coolers while being incredibly quiet compared to stock radiator fans of most brands)
Fractal Design Define S case (added 4 Noctua NFS-12 redux fans)
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD, plus some older drives I migrated over.

That's about it. Built it for about $1700 last week. If your budget is higher you could get a 1080 or multiple 1080's, perhaps a Titan. And if you have that much money to burn, get faster memory and maybe the Asus X99-A II DELUXE board and the 6850k.
